oh, that article states they called from a payphone....

and two witnesses called in to report seeing a gunman so I am leaning towards it not being a hoax.

I heard that one of the witnesses that saw the gunman, the police have now determined that that witness actually saw a responding police officer.

The payphone thing makes me suspicious. I suspect this is going to turn out to be just some jerk that wanted to stir up a lot of "excitement" and waste everyone's time.
