For folks interested in an Atty Bowman case here is another hometown NC doozie of a case involving John Farren and his wife (Farren was a former atty in the Bush While House). Atty Bowman represented the wife. Many were shocked that the sentence only involved a 15 yr sentence but Farren was barred from ever contacting his children by the Court.

Former White House lawyer charged with attempting to kill wife in New Canaan

Quotes from article:

His wife, 43, sustained a broken jaw, facial fractures, lacerations to the back of her head and after being beaten into unconsciousness was taken to Norwalk Hospital, a police report of the incident said.

During a discussion of John Farren's bond, his wife's attorney, Andrew Bowman, said she was the victim of a "brutal attack" with a large flashlight.

"She is terrified of him and we ask as many restrictions be placed upon him as possible," Bowman said to Judge Bruce Hudock.

In a taped interview at the hospital as she was surrounded by bloodied bed sheets and hunks of pulled-out hair, Farren's wife told police she escaped the house after hitting the panic alarm and then driving to a nearby home on Weed Street with her two daughters, a 4-month-old and a 7-year-old, after Farren tried to pull her into a bathroom with a kitchen knife, a police report said.

She said the dispute began when Farren wanted to talk to her about divorce papers she delivered to him on Monday. He wanted them to get back together, but she told police that she could not stay with him because of his explosive temper, the report said.

In the third-floor master bedroom, Farren walked toward her, but she told him not to approach and he flew into a rage, she told police.

He tackled her and began pulling out "gobs of hair," she said in the report. He then began beating her with a metal flashlight and drove her to the floor under the blows, she told police.

Bleeding heavily, she passed out and, when she came to, he began strangling her. With his hands around her neck, she lost her sight and began searching for the panic alarm with her hands, she told police.

Farren said, "don't hit the alarm button," but eventually she pushed it and the alarm began to sound, the police report said.

Hearing the alarm, "he went nuts," and began to hit her again with the flashlight, the report said.

Farren then told her he was going to slit his wrists and went and got a large knife, the report said. He went into the bathroom and tried to get her there too. Thinking that he was going to try to kill her, she ran to her daughter's bedroom and screamed, "daddy's trying to kill me," and "we have to leave now," the report said.

She got her two daughters into the car and drove to the first home that had its lights on.

After arriving at 855 Weed St., Farren's wife honked her horn and banged on the front door. The homeowners opened the door and found Farren's wife severely injured with blood streaming down her face, the police report said. She told them her husband was trying to kill her and had beaten her with a flashlight, the report said.
This woman is a hero, too. Luckily, she got out and saved herself and her daughters.
What panic button is this referring too - around her neck, like an emergency necklace, or one installed in the home?

It looks like it was some button in the MBR that was tied into the alarm, some people have them installed near their beds if they don't have a full panel in the MBR or a separate panic room.

It looks like from Google he got 15 years in prison for attempted murder? What does she do when he gets out? Geez.

Thanks for a good laugh! Perhaps he is shopping for his 'new home'!?!?!?!? But he has a house full of furniture at 4Jx so I wonder why in the world he is at HG? Bizarre IMO!?!? MOO

IDK. She won an enormous civil suit against him as well and I don't know if there is any permanent restraining order as part of that litigation as it all happened awhile ago. We all know that restraining orders won't stop a crazy person but she has resources and means so I hope she has excellent personal security for herself and her 2 girls. The entire situation was tragic. MOO

Don't read that article or research the case of J Michael Barren if you're interested in justice. Brutal, brutal assault and he got a mere 15 years, after having been out on bond for years. Coup d etat, he represented himself, insanity plea. Sane enough to put together a defense....

Victims of violence deserve far more justice than that.

Full justice for Jennifer

BBM - And it is working - she is drawing attention to herself, especially if she is reading here, she is then getting the attention she so seeks by people talking about her posts, etc.

JMO

Hope she likes the posts that say she is unattractive and that she has bad hair (is that wrong?)

How quaint that FD is able to get out and do things. I wonder if he was shopping for rugs.

Jennifer Dulos case: New attorney joins Fotis Dulos’ defense team

STAMFORD — A former Navy Judge Advocate General who started his private defense attorney career with Norm Pattis has joined the team representing Fotis Dulos.

Attorney Chris La Tronica was also on the defense team with Pattis in the case of Tony Moreno, convicted in 2017 of dropping his 7-month-old son off a Middletown bridge in a revenge murder.

La Tronica, who practices in Connecticut and New York, has filed an appearance in state Superior Court in Stamford to represent Fotis Dulos on charges related to his wife’s disappearance. Jennifer Dulos was last seen five months ago after dropping off the couple’s five children at a New Canaan school on May 24.
There's no such thing as too much talent on a legal team, so we're adding this brilliant young lawyer to prepare for the fight to come," Pattis said Thursday.

Pattis said La Tronica will also help him with the Alex Jones case.

I wonder how much work La Tronica will be really doing on the Dulos case-my guess is that he will concentrate on the Alex Jones case, and look over some of Pattis’s stuff for Dulos, because Pattis is in over his head. This is supposed to make Colangelo start to worry, which he likely wasn’t doing before. I just don’t think Dulos can stand the scrutiny of adding yet another lawyer to a case for a guy who has no real way to pay them. And, to me, it looks like either Pattis or Dulos or both aren’t confident in the eventual outcome. This is really turning into a gigantic “baggy pants farce”.

Is FD buying New dishes because he broke all the ones at 4JC during a temper tantrum?

IMO.

IMO somebody should probably let FD know that, where he's going, the dishes will be provided. Clothes and bedding too.

I'm shocked that I missed this!
That poor girl mustering up the strength to save her children and the MBR was on the third floor!!!!
He should have gotten 50 years instead of 15. Prestige and money certainly changes the story. Did he enter a guilty plea?
Is it possible JF felt she may be out of the woods since she survived for 2 years? I doubt it. Just an attempt to keep this within TOS.
MOO.

Despite that, what kind of life can she lead? Permanently scarred physically and mentally.
Hearing her speak she echoes the voice of JF and her fears. Problem is JF was silenced. She can't speak of those last moments. Still trying to get my head around a mere 15 year sentence. MOO.

Imagine you separate from your abusive husband in fear for your life. Then he starts building his houses in the same town you moved to. Then he puts his paramour’s child in the same school as your kids.
This is stalking, harassment and intimidation. This is Domestic Violence.
FD made sure Jennifer never had her freedom.
He should have never been allowed to treat her the way he did the last 2 years of post-separation abuse.

Imagine the absolute hell FD put JD and her family through. I imagine she had many tear-filled nights feeling totally trapped even after separating from him. She must have had many tear-filled phone calls with her mother. Frustrated he would not leave her alone.
It is easy to marry someone, but look how hard it is to get free from an abuser.
She was a strong woman and a brave woman. LE, GF and Weinstein will fight for her now.

@hivee, what a wonderful post.:):)
Jennifer probably had numerous 'tear filled' moments, during the marriage also, hoping things would improve.
You perfectly describe, FD's horrid actions, post separation.
We only hope, FD is arrested for murder soon, along with his girlfriend, and their past actions, are exposed for all to hear.
Prison for years, is the likely outcome, thank goodness.
MOO.

Seriously, why is he buying dishes? Is he hosting a dinner party? Seems like he has no local friends.

pattis and smith are repping Farren now

In J. Michael Farren v. Commissioner, the firm is seeking habeas corpus relief for a former Deputy White House counsel convicted of attempted murder of his wife on grounds that he had been deprived of the right to conflict free counsel at the time of his trial.
