What a dizzy day don't you think Puffster? From our discussions this morning, learning so many things here with scientific procedures and equip, false walls and ethnic traditions just to name a few.

Then waiting for the presser and the news is so discouraging. At least she is here in the now for her family and the man she loved.

You were great Puffster, as was every poster here, everyone contributing their thoughts as things were brought up. That's Websleuths for you where posters almost always work together to learn everything they can in a joint effort.

I just wish we could have had Annie found alive. She was taken way before her time. Her death is a great loss to the betterment of us all.

Now for her Justice, and I hope it will be swift and sure! xox
couldn't agree more with you Scandi my friend! You know what I would love to see happen? That the work she has done already is published/put to use the way she wanted it to be.. that other students and scientists can further her work and put her name in lights for the credit.

Yes, we have:

Bennett, for his part, said he was first contacted by police late Tuesday after Le’s roommate reported her missing.

He emphasized that his eight-person laboratory team, of which Le is a member, works closely together and, as such, her colleagues noticed her absence quickly.

“There was certainly immediate concern about her whereabouts,” Bennett said. “And they grew over the course of the day,” especially after she missed a pathology class for which she is a teaching assistant.

Bennett described Le as an extremely diligent and well-organized student. He added that she was always aware of her surroundings and took appropriate precautions when leaving the lab late at night.

My mistake. We haven't heard anything from Bennett about canceling of class.

This doesn't mention that the class was actually cancelled just that she missed it. It wouldn't have made sense to cancel first day of class if she was just TAing it, and not teaching it herself. Robek's class is a 600 level course and I don't think she would have been teaching the class on her own, but I'm not sure of that.

There might be info on her computer regarding who she was to meet at the lab that day. Maybe someone with an unhealthy crush/obsession. I have found no news that the professor was cleared as a suspect, hes my first choice. Fellow classmate, second choice. I think the cops/feds already have a pretty good idea who did it and are holding most of the info back.

This is just my opinion.

Edit: Clarify, no news that the professor was or was not a suspect.

Where do you get that Bennett canceled the class?

I'M REALLY UP TO DATE ON BENNETT AND SCHLESSINGER

All we know is that there have been media reports that a class was canceled. we don't know whose class it is. we don't even know that a class was canceled. media also reports that the proffesor whose class it was has been questioned. some have SPECULATED it is Robek's 2p pathology class.

We do know puffster - it's was mentioned in thread #1 many times that the pathology class was cancelled...it was reported as Bennet's class, but now we know different. We don't know who cancelled it. Students received the message. That was reported and unless it's all wrong - well I can change it onthe time-line, no problem. but not until I hear something different. Sorry

there was an explanation for that earlier - Annie was the TA and was going to hand out the syllabus, making it a short class. That's what I remember. Right now, it could all be different, but that's what was reported earlier.

Was the fire alarm automatic or did it need to be set off by someone? Sounds like it could have been someone in maintenance who killed her, then activated the alarm to have time to dispose of the body without being seen. Possibly, someone who has been watching her awhile and become fixated on her.

Puffster, you seem to know a lot about this Professor Schlessinger. Do you by any chance know if he ever attended or taught at other schools in the US?

I am really curious about this as my father was a professor of zoology and biology at a midwestern university and I vividly recall a Schlessinger that worked with my father.

I was a youngster back then, but even then I felt the "willies" whenever I was around that man. He just seemed to have a creepy look in his eyes when he would look at me.

University: Professor is not a suspect in disappearance
BY PAUL NEEDHAM

University Vice President and Secretary Linda Lorimer shot down reports this morning that the authorities believe a professor may be involved in the disappearance of Annie Le MED ’13.

The New York Daily News, citing an anonymous police source, reported today that police questioned an unnamed Yale professor on Friday after learning he canceled his class on Tuesday around the time Le went missing. The New York Post published a similar article, citing a report on the Fox affiliate WTIC-TV in Hartford, and the stories have quickly spread around the Web.

In an interview this morning, Lorimer said that headlines like one on the Fox News Web site saying "Yale Professor Questioned in Graduate Student's Disappearance" are entirely misleading.

Calling the phrase a "typical Fox News hysterical headline," Lorimer added that the police are "interviewing tons of people" and there is no reason to believe any professor is a suspect in Le’s disappearance.

Good thinking about the different clothing!!!
Another thought, what if the killer is another woman?

Anything sure is possible in our society today that is for sure, i.b but for some reason I think this is going to turnout that she was most likely raped and that was the motive and she was killed because she knew her attacker.

Heartbreaking. Today was to be one of the happiest days of her life.

imo

Here here, nursebeeme! :aktion033: What a nice thought. I'll bet that does indeed happen.

I can't tell by the name, but is the friend a female? I thought it was a male.

But a friend and fellow student, Xiao Hung, told Fox 5 News that on a prior occasion near the building, Le "had been approached by other people and she managed to get in the car and escape from that incident."

That post had nothing to do with the class being canceled. It was a response to Puffster's writing that we'd heard nothing from Bennett.

However, to address your post, Teaching Assistants (TAs) do teach classes all by themselves under the guidance and supervision of a professor. But the professor rarely attends the class, except maybe once to evaluate his assistant or give his favorite lecture. The reason they're called TA's is to distinguish them from other non-teaching assistants, like research assistants (RA's), etc.

I'd also like to emphasize that Bennett is not in a position to cancel another professor's class.

I was so sad to return home this evening and hear the news of Annie's body. May she rest in peace and may justice be done!
