The answer to that question is simple: There was evidence in two places.JS just showed the trash, bloody ponchos -- why not burn that?
[I don't know. Ask Michelle.]
In the Tacoma in Farmington where they could be quickly gathered and taken to 4JC to be burned before PG arrived back into town at the end of the workday: the bags of bloody paper towels from the cleanup of the garage at 69 Welles Ln, New Canaan.
Somewhere else, where JFD's body was taken independent of the Tacoma and which was not close enough to Farmington to run over to 4JC for a quick burn, but which was accessible sometime after PG returned the Raptor and prior to traveling to Albany Ave: the bags containing items more closely related to the murder and disposal of JFD (the t-shirt, the bra, the gloves, the ponchos, the mop handle).
