Yes, that was a brick house, large and no doubt damp. It would have taken a few weeks of 70 degree temps to take the chill out of the house too imo given all the stone and brick. MOO
Still, who makes a fire when you are running in and out of the house?

Yikes. It looks like a real prison!
Ain't no country club.
MOO.
The York Correctional Institution is a high-security facility. It serves as the state's only institution for female offenders. It serves all superior courts in Connecticut and manages all pretrial and sentenced female offenders, whatever their security level. Source: State of CT website

MT's family is hard to listen to.

Such venom.

MT is alive. They can visit her, fill her commissary account, update her on all things family.

Their anger is grossly misdirected.

JS says her dad is a cardiac surgeon, that he was forced basically to abandon clients to be in court. No, he didn't. That was a choice. He chose poorly IMO.

Her mother, devastated? Seriously? Again, MT is alive. Her living arrangements are about to change but she's still alive. They have family, the daughter still has a mother and a father and extended families.

I've heard enough. Cut their Mike's.

JMO
OMG. He called them clients, as in he took a hit financially?
Not that his patients suffered due to his absence?
Unreal!

Yes, MT again wasn't thinking anyone would question her on the details.

Cash bond is easiest legally - a 2 party transaction - no Bondsman/Surety intermediary. A family member or equivalent, on behalf of the defendant/felon, puts up the total bail amount, in cash, to the Court as assurance that that the defendant/felon returns from bail. The Court holds the money until bail has been complied with. The family member will get money back, minus fees, if the terms of bail are met (showing back up and not violating bail terms). If the defendant/ felon does not return - the whole amount is forfeited to the Court.

Surety bond is more complicated - a 3 party transaction. Really the only option at $6M. The team of a Bondsman, backed by a Surety Company, enters into a binding legal contract with the Court, on behalf of defendant/felon, assuring $6M could be liquidated by the Bondsman/Surety, for the benefit of the Court, if defendant/Felon disappears. The Court is not in the business of tracking down money from fleeing felons. The Court gets the $6M. Underneath the Surety Bond - a Family member pays a percentage of the bail in cash (amounts vary) and must secure the non cash remainder with collateral. The Bondsman/Surety can liquidate the family assets if the defendant/felon flees in order to offset the amount they gambled away on the Surety bond.

This is why bond will takes days in this case. Financial security for $6M will not be easy.
Thank you for explaining clearly!!

I don't think we know yet. MOO
I’m going to optimistically say yes. I’ve never seen a televised jury instruction conference - so why stop the cameras now.

lol Petu (eyeroll)
I saw the first interview on the courtroom steps when Petu spoke.
The next was through a news site and they cut her off while she was saying I want to be heard.

Did you see they have 1500+ inmates?
The federal prisons are a different caliber of people, right?
She's with real criminals.
Yikes. Creeps me out.
I could never watch the popular OITNB.

Info on Jennifer's Law:

Summary
In the 2021 legislative session, the Connecticut legislature passed a domestic violence-related law (PA 21-78) that established a general definition of domestic violence that includes coercive control (defined below) as a form of domestic violence. This law was coined “Jennifer’s Law.”

Yes, her child support runs out I believe at 18 and I don't believe you can work from prison. Not sure what else the family can do other than support her financially.

This is a CT State Prison and the only one in the State of CT that is female only.

CT also has Federal Prisons but MT was tried in State Court so will go to State Prison.

Yes, the prison she is going to is a high security prison (has different levels of security it seems). Moo
