Really love this judge. He is giving JS a chance but also seeing right through him. Tbf, JS is doing his job - raising doubt and trying to poke any and every hole through the state's case. He's just not doing a good job of seeming competent at it so far and is reaching for straws. This isn't even the part of the trial he should take large issue with.

Next up, Detective Reilly (sp), retired Connecticut State Police.

JS seems hellbent on disrupting the State's flow.

Brief recess until 315. Court needs to review photos the state is attempting to enter into evidence because JS is objecting... because of a dot on a marking device.

JS is trying my patience mightily. Sure hope the prosecutor interrups him every 5 seconds when it is his turn.

Stand Up. Sit Down. Stand Up. Sit Down. Those poor jurors.

Why would a crime scene tech use an evidence ruler with a stain of some kind already on it? Also, it is annoying to hear Jennifer's blood being described as a stain on the concrete. But maybe I'm a bit touchy today.

JS is very purposely and deliberately halting, stopping, and disrupting the states CIS by this continued nonsense. Either the judge puts a stop to it now, or we are in for a very long drawn out and painful trial. I imagine none of JS's behavior is new for the judge, however the jury has got to be very disgruntled. He's not scoring any points with them, I am afraid

[Sidebar of my own: I'm trying to reconcile MT as she appears beside counsel and MT both as charged and as self-represented on social media and in interrogation as recorded in the AA. I can't do it. Beside the point, she is not unattractive. She presents well dressed, tailored. She is bilingual. She's a mother. She's been married. She's been in relationships. She apparently did legitimate business for FD as well as maybe running one of her own....

Why wasn't it enough for her to live her life on her own merits? Ski, work with horses, date, marry, whatever. Why couldn't she build a life of her own and let JFd alone, to have hers? She just couldn't leave things well enough alone. There were no other men in the world, had to have FD. No other children, she had to have Jennifer's. No other homes, she had to have Jennifer's. No other Legoes...

And now, to have no remorse for what's been taken from this world, it's vile. End of rant. For now.]

Court back early sans jury.

I want to have lunch with the Morgan Freeman judge. He is altogether unflappable.

JS is getting really whiny. And my eyelids are trying really hard to meet each other in the middle.

JS is REALLY against this luminol evidence being admissible. It makes me wonder exactly how much glow we're about to see.

WHY in God's name would detectives utilize as a measuring device for bloodstains a printed ruler that has "red" spots on it? And if such spots are on it - perhaps some defect in the paper or printing, why would detectives not either discard those particular measuring devices OR document the defect. Surely they realize every photograph - including both the printed measuring device as well as the evidence they are measuring - will be used in Court? And that a red mark or stain would raise questions?

Judge rules photos can be introduced, asks the jury to be brought in without skipping a beat, then looks straight at JS as if to signal this issue is closed. I hope his patience is wearing as thin as ours and there are fewer interruptions, especially since the judge explicitly stated he doesn't want the jury to have to go in and out all afternoon.

MT was standing there bouncing in place when the jury was being brought back in.

My focus has been going in and out.

This feels like a long road trip where the car starts and stops every 4 inches...

Are we ever going to get there?

Anxious to get into the thick of the State's case.

To join you in this sidebar - Our forties is a tough decade for most women but I think she looks like a different woman than back in her fancy free days newly frolicking with FD. Instant accelerated aging from the day she was first arrested. Perhaps remorse, or maybe just fear, has taken at least a little toll.

I think she intended to have a lifetime of great sex with the now dead man, FD. It is a well known reason to kill, even if we can't fully understand it. GSR

All I keep thinking is that if JS is being this nit picky about this evidence which does not implicate his client, I can't even imagine what is going to happen when that evidence which does implicate her comes in. Geez.

  • #578
JS makes same objection to *another* photo because of a mark on a measuring device, judge immediately overrules.

My thoughts exactly! Unless his plan is to try and downplay the brutality of the murder itself, this is technically evidence that doesn't involve MT directly. Sit down and work on your cross instead of interrupting constantly.

Am I missing something? I don't think I've ever seen a trial where the Defense is doing all the talking during the State's presentation.

Why weren't all these photos agreed on outside of the jury's presence and then entered without objection, like I think in used to? This is especially tedious.
