I have found that does indeed satisfy all the criteria mentioned in the comment on the nhregister and reproduced in this thread by Want To Help. If (and that is a big if) it is the case that the comment on nhregister has identified the suspect, then is the suspect. No more circles. No more ambiguity. See for yourself.

Important Caveat: successfully identifying the suspect under consideration is not the same as identifying the actual culprit.

My hood is equipped with a steam outlet, right next to the vacuum, natural gas, air, water and nitrogen valves. Steam is quite useful for heating without the risk of over heating, hot spots or fire.

Does it specifically say HIS? I've found several things indicating that's a female.

Unfortunately, I think all our sleuthing is being fouled up several having ties to Rochester, as well. :crazy:

Hi, Nursebeeme. Animal tech and lab techs are different, but I think that "lab tech" is often used as an umbrella term.

This person they are talking about seems to be much more than simply an animal tech though (i.e. co-authoring an article with a professor/phD student - type).

I think that's because of speculation spawned by the NHR post, not by emergent facts.

And there's absolutely no indication that this faculty member is a lab assistant.

There is a female with 's last name who is also associated with the relevant research. But my references are not to her. They are to a male.

The thing is, you probably have a fume hood, right? I am thinking of the animal facility situation- I remember an early report that that fire alarm was in the same "lab" where Annie was supposed to be that morning.
The hoods in an animal facility are for the protection of the rodents, not the staff, so they are airflow hoods. Whereas a fume hood sucks everything in to protect the user, animal hoods blow air out to protect the mice from viruses, etc. You would not ever heat anything in one of these hoods- they are only for opening mouse cages safely for the mice


The only thing releasing steam in an animal facility would be the autoclave. Ours is quite large- the size of a large walk in closet. I am actually afraid of it, although my tech assures me the door closes very slowly and there is an escape button. (you notice the way I think? lol) The cage racks roll into it to be sterilized. Everything is sterilized- food, bedding, cages, water bottles, cage racks, shipping containers, everything.

Nurse, I don't think you're wrong at all but one of the reasons I can't get this Rodent Services out of my head is b/c they could be handling alot of the stuff for Annie or her research team. the tech could be considered a lab tech, just maybe higher up than your average lab tech considering their function at Yale. They euthanize, administer injections, feed, breed, etc, for the researcher/scientist. Annie would have multiple chance encounters with one of these people considering her work is done on mice. I honestly can't see how she "can't" come in contact with one of these techs. Do I have tunnel vision here? Help me out. I definitely know the difference with an animal research specialist and a lab tech but a lab tech working in animal research would probably have an 8 hour shift, and there would probably be rotating schedules, and that lab tech would be designated to an area in or very near the animals simply b/c they can't move from room to room as freely b/c their change in smell would thorw the animals off and drive them crazy. Also, a lab tech working in an animal facility would more than likely have more responsibility than a regular lab tech. Could this person have formed a liking for Annie? An infatuation? A jealousy? Am I going off on a wild tangent?
