Did he know that his children were going to be taken to their grandmother's in NYC that day? Did he think she'd just hand them over to him after their mother and her daughter went missing? (I'm aware that he tried to see them a couple of days later.)
He was supposed to have 7 hours of supervised visitation in Fairfield County that Saturday, so it's possible that he knew they were planning on coming back from NY. It was a holiday weekend so perhaps JD communicated something about their plans for the time of getting the kids to him on Saturday. Although, JD seems to have been very cautious about getting information to him, and there was a court appointed supervisor for the visit so its likely they communicated plans through that person.

More likely, FD probably didn't know that they planned to go to NY, because JD missing her appointments set off the search for her far earlier, and far more concerning, than he might have hoped, and the kids were already with JDs mom. If he thought they were just chilling at home in NC that day, she might not have been noticed as missing until after school or even later, and then by his Saturday morning planned visitation the gears wouldn't have started churning yet and the kids would be available for him to pick up. But they were already with JDs mom in NY.
Some have surmised that FD kept his phone on during the Hartford trash run because he was expecting a call to come get the kids since JD wasn't around.
Remember that he initially pressed to keep the custody hearing date that week even after she was reported missing, so he was clearly banking on buying some time with a runaway/mental health breakdown/abduction while running at Waveny hoax for JDs disappearance.

I think it all went south for him far faster than he expected.

Statement from CT Dept of Public Safety regarding the search of Hartford Trash Facility in Jennifer Dulos case: “It would be irresponsible to try to predict when that portion of the investigation will be complete. There are still a lot of unknowns.” (1/2). #WFSB
“But I can tell you this, in the most horrible environment, The Connecticut State police major crimes detectives have been incredibly meticulous and dedicated. They cannot be too careful.” (2/2)

You could stay out of jail for a long time if you refuse to speak to LE, and they don’t have incontrovertible evidence against you. There are tons of cases here where that’s happened. NP must be thrilled that FD hasn’t talked to the police so far.
Yeah. If you are guilty of a crime and you talk to law enforcement, you can only hurt yourself.

He accidentally brought spare license plates along?

I’m not buying the “accidental rage killing”-I think it was planned. He just didn’t carefully plan the disposal of the bags of blood covered evidence.

In my head, I can't imagine he didn't know. He saw the kids two days before; I would imagine one of them mentioned it.

Per the custody order (I posted an article way upthread I will try to find it) stated he was to see the children for 7 hours on Saturday the 25th and 7 hours on Sunday the 26th. He likely knew they would be in Ny on 5/24. It is MOO that he knew! FD knew about the New York over night trip, JMO.

This is what I don’t understand... her Suburban couldn’t have blood spatter on it parked in the garage for LE to see as it was at the park when they searched, right? The nanny had the Range Rover. The Porsche was one and what’s the second one?
JD owned 3 vehicles - her SUV found at the park 5/24, the Porsche (must have been in the garage since they indicate a vehicle had spatter) and the Land Rover which was with the nanny. No other vehicles impounded besides FD's or mentioned and the nanny is not talking. We really don't know. JMO

If it was accidental, the clean up sure wasn't. Question - are CT license plates on front and back? I've been curious about the use of plural regarding the plates but only one number listed on the warrant.
CT requires both plates, front and back

In regards to LE having more damning evidence — then why didn’t they use it for the bond hearing? They had a chance to get his bond raised or eliminated and keep him in jail. They should have used very strong evidence for that, but only used his DNA on kitchen faucet. That wasn’t enough for the judge. They had to have known it wouldn’t be. So, did they not want to reveal stronger evidence? Or is the DNA on the faucet the best they’ve got?

I still believe LE liked the idea of having FD out and about, hoping he would lead them to evidence and/or Jennifer's body. They knew this dude was no genius and many perps go back to "check on" their burial sites. (Remember Scott Peterson parked at the bay watching the search for Laci? Classic!)

They also knew FD's children were safely out of his reach and that he would be wearing the ankle monitor so they were holding all the cards. I would guess there is also LE following him.

Oh, I can imagine that it is a “horrible environment.”

Rotting food and God knows what else, doesn’t smell any better with the passage of time.

Not pleasant.

First post - regarding 5/25 at approximately 5:00 AM. Do we have any clarification whether this was a one-time loud bang or a constant banging?

See below. I’m also hung up on the Sturbridge property. Awfully early and if the red truck employee returned the truck on Friday, likely he didn’t work Saturday. Was there another employee there at the crack of dawn and what the heck was he doing?!! Or FD banging the drum closed and rolling it into his trailer as it was likely too heavy to lift into the pick-up truck. LE has the neighbor’s footage so we’ll find out in due time. MOO

I think Ct plates are on the front and back. You’d think I’d know for sure, since I am in CT every day!

There are still unknowns," he said. "It would be inappropriate to try and predict when that aspect of the investigation will be done. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes detectives can not be too careful."

Foley declined to discuss what evidence may have been culled from the mounds of trash.
Jennifer Dulos search: ‘There are still unknowns’ in Hartford trash

Apparently, they are still searching! From this quote in the article, it appears they may have found something: "It's been a lot of hard work for the detectives," Foley said. "I think they all would agree that their efforts have been worth it."

I think incontrovertible is a good word for what LE has on FD whether he talks or not.

NP doesn't really act thrilled and I'm betting he isn't except for the fact that he's getting lots of publicity.

Thanks for posting!

Also from the link you provided: Troconis has met at least twice with investigators since she posted bail on June 3.

Hmmm...;););)

Wouldn't the nanny at some point enter the garage and notice the blood smears/spatter? If JD didn't have any appointments that day they would also notice her car missing. Maybe there would be other signs in the house pointing to activity (or lack thereof) that morning.

Agreed. The fantasy didn’t match the reality.

It’s one thing to think about killing someone, but another thing entirely to deal with the aftermath.

Murder is messy, and getting away with it isn’t easy.

We already knew this.

She met with them at her attorney’s office, and again at one of FD’s properties.
