WALLINGFORD, CT (WFSB) - Police are on scene of an active investigation near the Quinnipiac Trail.

Officials say that they received a report around 1:30 p.m. for a report of a body discovered in the water.

The trail is not closed at this time.

Police say that this is an active and ongoing investigation.

WALLINGFORD — Police are investigating a possible murder after the body of 17-year-old boy was found in the Quinnipiac River on Sunday afternoon.

Police said the two kayakers found the body of Nolvin Diaz in the Community Lake behind the senior center in Wallingford around 1 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Cheryl Bradley said in a release Monday.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Body of 17-year-old recovered in Wallingford lake, foul play suspected


Police said in a statement Monday they believe someone tried to submerge the teen.

“The Connecticut State Police were called in to assist with the crime scene and they have divers in the lake today, looking for any additional evidence as our detectives continue with the investigation,” Bradley said.
