Shutting down the live feed won't impact jury integrity IMO. Shutting the jury off from media will.

Anxious to hear how the Judge handles this.

I like the sequester too but that does not take away the reality show aspect of it so I would vote to do both just imo

Agree. Light needs to be on this trial. If what we have seen so far doesn’t prove this to be the case I don’t know what would!

confirming 4 alts after the dismissal

"The dismissal leaves four alternate jurors. Schoenhorn said that since the trial has started, no other jurors can be selected. "
So angry as this effectively turns this into a chess game with what appears to be an unreliable jury and runaway train courtroom imo. This is precisely the scenario TP wants with the jurors so if the mistrial is called it’s better to happen now as the bulk of the evidence is yet to come imo.

Man, if I were on a jury that was ordered to sequester because of some yahoo that was too immature to comply with the rules he'd/she'd been given, I'd be PO'd.

And less forgiving of JAS's blather and delay tactics that would only serve to keep me sequestered from my life longer.

Back on the record

Happy Friday, starting out messy right away... Juror discussed case all over social media, said it's like Gone Girl. o_O
Oh no…

Judge addressing the note, authored by a juror.

Judge reading into the record, unsigned, undated

One of the jurors [identified] discussed the case and was all over social media, it's like Gone Girl all over it....

[Admittedly I did not scribe it well.]

Judge is going to bring in the juror who wrote the note. Then the juror. Then all of the other jurors individually. To determine whether they can remain impartial, etc.

Judge is closing the courtroom to audio and video.

Nothing surprises me in this trial

This may possibly take all day.

Lord. What a long, drawn-out process this will be. Each juror before the Judge, Defense and Prosecution allowed to question as well. And IMO no guarantee that this will stem the tide.

Now we have a trial within a trial. A closed one at that. Of indeterminate length.

Even for jurors who had nothing to do with this breach, including not having heard or been made aware of, how ANGRY will they be at this man-made delay, extending their jury commitment indefinitely?

Can a Judge impose sanctions for jury misconduct? The whole system is designed toward justice, impartial jury of one's peers. So there's justice but there's also a price tag. How much is spent for trial? How much is wasted by mistrial?

Seems to me we're past hand slapping.

Oh, I think that's conservative. 10 jurors. JS isn't leaving the building.

One juror could take him all day.

Contempt charges?

Gone Girl.

Now the defense knows what angle to exploit.

As if.

JFd didn't cut her own bloody shirt off, pass it to FD to dispose of.

This is unbelievable.

I would guess by the actions they are on the younger side. Only an opinion.
@Cloudydiamond
Agree they appear on the younger side. They may have grown up with Reality Shows. Hence my comment
The two jurors who have not followed instructions so far have inserted themselves into the case and become part of the drama - just like a reality show.
Also if there are no consequences to their behavior - they are likely to think why not ?
Responsibility, Integrity - all those old time values, are generally not modeled on reality shows. And we see alot of bad behavior in courts certainly daily now with no apparent consequences online in the news etc.
Its not the same world with the same common values it was a decade ago even
IMO

I'd assign the juror latrine duty. Clean the restrooms used by the remaining jurors (when they are not present) until deliberation is finished and a verdict delivered. If they are sequestered, then that latrine duty extends to the restrooms at the hotel where they are sequestered (and when they are not present).

So right !!!
Can you imagine being a juror who wanted no part in this whole fiasco, to be subjected to questioning from JS ? My God, how horrific.

I was imagining the cross exam like questions he would give.
Torture.
