I wonder if HF was concerned about 'many things' in his SIL's business AND marriage so
he may have hired a PI to tail Fd and learned all about his extra marital escapades. Because
FIL controlled the money trail while he was alive, he threatened Fd with buck up and clean up your act or the money trail stops for Fore and therefore Fd. Fd was cornered and the only wampum he had to negotiate with were the kids so he did.
Maybe FIL did not discuss this w/ his daughter as he knew she was already insecure about the
marriage and overwrought with childcare, etc.
He wanted to protect his daughter and hopefully co-erce Fd into being a responsible
husband and father.

Agree. With the limited info we have about HF your theory here IMO makes total sense. HF was IMO street wise and spent a lifetime making judgments in business about people. It would make all the sense in the world to me that HF might try to solve his issues with FD directly and not involve JFd as he was no doubt quite concerned about her given her responsibilities with 5 small children.

I do wonder whether 2010 was 'pivotal' for FD because what might have happened is that HF ripped the mask off of FD, called him on his behaviour with JFd and his children and perhaps even asked for the loans to be repaid immediately too!

Unfortunately HF isn't here to corroborate any of these theories but based on what we see FD doing in terms of saying that the long history of loans from HF all the sudden became gifts, very much leads me to believe that HF asked for the money back long ago and perhaps even said no money would be forthcoming UNLESS FD cleaned up his act with the affairs and his treatment of JFd.

These court appearances are such BS-why was it so short this time? In fact, what was the purpose of this hearing in the first place? Everybody knows that NOTHING is taking place; just racking up the coins for the lawyers. Isn’t there any way to find out if the taxpayers of the state of CT are footing the bill?

My guess on the 'flip' issue is that State has been moving along assuming no MT flip. My other strong suspicion is that the MT involvement is much greater than that we have seen in other cases where GF/Mistresses get a plea deal and so there is no reason to extend the deal too.

The fact that these people collectively don't understand the importance of public perception and maintenance of decorum really does make me wish that legally people could be charged with simple basic stupidity! Sadly, the legal system isn't quite there yet!

For what its worth I find it absolutely offensive that ANY COURT TIME was spent to provide MT with the ability to go to the airport when other options were available. Total waste of Courts time IMO and gives no weight to the actual charges that EXIST TODAY against MT which are serious.

I always try to reframe situations to see if it helps me learn or understand something new so I started thinking about FD and 2010. Maybe nothing external occurred in 2010 that set things on the wrong path with FD; instead, maybe that’s just when he decided he was bored or whatever and began affairs and then continued on feeling justified to himself, OMG. To him, whatever he did would be justifiable, as he’d blame JD for whatever. I bet MT is not the first mistress and I bet his graft accelerated in this time. MOO.

Obvious, I know. The significance of this realization to me is that FD’s outrageous behaviors and the stealth involved would have been known only to the lawyers and JD’s family and friends if not for her disappearance and presumed death. So it would have been just JD and family to try to deal with all of this alone (with lawyers, etc. but no WS sleuthing to help, etc.). ***In NO WAY am I saying it is “good” how it occurred; my point is that who knows how many other people are going through such horrible divorce and custody cases similar to this and all alone.
