Acting Chief Neil O'Leary said, “We have collected evidence at that scene, which leads us to believe there is foul play connected to her disappearance. We have also recovered her vehicle which was reported missing at the same time she was."

Police found evidence inside and outside the 2005 black Jeep Liberty on Cemetery road, but the most shocking piece of evidence was a bloody sleeping bag discarded on Woodtick Road.

"Along with a piece of nylon rope,” continued Acting Chief O'Leary. “We have a person of interest. His name is Patrick Cannon. He is the husband of Cynthia Cannon. He is the person who reported Cynthia missing.""

“I know they were separating and there were some issues at home,” commented JD. “But like I said, I certainly wouldn't expect anything like what appears to be happening."
The acting police chief told News 8 there was an incident of domestic violence about four-and-a-half years ago, but Cynthia never filed a report with police.

Thank you so much for the link. I'm not a Facebook member and I can't view "Bio" or anything beyond the first page, but in this case, just seeing his picture is quite enough. One article says he's 44, but man, he looks more like mid-fifties.

This link is pulling up some woman's facebook when I click on it....I don't get it!!! I would like to see the guy's face. Rats.

ETA: OK never mind... I tried googling the name along with "facebook" and it brought up a page I am assuming is the guy.

Wow, what a horrible marketing video. He didn't even comb his hair or have a working script.
He doesn't seem to have a 'real' job....just a few weeks ago, he was hawking some other item (per facebook page).

Regardless, clearly they had marital problems....but I wonder what set him off THAT day. It seems more like a fit of rage and not something planned, given the vast amount of evidence found in and around the home and vehicle. I feel so bad for their children. Now they've lost both parents.

A Wolcott man was charged with murder after the disappearance of his wife, police said. Patrick Cannon, 44, was taken into police custody late Sunday night in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Cynthia Cannon.Cynthia Cannon had been missing since Thursday night, police said. Wolcott police said Patrick Cannon notified police Friday of his wife's disappearance.

Police said Sunday that Cynthia Cannon's 2005 black Jeep Liberty was found on Cemetery Road at about 10:15 a.m. They said there was enough evidence to suggest foul play. They said a bloodied sleeping bag was found in the area of Wood Tick Road.

Police said a witness saw Patrick Cannon walking on Spindle Hill Road near where evidence was found Friday morning.

Officers used cadaver dogs to search for Cynthia Cannon in a swamp area by Cemetery Road. A source told Eyewitness News that because of a strained marriage, Cynthia Cannon was sleeping on the couch.

Police: Husband killed wife he reported missing
Police to resume search today for Wolcott woman's body

Investigators also found a bloody sleeping bag on Woodtick Road next to the Scoville Reservoir. Acting Police Chief Neil O'Leary said friends identified the sleeping bag as the one Cynthia Cannon used during a recent Girl Scout camping trip. Police also found nylon rope and other evidence in the Cannon home, and in Cynthia Cannon's SUV.

"There is no doubt Cynthia Cannon has been the victim of a homicide. This is a very tragic incident. We all feel very badly," O'Leary said.

O'Leary said a witness saw Patrick Cannon walking on Spindle Hill Road on Friday morning between 9:30 and 10 a.m. The witness said he had mud in his boots and on his clothing.

Four state police dogs and dozens of officers searched an area dense with brush on Cemetery Road in Waterbury on Sunday, Mother's Day. O'Leary said the search, interrupted only by night fall, would resume this morning.

Patrick Cannon, who used to live in the New Britain area, was being represented by an attorney from the public defender's office in Waterbury. He did not speak to police under the advice of his attorney. Police were waiting for a warrant to search his body for evidence, including DNA and any signs of struggle wounds.
