You would think there would've been damage to the wall and that LE would've looked there first if it was recent damage.

guessing there is a space accessable via the ceiling

So tragic- I am so sad- her article was intuitive, prophetic and ironic. I am at a loss for words.

The only thing I can think of is something large was covering up the hole in the wall that would've been made to put her in there. But a normal wall isn't that thick ~ so how could her entire body be "in a wall"?
wow.... this really had to have been someone who knew that building WELL! I mean putting things in the ceiling and the walls???

Body found in wall at 10 Amistad Street
Hartford (WTNH) - New Haven police say a body, assumed to be that of missing Yale grad student Annie Le, was found in a wall at a Yale medical building.

Le, 24, was last seen at 10 Amistad St. this past Tuesday. She was to be married today on Long Island.

At a Sunday night news conference, police announced the discovery of the body and said New Haven Police would be taking over the case as a homicide investigation.

Few details were released by police.

The announcement about the discovery of a body follows two other developments in the case earlier Sunday.

The FBI, state police and canine units spent the day sifting through debris at a Hartford trash facility in connection with Le's disappearance.

Also, published reports indicated bloody clothing found at 10 Amistad St. were not the clothes Le was wearing when she disappeared.

The search was conducted at the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority facility near Brainard Airport. A News Channel 8 photographer on the scene watched as a piece of equipment extracted piles of trash, and workers, some dressed in hazardous materials suits, used rakes to separate the pieces. State police dogs also sniffed the sorted trash.

The CRAA operates trash-to-energy and recycling facilities in Hartford.

guessing there is a space accessable via the ceiling
but if it is a dropped ceiling how could it support the weight of an adult to crawl around? I am asking because I haven't the faintest idea... This for sure cements in my mind that the steam causing the fire alarm was deliberate INDEED!

eta: I also think the perp had no time after the crime to clean up... so he/she did so very quickly and in a place (ceiling and wall) that they had familiarity with...

Agreed - I've seen places where the wall did not extend upwards past a drop down ceiling. Probably the case here.

Did someone post a news update upthread that said a police truck was backed into the basement area that contained the lab?

Our basement here at home is finished, but not waterproofed. It is an older building and the basement walls get damp, so the drywall was placed 6 inches or so away from the cement block foundation walls. Other homes in our neighborhood have even more space between the foundation and drywall in finished basements. Enough for a child or small adult to walk through.

Our drywall walls also don't go up all the way. There is a space between the ceiling and the top of the drywall, where our children have accidentally thrown toys. They are lost forever in the cavity between the cement block and drywall.

I wonder if the basement in 10 Amistad was finished similarly, where there was ceiling access to a hidden area between the foundation and the wall. Someone as light as Annie probably wouldn't be difficult for a strong person to lift, particularly if they stood on a table or counter.

Poor Annie and poor Jonathan. What a nightmare.

I wonder if the autoclave prevents decomp. So the murderer tried to outwit the dogs.

OMG, I am so very sad.

Prayers go out for her soul -- what contributions she would have made to the world, a brilliant young woman with the world in her hands.

It sounds too much like it must have been someone working there. Who else would be able to find (or prepare in advance?) a place to hide her body. They maybe knew where they would put the body before doing the crime.

Strange that they could not search every inch of that building within one day.

I wonder if she had information that was going to ruin someone's career and had threatened to expose someone for something like embezzlement or fraud, or plagiarism. For sex crimes, don't they usually kidnap the victim and take to another site?

This is sounding more and more like a tv show! I wish it all was just make believe.
I believe we all lost someone special on Sept. 8th.Who knows what wonderful things Annie may have discovered in future works.
God bless her family and friends.

Wonder if there was construction going on in the building.......that she could of been put in the framing and dry wall nailed up quick???
or did he lift her in ceiling and drop her in a wall? or was she in pieces? OMG, I can't beiev what I just wrote!

Oh I am so sad. That poor, intelligent, beautiful girl was to be married today. RIP Annie Le

Hi Sariebell, it is just the most sad situation. I think we have to look at it as a kiss from beyond the grave that her lover would learn she has been found on this their wedding day. It could have gone on for some time. Hopefully having her body will help him and her family heal a bit sooner. xox

I was wondering this, myself. Maybe the clothes were found in a tile at the very edge of the room, and the assailant stood on something, slid the tile open, and dropped Annie over, then hid the clothes? I don't have the faintest idea how she could have gotten IN a wall, other than this.

I also feel like the alarm was set off on purpose, maybe in a panic by the assailant to buy more time

**eta in this post I am assuming there is room between the drywall ...with a "hollow" frame supporting it. I this she is small enough to fit in there:(

Wonder if body was covered in something that dogs couldn't get a scent on???

Every time I follow a case like this it seems that if the search were better the case would have been solved so much faster. I think if my loved one ever went missing I would have to make it my job to find him/her and I would assume that everything LE did was flawed.

This is ridiculously sad. I've been following crime/missing person cases for awhile now but I've never seen one like this. This was supposed to be her wedding day, which makes it even sadder. My heart is breaking for her family, her fiancee, her friends, and all those that loved her. :rose: Rest in Peace Annie. Praying for justice.
