Jennifer Dulos disappearance: Norwalk businessman distributes flyers to help spread word

July 13, 2019

NEW CANAAN — A Norwalk business owner has begun distributing flyers about the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos, working in hopes of aiding her family.

Sky Mercede, owner of the Forever Sweet Bakery on Main Avenue in Norwalk, said he began printing and sharing flyers last Saturday. So far, they’ve been placed in a number of businesses, including his own. Soon, an additional 1,000 will be distributed with pizzas from Pinocchio’s of New Canaan and Dave’s Planet Pizza of Norwalk.

[...]

“I would want someone to do that for me and my family if something like that happened for me,” Mercede said. “I would want someone to help.”

He hopes, through his efforts, he can help keep Dulos’ disappearance fresh in the mind of the public and spur someone with knowledge of the situation to come forward.

“All I’m trying to do is keep the story going,” Mercede said. “Maybe someone would come forward.”

Fotis Dulos, estranged husband of missing New Canaan mother Jennifer Farber Dulos, attempted to get judge removed from his contentious divorce case

July 14, 2019

Days before Fotis Dulos prepared for another custody ruling from a judge he’d accused of being biased against him, he dropped a bombshell into the middle of his already bitter pending divorce from his estranged wife Jennifer Farber Dulos. He wanted the judge thrown off the case, claiming a phone call he had with her husband had created a conflict of interest.

Months earlier, as Dulos searched for an attorney to represent him in the divorce battle, he called Blank Rome, a high-end New York City law firm, on Jan. 16 and talked to Norman Heller about hiring him for representation. During the “consultation,” Dulos said they talked about the case pending in Stamford court. Norman Heller told Dulos he would need a retainer of $25,000 before he would agree to take the case.

[...]

In his March 13 motion to get Judge Donna Heller thrown off his divorce case, Dulos claimed he had no idea the attorney he was discussing fees with was the husband of the judge overseeing his contentious divorce. But he argued, “There’s a reasonable appearance of impropriety,” so Heller should be disqualified.

[...]

Midler in court papers said Dulos was preparing an “escape hatch” with his motion to get Judge Heller tossed from the case if her decision on visitation rights wasn’t to his liking and accused Dulos of trying to manipulate the judicial process. Midler said it was beyond comprehension that Dulos didn’t know what everyone in the courthouse knew — that Judge Heller’s husband was a New York attorney who handled family law.

Heller didn’t recuse herself from the Dulos’ divorce case. And a week after Dulos’ push to get her off the case, Heller issued new visitation orders drastically increasing Dulos’ time with his five children. While she insisted that his visits with the children be supervised, the judge ordered him to get the children every other weekend starting in late March.

'There's An Explanation’ for Bags Containing Missing Conn. Mom’s Blood, Husband's Lawyer Says

July 11, 2019

Fotis Dulos' lawyer says he can explain why his client allegedly dumped bags in Hartford containing Jennifer Dulos' blood the night she vanished

[...]

Fotis Dulos’ attorney, Norm Pattis, says there is a reason for that.

“There is an explanation, but we’re not going to give it,” attorney Norm Pattis said Wednesday afternoon, the Stamford Advocate reports. “I think when we do it, it will appear a lot less troubling.”

[...]

Pattis said he is waiting for the state’s attorney to give him police reports, diagrams and photos from the investigation as part of the discovery process, which should arrive “any day now.”

In the meantime, he told the show he’s relying on “sources close to the investigation” that have allowed him “to monitor” what they’ve been doing.

Pattis said no when asked if he had come upon new evidence that would make him concerned for his client. He said he wants more information about the struggle in the garage on the day Jennifer vanished.

“Obviously, it’s a matter of grave concern to us,” he said on the morning show. “But I have not yet heard that they have a smoking gun, so to speak.”

Police have not yet been able to prove — via video, at least — that Fotis left his house in Farmington, 70 miles north, the morning of May 24 – or that he went to Jennifer’s house that day, he said.

New court documents reveal more about the search for Jennifer Dulos

STAMFORD — Jennifer Dulos’s family filed a motion for default after her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, and his company, the Fore Group, Inc., failed to appear at a deposition last Wednesday.

The notice of that deposition was given to his attorney almost two weeks before the scheduled date, according to court documents, and this is the second time he and his company have failed to appear at a deposition related to the case, which involves the estate of Jennifer’s late father, Hilliard Farber.

Hearing July 18 - MT

@GeorgeColli
Troconis hearing lasts about one minute. Continued to August 19. Only thing that come out of it is that Michelle Troconis only spent one day out of CT in New York. Her GPS wasn’t working so she is staying in CT now.

Interesting...an associate of Pattis was in the courtroom...

White also agreed to another request in the motion that Dulos be barred from contacting Troconis in any way, including through a third-party. The request by Bowman followed a motion by Dulos’ attorney, Norm Pattis, requesting that the pair be allowed to see one another.

“We have learned that Ms. Troconis believes in his innocence, and loves him still. We see no reason why the two of them should not be free to live as they see fit,“ Pattis wrote in the motion.

An associate of Pattis’ was in the courtroom Thursday but did not comment.

JFD,a mother of five, was reported missing two months ago to New Canaan police amid a bitter divorce with her estranged husband, FD. As police quietly continue their investigation, officials and court documents have shed some light on the disappearance, but questions remain.

Police officials have offered no update this week on the status of the case, other than to say a number of investigators remain dedicated to finding JFD.

Criminal cases continue against FD and his girlfriend, MT, but it is unclear if more serious charges in the disappearance will be filed, or if they will ever find the New Canaan mother. JFD moved out of the Farmington home she shared with FD in 2017.

Custody of the children remains in the balance, but it is up to a family court judge in Stamford if FD can remain in the picture, or if they will stay with JFDs’ mother, GF.

Jennifer Farber Dulos has been missing for two months. Here’s what we know, and what we don’t, about the search for the mother of five.

Jennifer Dulos case: Norm Pattis withdraws as divorce attorney, grandmother seeks sole custody

STAMFORD — It appears Fotis Dulos’ divorce strategy is changing, while his mother-in-law is seeking to solidify herself as the primary caregiver for his five children.

Norm Pattis filed a motion Tuesday to withdraw as Fotis Dulos’ divorce attorney, but will continue to represent him in the criminal proceedings where he is charged with tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution in his estranged wife’s disappearance.

Pattis said in his court filing that Fotis Dulos and co-counsel Richard Rochlin do not object to him withdrawing from the divorce case.

Pattis’ request comes one day after he and Rochlin withdrew their motion to suspend the divorce case. They had argued last month that the proceedings should be halted because Jennifer Dulos is not able to participate.

Warrant: Man under order to avoid contact with estranged wife arrested after Fotis Dulos reaches out to her
A lawyer from South Windsor who is in the midst of a contentious divorce and under court order not to contact his estranged wife was arrested after FD worked to facilitate a meeting, purportedly to patch things up, according to an arrest warrant.

The woman later told state police she believed that her husband, Kent Mawhinney, wanted her dead and that FD — with whom the husband had a professional relationship — was working on behalf of her husband “to get rid of her," the warrant says.
