“Jennifer Dulos was my constituent,” said Bergstein, who reps Greenwich and parts of Stamford and New Canaan. “This is an issue that is real and present every day in all parts of state and every community. We need to address it head on.” The number of motions of filed in Family Court by JD and FDis a red flag to domestic violence advocates, who say the court can be used as another weapon for abuse.
“We just keep hearing from victims frustration with family court,” said Sen. Mae Flexer, D-Killingly, who led the forum.

Connecticut socialite charged in disappearance of her lover's wife appears in court in Ralph Lauren | Daily Mail Online

The more time that goes by, the less concerned MT or FD seem to be. This picture is just worrisome.....mom and daughter look actually carefree and happy!!! WTF!! It could be a paparazzi pic from a movie premier with a caption like "despite the rainy weather, the celebs really enjoyed themselves at tonights premier!!"
Bizarre photo. If this is a what a socialite is I am glad I am not one!

I think NP is making the public really NOT like him and FD. Maybe FD can sue NP for all these crazy antics instead of proper legal guidance. Can a client sue his lawyer if he isn’t paying him. What a mess.
There is a kind of narcissist called a covert narcissist; they are experts at playing the victim and turning everything into their victimization.

She looks nothing like her Mother. Love the white wedding gown dress.o_O

Inconceivable. Patience really is a virtue. SWAT team, get ready to pounce!

I don't understand. MT's bail conditions were not to leave the state of CT and that if her ankle monitor wasn't working that she was to return to CT. Why would the SWAT team need to be involved because she returned to CT?

Thank God for this!! This is a red flag that was and continues in this case!!! In addition, FD can’t even show up for his deposition, twice now, evading responsibility...this also is another example that demonstrates how unfit as a parent he really is- can’t make the appointments even for himself....he has so many balls in the air right now, he better not get those kids!!!!!!!!

Oh, no worries! It’s fine! I can quite understand what you mean about the two poles of good and evil, and how it is that we don’t have anything positive to say about FD and MT. Absolutely, there is good in everyone somewhere, somehow; speaking only for myself, of course, it is the terrible unfairness of JD being gone while FD and MT are not just still here but also seem to be throwing that in our faces that makes it seem, at times when it looks like one or both of them have skated by with seemingly no repercussions while JD is gone and her kids and those who loved her are mourning her absence and what looks like—feels like—injustice after injustice. I definitely believe LE and justice will prevail but the wait is hard and worse at times like today when it seems like once again, “the bad guys won.” My post was my way of screaming into the abyss that JD prevailed in at least the sense that she has not been erased or minimized in our memories; your feelings and reactions are yours and of course just as valid. Rather like some people refer to nonalcoholic, carbonated beverages as soda, others say pop, and my southern relatives just call it all Coke, we’re all just putting our individual words to a shared sadness. In the end, I don’t think anyone can win; I just can’t bear for it to feel like JD has lost anything else when she’s already lost what seems, based on all we’ve heard about her, to have meant the most to her, life with her children. We’re all grieving here whether we knew JD or not, and I’m just glad we’re all here to stand and do what we can for her—and each other. I meant it when I said I was sorry if what I had written had upset you and I very much appreciate your kind and thoughtful words here. Thank you so much and thank you to everyone else here for bringing and sharing your light to the dark. Take care and thanks again to you and all for being here, literally and figuratively. I apologize that this is so long and that I am now too lazy to edit it and need to get on with this day!

You did not offend me. Not in the least. I was just appalled at what we lost and what they seem to have won.
Please believe me. Absolutely no offense taken. I’m still appalled as I reread your haunting words. You wrote what we all feel and we are powerless to make it better.
Keep speaking your mind. And all of us will continue to speak as well.
Everyone have a great day!

I’m sorry... I meant that I’m trying hard to be patient for LE to complete their investigation and make their arrests for murder so they’ll be justice served for Jennifer her family and friends.

You and I both, brother. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I think of Mickey Sherman in the Martha Moxley Murder case.
"In October 2013, Superior Court Judge Thomas Bishop in Connecticut found that Sherman had rendered ineffective assistance to another former client, Michael S. Skakel, who had been convicted of murdering Martha Moxley in Greenwich, Connecticut. Although Sherman had been paid nearly $1.2 million to defend Skakel, in a 136-page scathing opinion Judge Bishop heavily criticized Sherman's legal representation because Sherman was representing Skakel while trying to placate the IRS, Sherman failed to follow up leads, and was too distracted by the media spotlight and rendered ineffective assistance of counsel to Michael Skakel. In the same 136 page opinion, Judge Bishop vacated Michael S. Skakel's conviction for murder and ordered a new trial.[17] The State of Connecticut appealed, and Mr. Skakel was released on bond pending the appeal. On December 30, 2016, the Connecticut Supreme Court determined Sherman's representation of Skakel had been ineffective and vacated Skakel's conviction, but left it up open to the State's Attorney's Office to bring a new trial. No decision has been made as of yet by the State's Attorney. Mickey Sherman - Wikipedia

They are asking to be reimbursed for the Attys time
A total of 2,090 for 3.8 hrs preparation and attendance at deposition
@hivee, Basic jist is that the firm no longer wants to represent FD/FORE in the matter against the Farber Estate/GF. The firm had to give a reason for not being involved and so said that the firm was dissolving and the partner involved was 71 years old and was going to exit the litigation practice and focus on immigration law. Mmmm. Acceptable reasons sure but probably skating around the real reasons for jumping ship and heading for the hills IMO!

The motion also stated that there were other atty's involved with FD/FORE and I took this to mean Pattis & Crew. My guess is that this issue of 'too many cooks' in terms of legal counsel might have become uncomfortable/annoying/counterproductive so this atty just hit the eject button on the case and the relationship with FD and said I'm not going to do this. All speculation on my part. My guess also is that Pattis wanted to stay in the background on the civil action but dictate to this atty what to do and that is frankly an awful position to put another professional in given the standards they are held to professionally etc. Also, think about how professionally embarrassing it is for an atty to represent someone and that person choose to not show up for court? My guess is that it was Pattis & Crew that told FD to be a 'no show' and this fact really must have pissed off the atty of record as it was totally unprofessional as my guess is that they showed up for the deposition but their client was MIA!

MOO completely here as I was reading between the lines of what was said and not said and the reality is we will never know the 'real reasons' this atty. chose to resign.

Thanks for posting this fantastic article! Its good to see 2 folks from Hartford representing the district speak out on DV and Family Court. Reform is clearly needed and I hope change does occur but the CT Judiciary has been resistant to change for a very very long time unfortunately. Will continue to watch the progress of the issue in Hartford and see if any changes are made.

I do though keep going back to the entire process of judicial review for Family Court Judges who get 8 year appointments with essentially rubber stamped renewals so far as I can tell.

If you recall there was the issue where FD tried to get Judge Heller removed from the case by contacting her husband to represent him in the matter. Judge Heller made a comment during this exchange that she wasn't going anywhere in the case because she had just gotten notice that she had been approved/renewed for another 8 year term. The way this was said also made it appear that she was saying she was 'untouchable' by FD or anyone for that matter for 8 years. This struck me as being a somewhat unprofessional remark for a Judge to make in open court and on the record but this is just IMO.

IMO 8 year terms are way too long for Family Court judges as I believe strongly that there needs to be annual public reviews of judges where the public can participate and share their experiences vs the behind closed door proceedings that IMO seem like nothing more than rubber stamping. I don't want to speak on behalf of the DV groups in CT but my guess is that most of them if they spent time with the Dulos case file in Family Court would assess Judge Heller a generous grade of "F" for her handling of DV issues present in the case as over and over it is seen that these concerns expressed by JD/her atty were dismissed an not taken seriously by the court.

I know we have atty's on the thread that would disagree strongly with any criticism of Judge Heller and I respect their POV as being folks that are operating in the cesspit of Family Court and all its challenging issues on a daily basis. In my mind the Dulos file was large enough and the evidence of DV was clear enough that proactive judicial action was required long before the case reached the 2 year mark. I also think that senior level judicial review of the Dulos case file/handling by Family Court would be appropriate as another pair of eyes on the facts of the case might move the case in another direction vs. what we had seen from Judge Heller who so far as I can see hasn't been very aware of DV related issues or at all concerned about JD personal safety even after it was brought to her attention multiple times in court.

MOO

I can’t help it; I love the attitude in that last headline. It’s the only thing I find funny about this.
I think their choice of words showed their attitude toward her—; they don’t seem to be fans!

I "know" LE is working on the case...but the inept actions of the Court system in CT and zero updates from LE - are telling me this is going to end up being a cold case - and JD's murder will not be solved. FD and MT might get some jail time (with trips to NY with an ankle bracelet, thrown in for good measure) for their current charges; but I don't think we are going to see a murder charge. And that makes me...sad.
