Hello and welcome!

Just had a tragic case in FL where a perp (now charged with murder of his STBX) was wearing an ankle bracelet. I am not sure about potentially violent offenders being out on bail and wearing these bracelets makes much of a difference. We have seen absolute laxness in the CT oversight of FD and MT (1 month back in State and neither Judge nor Colangelo knew about it) of the 2 bracelet wearers in this sad case. I would feel much more comfortable with them both in jail pending trial and I firmly believe both represent significant flight risks. MOO
Just a follow up as today the Sheriff said this murder victims body was one of the worst he has ever seen in DV case. The Sheriff is calling for DV to be made a felony in the State of FL. The STBX was wearing an ankle bracelet and did violate a no contact order.

Florida sheriff calls woman's domestic abuse murder worst he's ever seen, calls for laws to change

Is that the one who removed his bracelet, then hopped a flight to western state, then took a
cruise to Mexico?
that's not uncommon around my area. People
just laugh at the ankle bracelets.
No, looks like he stayed in FL although the family says that they 'travel frequently'. Neither perp is talking so no clue as to whether he did travel with the bracelet on.

I check most everyday. But I'm no longer sure that day will ever come.
I feel your frustration and absolutely share it. The complexity of this case is unusual and will take much time. I am not sure when exactly justice will be served but I deeply hope that it will occur.

I definitely have the sense that we are in a holding pattern for the murder charges (yes, murder charges for both FD and MT), not because LE doesn’t have enough evidence, but because they are carefully and slowly developing the motive, AND because they do not want the criminal trial coming first, which it would have to do if murder charges come down now. This is one of the reasons for the relentless stalling and delaying and refusing to produce documents or otherwise cooperate. And ALL of FD’s lawyers know this-and it is especially important to NP and AB that the civil case never makes it to court before the criminal trials commence. This is one of the ugliest cases I’ve ever seen here-not because Jennifer’s murder is more heinous than any others (it isn’t), but because it has so many complicated layers to it-starting from when FD stalked and wooed Jennifer for her family’s money; a crime so long in the making that it disgusts me. I don’t think these two are the criminal masterminds that they imagine themselves to be-they’ve gotten a little lucky, but they’ve also gotten unlucky (or stupid), too. It’s hard to be patient, but I think the reward in the end will be worth it

ITA! I think they've had most of the case solid for a while for both murder charges, but that there's something going on in the background - something we can't even fathom at this point but necessary to ensure it will all "stick."

It might take many more months before they deliver their fully detailed documents and when they do they will be DOOZIES.

I have doubts that LE found enough for a slam dunk. I dont want to think that the DA would wait to file murder charges and give closure to the kids and JDs loved ones. It is part of their faith to bury as quick as possible and sit Shiva. I hope I am wrong or they find what they need.

Speaking of their faith it makes my mind reel because I think of one of the most disrespectful things Fo could have done is to have had her remains incinerated at the dump. The Jewish faith does not do cremation it is important to them to bury the remains.

IMO he found ways to go against everything she and her family believed and leave them little to nothing to get comfort from knowing she is at peace. I also think he chose Albany Avenue for what was left so that part of her humanly remains (blood) would be in a place he felt was way below him.

Even before AW2 came out I was wondering if there was any connection to the Metro North train stop on Talmadge Hill.

Ahhh, Talmadge Hill Station! I stopped reminiscing about New Canaan on-thread when we figured out what likely (perhaps possibly maybe) happened to Jennifer, but when you say Talmadge Hill this is my mental image:

When we took our Daddy to the train, my sister & I each were given a quarter. Inside the station, the quarters go in the little box, then Daddy picks up the newspaper from the bigger box. Mom waits in the car.

Reminiscing a little while we wait for AW3 or court activity.

JMHO YMMV

OMG! Such a great picture! Let me find the current station (not really a station...its just a platform with a weather covered area) so you can see it now. I might have posted these before when we were talking about how to get from Lapham Rd to Talmadge Hill and beyond.

@Laughing, here is a recent pic of Talmadge Hill Station (I prefer your station BTW). Parking is an issue at the station (typical issue in FC) and there are 4 lots that are stacked up a quite steep hill which makes it tricky to maneuver in the wet and snow.

Talmadge Hill Track - in foreground the lower lot and upper lots (2) off in the distance, another lot across tracks to the right and Merritt Parkway (N and S bound) exit about 3 min away by car and down the hill. This picture doesn't do justice to the hill and the bulk of the hill happens before this picture location, but the portion heading up towards Lapham Rd is steep in parts and curvy as well.

Lapham Rd and Waveny Park is probably 5 min car ride - just go up the road shown until you get to Lapham Rd and then take a left.

Here is map from Merritt to Talmadge Hill Station to Lapham Rd (near main entrance to Waveny Park - further down road from where the Suburban was found).

I'm glad you found the info about the security cameras. I keep looking for them on the cars and so far have just seen a handful. Stamford Station is well covered by security cameras on the tracks, probably because its an Amtrak Station as well as Metro North Station.

You see, those early statements by NP about how much FD loves her trouble me. I don’t know what it is, but there is something weird, and creepy and unnecessary about those statements-and it means something important to her. He shouldn’t have had to say it publicly, and yet he did so, several times. Was it for MT, or what?
Yes, interesting to contrast with the other NP case of star-crossed lovers: Kyle Navin and girlfriend. 55 years and 8 years respectively. Atty Riccio and NP together with LE worked the Navin case in a psychologically astute manner: IMO Navin believes in girlfriend's loyalty to this day. No deal was ever announced I believe although girlfriend pleaded guilty first and was to be sentenced after Navin's trial but with stipulation girlfriend would not be testifying against Navin repeated in every media account. IMO, Navin finally pleaded guilty on the eve of trial, after being labelled "defiant", IMO because he wanted to take some of the weight off girlfriend who had been languishing in prison the whole time, keeping quiet. Bodies eventually found without girlfriend's help. No declarations of undying love through the media. Contrast with FD and MT. Perhaps there really is a cultural difference, like blowing air kisses at your bail hearing. Pockets of Fairfield County can have a stiff upper lip about that stuff. FD maybe knows a little bit about MT, all knives out on Insta while secretly watching telenovela romanza in a snuggie at night. Maybe why the benefactor comes from a macho culture, IMO. Money and power automatically go to male heirs. Father is feared and respected. The concept of trust fund would be hard to explain. Breaking legs to collect on a debt, would not. MOO.

Here’s a CT “no body” murder case with some recent activity, coincidentally featuring our favorite defense attorney NP.
State Supreme Court decision will keep convicted killer Leniart behind bars

A “close call” but ruled in favor of corroborating evidence of death without a body: this has some echoes to what Norm has been arguing for FD tampering charges without a murder charge.
Take away: body not needed if sufficient corroborating evidence, but NP will appeal, appeal, appeal and judges need to be very vigilant on their decisions when there is no body.
Connection to Dulos case duly noted in article, excerpts below.

On the issue of corpus delecti, the justices wrote in the majority opinion that there was sufficient corroborating evidence, independent of confessions, of the victim's death and of the credibility of those confessions for the jury to have found the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Leniart decisions were published as state police are attempting to solve the suspected homicide of Jennifer Farber Dulos, a mother of five who disappeared from her New Canaan home on May 24. Her body has not been found despite extensive searches in several towns, but troopers are attempting to build a case against her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos. He is represented by Norman A. Pattis, the same attorney who had battled on behalf of Leniart at his trial in 2010.

It looks like they’ve installed cameras on much of the main line stations all the Darien, Westport and Norwalk stations, but probably not yet on the branch lines, many of which are as you say just platforms more or less.

Great article! Thanks for posting it here.

So, perhaps that is why we are seeing a slow and cautious Judge Blawie and a very focused and non confrontational State Atty Colangelo as they don't want to have the appeal issues of the other case you mentioned. I don't see how it can be avoided as its the game that 'one trick pony' Atty. P. (who doesn't have a case IMO) seems to play. What baffles me with the Atty. P. appeals game is that they are mostly done to assist 'monsters' such as Leniart where who he was as a criminal was quite well established. Atty. P. isn't plying his appeals game to assist people in need or the innocent IMO. I wonder why Atty. P. can't find some poorly or under represented individuals that could use some legal assistance?

But Atty. P. is already off and running on the appeals train with the gag order so my guess is that is the way the rest of this trial will sadly go. Not surprising given what we have already seen.

I do wonder if Bowman could be playing some kind of appeal game setup in Civil Court regarding the MT testimony in deposition? Kind of wacky but he just might be that desperate given lack of available options. I also just wonder how deep in the legal muck MT really is and I do think she is in deep. MOO
