I don't want to distract, but I do want to thank all of our furry friends whose courage, snouts and smarts are making this search possible. Without them, despite all our technology, this couldn't be done.
Totally agree. It was incredible to watch all the teams at work. The local cable station did a segment with one of the handlers and it was very interesting to learn more about the training the teams go through.

Sadly, I wonder if her father hadn't passed away, he probably
would not have allowed the financial downfall to get this far.
Her father was a bright, financially savvy guy. He knew how to
make money and how to invest it to make more money.
FD only knew how to take advantage of someone else's money
and it doesn't appear he was very successful at multiplying
that borrowed nest egg. for all his Ivy League education, it
didn't seem to help him much in the real world.

Once her father passed, and no more easy money for FD,
he decided to default on his current obligations to her family.
And it just went downhill from there. His personal image was
shot, he needed other women to boost his shattered ego.
JD was probably nagging him to pay back her family and he went
on the downward spiral to strike back and get revenge to those
he believed wronged him.
He totally lost control and the rest is history.
The grandmother, Gloria, will hopefully set up a foundation for abused women. :(

I don't know. I'm going to need to see the diploma from Columbia, lol. It's hard to believe that someone with an MBA would be this unable to make his own way in the world. I know it happens, but I'm just not completely convinced that this guy's credentials are legit.
Interesting points. But if you look at his bio which was described I think in one of the early articles, he had been working a more 'corporate' job when they lived in NYC. But what is so interesting is that if he gained access to JD money/trust fund early in their relationship it might have made it easy to simply hop off the corporate rat race and set himself up to 'dabble' in real estate.

What also seems interesting is that he didn't appear involved with child care issues and took a very traditional role in my opinion that seems reminisant of another era. How JD lived with this role definition in her relationship is something that I wish we knew more about from her friends.

I really wonder if she knew what he was all about in college and was she the victim of the classic relationship 'bait and switch' where he was one thing in college and then they get married and BOOM things change? By all accounts JD enjoyed writing and liked NYC so to move to a place like Farmington which isn't close to NYC really, lose/end her career and then have 5 children in rapid succession there is little doubt in my mind why her blog from 2011/2 reads the way it does. Having 5 children and being without a family support network close by and on her own she must have been overwhelmed and highly depressed. Combine these issues with attempting to deal with and manage what seems to be a classic narcissist personality and frankly I'm not sure how she lasted 12 years in the 'relationship'. MOO.

From Jennifer Farber Dulos Missing: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com :

Jennifer Dulos’ mother, Gloria Farber, has been embroiled in a legal dispute with her son-in-law, Fotis Dulos, since shortly after her husband’s death. Gloria Farber is the executor of Hilliard Farber’s estate. According to a complaint filed in Connecticut court in January 2018, Farber is seeking $500,000 that her now-deceased husband gave to Fotis and Jennifer Dulos in 2012. Gloria Farber says they promised to pay him back with interest, but failed to do so by June 2017.

Fotis Dulos filed a response arguing that any money given to him by Hilliard Farber was a gift, not a loan.

Later in 2018, attorneys for Gloria Farber filed a revised complaint stating that Fotis Dulos had borrowed $2.3 million from a bank to buy his home in Farmington. According to court documents, Fotis Dulos agreed to make payments on the loan and Jennifer’s parents put up security. Gloria Farber’s attorneys say Fotis Dulos has defaulted and failed to make payments on the loan, leading the bank to charge Gloria Farber’s collateral with the payments. A trial management conference is set in that case for November 2019.

There is a tax limit of $12000 for a "gift".

Stupid stupid man to retroactively claim it was a gift. He then owes taxes on the $488,000 that exceeds the amount allowed as a gift.

I wonder if the IRS might be interested in this.

Carmen Chau Fox 61 along w/ her photographer went to FD's home on thurs. and knocked on door, no one answered but FD
called 911 and reported them. LE showed up and requested they
not trespass again.
She also reported Ct. State Police had two cars at his home Friday
for several hours awaiting FD's arrival.
So the evidence was coming together on Friday.
Kudos to Carmen Chau for getting the details out.
Totally agree. She has been a pitbull and its so fantastic to see some solid reporting as so often on missing cases the approach by media is passive. Passive reporting does zero to help missing victims IMO so I'm glad some reporters are stepping up to the plate and working around the clock on this fast moving story! Kudos Carmen Chau!

You are correct. I feel like I've been on the soap box quite a bit today but I just want to put it out there that if folks think there are issues with family law legal sector in CT then prepare to lose your minds with an honest assessment of the probate process in CT.

The probate process probably most closely resembles the classic gravy train or rather MONEY TRAIN for the limited people involved in the process that can ever be imagined. I would have to research it more but my recollection is that there have been zero or virtually zero changes to the probate process in CT in over 100 years. The power of probate judges is extreme in my experience in CT and its shocking to come from another state and see how things are 'handled' in CT. Again I wish the press would take up this topic as if more people knew how the process worked and how much it costs then the few senior citizens left in the state (overstatement to make a point, sorry!) that haven't already left the state would pack up and leave pronto.
Again.... BRAVO!
You seem to have a lot of knowledge how the CT court systems work and hopefully you’re a strong advocate for abused women... women that have been physically, mentally and emotionally abused. Not just abused by a SO, but by the CT court system as well. Thank you!

Here's my hunch at the moment. I think he expected to be the person called when Jennifer went missing that Friday evening. When he got that call, I think he intended to collect the kids, totally bi-passing the grandmother. That's my guess and speculation what his plan was.

If the kids do have Greek passports, he could've left with them (or sent them with girlfriend) out of the country. I have no idea if he was ever able to get foreign passports for the kids, but once they had them, he could take them anywhere in the world.

I don't think he expected the nanny to take the kids to grandma's home and I don't think he expected the friends to call 911. Hooray for the nanny and for friends!

jmo
The court put the kibosh on the greek passports for the children process (this discussion was in the document where JD talks about how STBX scheduled a trip for all the children to go to Greece and purchased tickets for them all to go except he didn't invite/include JD.) This was a fairly shocking portion of testimony IMO, especially since her money most likely paid for the trip. It was unclear whether the trip with the children and STBX ever took place but I will keep reading!

JD's friends pushing to make the missing report on the day it looks like JD disappeared could make all the difference in this case IMO. We've seen so many cases where delays in reporting the missing person make it virtually impossible for the police to ever recover the trail. The nanny also was a major hero in this case as she seemed aware enough of the situation that she took the children to the grandmother and not the STBX.

Agree. I have a friend exactly like her. Husband is abusive, of similar ethnicity / culture to Dulos, and she is gorgeous, accomplished and smart. I don't really get it.

Yes, it seems he found it easier to take her money than work for his own. imo

Geez, that is an excellent point about the car keys. Wonder if that is what LE in Hartford were looking for in the sewer.
Do car keys ever have a finder beacon on them?

My DH uses what he calls a “tile” on his key ring (and also in his wallet) to track his stuff. You can buy it on Amazon.
So I expect she could have added something like that to her key ring so she could find her car keys.

Yes, thanks. I see that FD graduated Brown in '89 w/ degrees in Economics and Applied Mathematics. She graduated in '90.
they didn't marry til 2004 so she was 36, he was 37.
So they knew each other since college for over 14 yrs before marrying. She had a career as a writer before marriage and he
was a management consultant at a couple financial companies.
She had 5 babies in 5 years starting 2 yrs. after marriage.
Wow, she was really strapped time wise.

We will see if these assuptions about STBX prove to be correct. But what I always find fascinating is that when the masks are taken off of bullies (we saw this in the Watts case) that many of them simply crumble and fall apart. This is a bit off topic (sorry in advance) but I am also always fascinated how so many of these characters have GFs in in the wings (again we saw this in the Watts case). Reading the court documents about how STBX actually started a discussion with JD about moving his mistress and her daughter into their family home is something that hits a whole new level of delusional behavior in my mind. I kept reading the same paragraph in the documents over and over and I still found it stunning. WHO IS THE STBX person? I realize there are two sides to every story but after I read about the mistress moving in story I almost felt like there wasn't much more to know as it said so much about him and all SO MUCH about the mistress. This happened in a family with five children under the age of 10 at that point. I truly wonder if STBX has the capacity to connect or care about the children or anyone else for that matter. I also wonder if the court sought to obtain a psych exam of STBX as part of the proceedings and if this document is one of the sealed ones amongst the 500? Its a mind twister to me to understand having 5 children under 10 and being embroiled with a character like STBX.

I thought he had an MBA. To my knowledge this is only offered through the Business School at Columbia. There are certificate programs in the School of Professional Studies but not an MBA so far as I know. MBA at Columbia is a full time program except the Executive Program which is combo part and full time over the course of the degree.

All really good points. Perhaps she was attracted to him because he wasn't your typical preppy boy from some New England prep school? He didn't fit the mold. He was handsome, rugged, strong kinda can do guy. Strong and protective and athletic. Then he went on to Columbia, so he was no dummy. He had the credentials. She had five children with him so she must have been smitten for a time. Youngest is six? She left 2 years ago? Maybe it dawned on her after the last baby came? 2013 baby? When did she stop blogging?
Can't wait for her friends to eventually speak.
I have no doubt FD was an old school Daddy.
MOO.
