IMHO, LE seems to prefer having the body before prosecuting a murder case. Otherwise, the defense will argue that the victim is missing, not deceased.

Also, it’s way easier to prosecute bc potentially there will be evidence as to her cause of death, how violent it may have been, instrument(s) used, whether she struggled, poison ivy?, evidence of any collusion with others, conspiracy to commit a crime. All kinds of evidence to help put pieces together. Most importantly, if there was an accomplice during the commission of the crime or shortly thereafter. Not necessarily just that evening.
IMO, I think MT was a way after the fact accomplice. But not to the murder itself.

If it were not for the Luminol.

Don't forget about the 30 bags of trash deposited on Albany Avenue in the Hartford Area.

Those bags had to be in the vehicle used to drive back and forth between New Canaan and Farmington.

EE (Ex Employee) had the Ford Raptor that Friday in NC and by that evening 'date night' on Albany Avenue with MT, FD had the Ford Raptor again.

Hindsight proves FD should have disposed of the 30 bags earlier in the day or even along with JD.

Instead, we have IMO, FD's mug shot all over Albany Avenue in the Hartford Area.
Ah, but disposing of the bags in the same location as the body would eliminate the possibility (if the body was found) that Some Other Dude abducted and killed her. That's his only possible defense, because if she had committed suicide, she clearly would not have been able to hide her own body, and she'd be within walking distance of her vehicle. MOO

Every time I start thinking of the possibilities I remind myself to start with the most simple first. Because while we are out coming up with intricate plans the answer was right in front of our face. Defense strategy right now may be to cause us to look elsewhere, overwhelm us with possibilities, and then cause frustration and defeat. And yet the answer is right in front of us still.
IMO the simplest theory would be that he had no accomplices. The banging in the early morning (of the day after) being related would also complicate things.

Burner phone that has been destroyed and tossed.
Exactly! I forgot to add the burner phones for communicating, in my theory!

Luminol is what LE uses to determine if blood is present.

It lights up when sprayed on blood and the lights are turned off.

Even if blood is not seen by the naked eye, the Luminol will find it and light it up.

So, FD could have thought he cleaned the garage well.

I understand that LE saw some substance in the garage that looked like it could be blood so they called the forensic's team in for the Luminol.

LE then determined that a 'Serious Physical Assault' happened in JD's garage at 69 WL on Friday, May 24, 2019.

Except that we already know MT is an accomplice if only after the fact .

I think you are correct that cameras were there and were possibly removed by LE as evidence. We haven't been briefed by LE so hopefully if/when that does happen that the camera issue will be resolved. But most security systems these days have cameras and given her situation I would be SHOCKED if there was no camera. I am also waiting to see if possibly a FD SPYCAM is found on the property or driveway or Welles as doing something like this seems totally within his 'win at all costs' MO IMO!
On Wed. June 5th, News 8 report (with photo) showed a security
camera on outside of JD's rental home at 69 Welles Lane.

I like this . Makes one go back to the beginning and see things in a hindsight light . After being subject to sensationalized theories that read like an Agatha Christie novel , it’s easy to see that the answer is right there .
So what is the simplest answer ?
My own theory
FD planned to murder JD. He ambushed her in her garage after she pulled in . He approached on foot parking his vehicle at another location . He made me it quick as to not draw attention if JD struggled or screamed . He put her body in the Suburban . Called MT to help with the clean up . He moved her body to one of his properties and then abandoned the suburban at the park. Then proceeded to dispose of her body in the woods somewhere (explains poison ivy ).
Only thing that is puzzling .... is did she have cameras and if so had they been disabled ?
BBM. If I'm not mistaken, MT has an alibi for the morning and (IMO) FD was out of NC by noon. If she helped, it wasn't in NC. I also think that he didn't need to take the body to one of his properties.

Except that we already know MT is an accomplice if only after the fact .

Luckily, if she truly was involved (meaning involved in the planning and knew exactly what had happened and was going on with the trashbin odyssey of stupidity) CT doesn’t recognize accomplices or after the fact. She will be charged with murder if they bring murder charges. There won’t be a lesser included charge of being an “accomplice” like they do in other states.

So aiding and abetting isn’t a Crime in CT?

I wonder when this photo was taken? Looks like FD managed to sneak his “paramour” on a ski trip with his kids, against court order...or was there ever a time when he was allowed to have the kids exposed to her?
This is an interesting article. If you read about his education and experience it talks about his management consulting work and his project management skills which he apparently outlined quite well. So if he acts irrrationally he also has the project management skills to plan and execute a murder. I cannot help but think more and more that he planned this as he got more heat about finances.

I wonder if the LE has a record of his phone and driving activity well before the murder. It could tell us something about how much he scouted locations for disposing of JD.

I keep trying to think like a murderer and what I would do if my plan went wrong. I do think FD was originally planning to make it look like JD was abducted and murdered at Waveny Park.

He did get her car there and was planning to put her body there, also, but then everything (Plan A) went wrong with the amount of blood in the garage. And how it would also be found in his vehicles and on his properties. He had to come up with an alternate plan (B)
BBM. IMO he never planned to leave the body. If she was missing, he would be much harder to prosecute. Also, there could have been evidence found on her body, linking him to the scene. A lot of circumstances could be gleaned from the body.
Knowing that his vehicles and properties would be the first places LE checked, I doubt JD was ever placed in or at either.

I think FD hired someone to transport JD’s body in their own vehicle, to a place as far from New Canaan, Farmington, Avon... in fact, away from CT, as far as possible.
He already had his employee's vehicle and could have done the transport himself.

Good to know. No wonder she looks so worried.

I find it very strange that he did this - there has to be a better less conspicuous place to discard them.

Very true and I agree with you 100%.

However, I was commenting on the Websluether that suggested that every aspect was done with JD's vehicle so as to keep evidence associated with JD's vehicle and therefore not the vehicle that FD drove to and from NC.

However, we know that this aspect did not happen, because FD took the bags of evidence with him back to Farmington in a vehicle that was not JD's Suburban.

I do not think that FD would want evidence found in JD's Suburban, if FD was trying to make it look like an abduction at the park.

All IMO.

I agree with your thinking about what/when/where/how to avoid surveillance cameras in certain towns, roads, etc.

I keep trying to think like a murderer and what I would do if my plan went wrong. I do think FD was originally planning to make it look like JD was abducted and murdered at Waveny Park.

I hate to say it, but there are a ton of shady characters, including Mafia, in the contracting business. (There are several known Mafia families through-out CT)

I don’t think it would be too hard for FD to find someone that would take JD’s body and place her somewhere where she’d never be found (ala Jimmy Hoffa?)

I’m still not sure if, according to my theory, FD’s plans included someone helping him before the blood spatter in the garage or if he had to come up with finding someone ASAP afterwards.

I tend to be leaning towards he had help, other than MT, from the beginning, for transporting JD to Waveny. But then there had to be the change of plans and the helper placed JD in his vehicle, as originally planned ... but he just kept going, past Waveny Park, and on into NY or NJ and deposited JD’s body, somewhere never to be found.

MOO

Unless I've missed it, we also haven't talked about the incongruity of FD seeming to suddenly stalk the NC area once he was released from lockup... when he was conveniently, supposedly, nowhere near there the day that JD disappeared. I wish I could be more specific, as @LittleBitty is with timelines, but it's all on WS in members' awesomely posted MSM posted clips:
  • Almost immediately after he was released, he had an urgent need to go to the Sturbridge (NC) property to "dust up"
  • Soon after, he's sighted at Sturbridge (apparently doing some more dusting up with his niece), and then seen walking and eating sushi with his niece in downtown NC
  • Then last week, he's back at Sturbridge with his bro from Mass ... more dusting up, presumably?
  • And on Saturday, a WS member noted (acknowledging that there's no MSM report to cite) that in the Norwalk Home Depot, an employee mentioned that FD had been there that day. Odd in that there's a HD in Bristol, which is four miles away from Farmington, and guaranteed no more of a hassle to shop at than the 6-or-so miles away craziness of Connecticut Avenue (Rt. 1) where that HD in Norwalk is situated.
I would love to know how much time FD was previously spending in NC. Would neighbors/shopkeepers, etc. recognize him? Would have been nice if, in that news video with the Massachusetts license plates, the reporter (who, regardless, did a great job in capturing an unscripted moment) had asked the neighbor who agreed to be interviewed, "Have you ever seen FD here before? Is it unusual for him to be on-site?"

EBM to include "the neighbor who agreed to be interviewed"

And the rats are fleeing the ship .
This is worth reading. Scroll down halfway and the motion text states that considerations other than compensation are driving the request and that representing him violates professional ethics. Hope the LE sees this.
