It does sound like J's parents were trying to be vigilant about her online safety-- the article above states they had knowledge of her accounts and passwords. Although, like most teens she still found a way to have a secret e-mail account.

If she is so naive, as described, I would be surprised if she would be savvy enough to communicate with someone online without police being able to uncover it so far. If she was communicating with someone I think the most likely way (judging by the fact that police haven't found anything pertinent from her computer activity yet) would be via an app on iPhone or iPad touch that needs the actual device to be traced.

I am actually sort of hoping she did leave with someone who promised her a 'better life'-- while that is terrifying, it leaves more hope than the other strong possibility-- her harming herself.

This broke my heart!
This sweet girl must have really been hurting, yet, took the time to write a letter explaining why she left.

So very sad for her. Wish I could hug her. Right now.

A city teen missing for more than two weeks was found "in good health" in Longmont, Colo. and a man has been charged with kidnapping, police announced Wednesday night...

Longmont Police Department said they received information just after noon on Wednesday from the FBI that led them to B who was in an apartment in the city limits.

Timothy Wind, 53, was charged about 2 p.m. with second-degree kidnapping and internet explotation, Longmont police said. Police said they suspect Wind drove to Connecticut and returned with B.

Wind is suspected of travelling from Longmont to Connecticut and returning to Longmont with the victim. Police believe she has been with Wind since she went missing on Aug. 25. The Boulder County Housing and Human Services are currently caring for and working with the victim's family on reunification, according to reports.

Wow... what kind of 50-something 'man' do you have to be to take advantage of a naive 14-year-old girl! He probably has children twice her age!!! I am so glad she was found, but I am so sick of older men acting as internet predators and taking these young girls away from their home to take advantage of them!!

She was very lucky she was found safe, this creep could and probably would have murdered her when he was tired of her.

I wish this story had made more headlines nationally, she probably would have been found sooner...but it is so true what that woman who organized the vigil said. Hispanics and blacks just don't get the media coverage others do and I think heavy people get even less attention.

KUSA reports that Wind met J on a kids' Web site run by Disney and had planned the abduction for more than a year. Investigators said he took her on a "honeymoon" across the country.

Police said Wind traveled to Connecticut and returned to Colorado with J... he took her to the place where his parents met and stopped in New York, New Jersey, and Kansas before arriving in Longmont...

His bond was set at $100,000 in court Thursday and a judge ordered that Wind have no contact with children.

Poor J... from what we learned at the start of this case it sounds like she was already struggling. Now I fear she is in for an even more difficult time. The impact of what she has been through will affect her more than she yet knows. I hope her parents will get her professional help ASAP-- and for the long-term, not just a few weeks.

Hoping for peace and help for this young girl. I also wish that things had not escalated to this. Maybe she can get the attention she needs and get on the right track, but this may take professional help.
