CT- Annie Le, missing from Yale, thread #4 FOUND DECEASED

The suspect doesn't attend Yale but could get into a secure facility? So much for building security.

I've been to Yale's medical complex many times, including the buildings on Cedar and Amistad. It's like any other building with keycard access. You can't get in without a keycard, but if someone is entering the building, you can follow them in through the temporarily open door. You could also wait outside until you see someone leaving the building, and then do the same. Students are told not to hold the doors open for others, but you know how it is. It's not very polite to slam the door or force it to close quickly if you can see someone coming, and I observed that most people around Yale hold doors open for others if they see someone approaching - especially if they look like a student (as opposed to a person who looks kind of scary) and it's during the day.

Labrat has posted about an autoclave it might have something to do with it. They were in a lab with plenty of chemicals I'm sure it would be easy to disfigured her or maker her unrecognizable.

I don't think anything like that happened. It would be a completely unnecessary risk for very little gain. What would be the point? One person missing, one body of the right size right in the building. Besides, now that there's DNA it wouldn't matter if she were disfigured.

It would also complicate things tremendously- it would be much harder to handle/dispose of a body treated that way.

I think whoever did this wanted to hide the body quickly. If they had planned this in a way to not be caught, they would have done it somewhere else entirely.

The lab building is staffed with whoever they've hired to work there. Some are Yale grad students, some are Yale faculty. Some of the workers could be students (even night students) elsewhere. Why not?

I wouldn't think it would be out of the question.

It's about access and timing.

Except, if folks hold doors open for eachother after a single swipe, you really can't know who went into what area on which swipe, can you?

It's easy, but ... not so easy.

I have a feeling video will be key here.

TY for the info! I admit, I know very little about college security. Back in my day, they had none!

Excuse me for my ignorance on this subject, but are students from other universities allowed access to Yale labs?

Hi, Kimster, a good question. It would surprise me. The media statement didn't indicate that the suspect was from another university, just that he might have been. It could be that he is from another Yale division, e.g. the schools of Business, Law, or International Relations: At Harvard, Yale, M.I.T., and other large elite colleges, they sometimes make that distinction.

IF the perp is not a student at Yale...maybe she let him/her in? Can they punch a button from a lab room and open an outside door for someone?

Snipped...

She might have let him into the lab, but how did he get into the building if he wasn't a Yale student? How did he know where in the building she would be?

This is much like Caylee's case when she was found.Of course ,she was skeletonized, but we all knew it was Caylee, just as we all knew this was Annie Le. Knowing this is here, even recognizing this was her is very different from scientifically identifying her.LE even said they assumed this was her and that's a big concession for any LE before an official ID is made.
In this day and age we are so used to instant everything we forget that some things still have to go through there proper channels. If you compare this with other missing cases ,it has all gone incredibly fast. JMO

IF LE doesn't release the name of the perp soon, I will have to resort to chewing my arm off!!!

Wasn't she in an autoclave?

No.....not at all!.....that was pure wild speculation....which is pretty much impossible! Most all autoclaves are for small lab equipment, beakers, tubes, etc. The autoclave is actually more likely to be the source of some steam, but that has been reported to come from a lab hood, instead.

Puffster, why in the world would you be sorry you ever posted this? This is how we figure things out...even if it seems trivial to you. Smile and quit getting your panties/boxers in a binch> Trust me, that's a joke...please smile sugar :blowkiss:
I know, I know. I should have realized when I first saw it that it was wrong. My first reaction was WTF. Let's face it. If this was anything...it would be all over the place. But USA Today...big mistake.

I've been too upset all day to post. I'm hoping, though, that they are saying the public doesn't have to worry about a killer on the loose because they have found two bodies.

Most likely not, the Connecticut University is just how they are describing Yale, here. The University of Conn. is called just that, if not shortened just to UConn. so I am sure that is not what they meant at all.

The other student death was a mistaken link......that happened TWO years ago, it is just that the dates were the same week.

Two bodies???? Who is the other person?

The other body was from 2007 and posted by mistake. It is a rumor that has taken off like a match in a wheat field!

I'm not trying to stir anything up! No, I've just been upset about Annie, that's all. I thought, among other possibilities, that maybe whoever killed her freaked out and killed himself. I don't believe that, really.

Are there security desks in the lobbies?

Nancy Grace will be covering this case at 8pm eastern on CNN Headline News, for everyone interested.

That would explain why police believe no one else is in danger (as reported by some news stories), if in fact that is what they believe. However, if they found another body, you'd think police would have announced that (or news of that would have leaked).

Also, the suspect has been polygraphed, so you'd like to assume they didn't test a dead person.
