The family members of a missing Preston man who has dementia are hoping dozens of volunteers show up at Dolittle Rd. on Saturday to help look for 72-year-old Henry Hood. The family says it has been four weeks since he got out of his house through a basement window.

*****
“(Neighbors) please, please check their sheds, their garages, their boats, their RVs," Hood's daughter-in-law, Kimberly Boyle, said. "Any outbuildings, we need them to check those buildings."

*****
Boyle says Hood was under family supervision at home, where all doors were kept locked and secure, but he got out through a basement window. Now Boyle is leading a volunteer search this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dolittle Rd.

A large-scale search is planned for this weekend in hopes of finding an elderly man who disappeared in late October.

*****
His family is organizing the upcoming weekend search, which will be Saturday, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers are needed. Anyone interested in helping with the search is asked to meet at 13 Doolittle Rd., Preston.

How sad. Given the colder temperatures, I don't think he's alive, especially in pajamas.

This just breaks my heart. The family was trying to keep him safe, who would have thought he'd climb out a basement window. I don't think he's alive at this point, but I do hope he is found and brought home to be laid to rest.

The group Exploring with a Mission, which helps families recover loved ones and solve cold cases, organized a search alongside Hood's daughter-in-law, Kim Boyle, on Saturday, state police said. At about 1 p.m., Hood's body was found near Linda Court and Ross Road, a heavily wooded area with several homes, state police said. A medical examiner later was called and the body was identified as Hood, state police said.
