Jennifer Dulos disappearance: Troconis in court, Fotis to discuss finances this week

August 18, 2019

STAMFORD — As the search for Jennifer Dulos nears three months, her estranged husband will be questioned this week about his financial affairs and his girlfriend will be back in court on pending criminal charges related to the disappearance.

[...]

Troconis is scheduled to return Monday to state Superior Court in Stamford for what is expected to be a brief hearing since there are no motions pending.
Her attorney, Andrew Bowman, did not return a message seeking comment.

When Fotis Dulos made his last appearance on Aug. 9, State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo revealed Troconis has not taken a polygraph exam, refuting defense attorney Norm Pattis’ claim that she had passed a lie detector test.

Pattis said the prosecution turned over video to him that showed Troconis grocery shopping in Farmington the morning Jennifer Dulos disappeared.

The pre-trial proceedings are playing out against the backdrop of the couple’s contentious divorce filed in Stamford family court in 2017 and three lawsuits in Hartford civil court against Fotis Dulos filed in 2018 by his mother-in-law, Gloria Farber.

Fotis Dulos is scheduled to provide a deposition in the lawsuits Tuesday at the West Hartford office of Farber’s attorney Richard Weinstein. Farber claims in the lawsuits that Fotis Dulos failed to repay her family $2.5 million in loans to his high-end real estate company, Fore Group.

The lawsuits have been just as contentious as the couple’s two-year divorce, with attorneys on both sides filing numerous motions. Fotis Dulos was slated to give the deposition on July 10, but did not show up, prompting Weinstein to file a motion for default — one of several he’s filed in the cases.

Jennifer Dulos case: Fotis wants oldest sons to have their own lawyer

STAMFORD — Jennifer Dulos’ estranged husband says their two oldest sons should be represented by their own attorney in custody matters.

In a motion filed late Wednesday, attorney Rich Rochlin, representing Fotis Dulos in his divorce, is asking the court to appoint an attorney for his client's two oldest children, 13-year-old twin boys.

Fotis Dulos has not seen his children since May 22 — two days before his estranged wife vanished — so he has not been able to sway their minds about where they would like to stay, Rochlin said.

The children have been staying with their grandmother, Gloria Farber, since the May 24 disappearance. Farber has been granted the right to intervene in the contentious two-year divorce and is seeking sole custody of the children, who are between 8 and 13. The 85-year-old Farber is also suing Fotis Dulos for $2.5 million in unpaid loans.

"The defendant believes that all five children have a custodial preference to share with the court that should be trusted," Rochlin said. "Regardless of the defendant's belief, (the two oldest children) both of sufficient age and maturity, may well have an informed and intelligent view on a variety of subjects — from custody to therapy to water skiing — that obviously have not been influenced by the defendant, with whom they have had no contact with since May 22, 2019."

Attorney for Jennifer Dulos’ mother questions Fotis’ finances

HARTFORD — The attorney representing Gloria Farber is questioning how her son-in-law, Fotis Dulos, could support his five children now in her care since he claims in testimony and court filings to have few assets and no future contracts, and the mortgage on his Farmington home is in default.

“We believe Mr. Dulos is less than forthright in regards to his business affairs,” said Attorney Richard Weinstein, who represents Farber in civil lawsuits against Fotis Dulos, outside a Hartford courtroom Monday morning. “I requested that we be allowed to perform a forensic examination of his business accounts, which he has declined.”
