GUILTY CT - Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, & 2 daughters killed in home invasion, 23 July 2007

  • #661
Quick note - I just read an article that says jK is still blaming Dr. Petit for not fighting harder for his family. That is remorse? Blame the victim?

  • #662
Of course he hates Dr Petit. Dr Petit represents everything JK would never ever be able to become. A beautiful family, a successful man, a stable loving home. He is trying to kill Petit as many times as he can, he wants to see Petit suffer and die.

IMO.

  • #663
JK has a child who is now just 2 years younger than his victim. JK traveled to Trinidad and held the hand of a young female burn victim. Does anyone recall any media as to how that child was burned? it would be something if she was doused with gasoline.

His daughter was clearly in grave danger, and I would think that some parents whose children came in contact with JK, given that he molested his sister IIRC prior to this trip, might want to ask a few questions if they spent time with him.

Josh has written poetry in jail-Josh has also written twisted letters and given interviews bragging about this crime. Josh did not react to his mentor because Josh doesnt give much thought to the needs and wants and feelings of other people.

It could have been this man's child who was raped and set afire. I wonder if he considers this?

  • #664
I admire all the witnesses including his family who have come forth and are trying to save his life, for his family they want him to live, no matter what crimes he has committed he is still there son and brother and unconditional love means just that

for any friends who come forth and ask for him to be spared they should not be castigated, I oppose the DP for anybody no matter what crimes they commit, for me I would be no better than the criminals who murder if I wished another human being death,

  • #665
you are right joe jones. None of them need me being judgemental towards them and their love for him.

  • #666
I certainly understand and respect the parents of a defendant testifying and pleading for his life. As you say, unconditional love of a parent for a child no matter what the circumstances is understandible and admirable. And I certainly dont think any witness should be threatened or castigated simply for testifing to facts. However, I do believe the death penalty is appropriate in this case. It is appropriate punishment, the only appropriate punishment.

WARNING: We don't discuss innocent family members. Please do not post rumors and negative comments about the family of the perps in this case.

his pastor from when he was a teen is testifying, he made a pipe bomb and said he saw a figure with glowing eyes, they all prayed for him, seems some within his church felt at the time he was being controlled or taken over by the devil

seems he was also comitting other crimes at the time, and the church called the police on him

What I object to are statements such as that from his sister where she claims he is incapable of hurting or killing anyone, which in light of the facts and her own brother's admissions are patently false. Such proclamations add insult to injury.

If you're going to have a death penalty at all, then JK is the poster boy, IMO.

He had no contact with #Komis for about 10 years before the murders. He cannot say he's the same person from 1995-1998 that he was in 2007.

I sure don't see much in this testimony today so far that would really help JK. You never know what the jury is thinking of course, but there doesnt seem to be much of substance here. I guess the strategy may be to just have as many people as possible talk ABOUT JK in order to humanize him.

You know I'm not sure that the testimony about how all of JK's previous break ins and burglaries were non-violent and that many of the homeowners didn't even know they had been broken into is such good testimony for JK. I think it just proves again how since the violence was started by JK he went into that house KNOWING he planned on killing them all because his primary goal was not to steal but to rape Michaela. If what was testified is true then it was possible for JK and Hayes to enter that house and slip back out without killing anyone. But that's not what JK had in mind. Especially knowing he was viewing up to 900 adult websites a week before the murders. IMO, JK had planned to kill the whole family the moment he followed Mrs. Petit and Michaela home during the day but only after he first got a chance to rape Michaela.

Yes, that seems to be what they're doing. Trying to flash as many cute photos of JK as a baby, as a child, as a young teen. Hoping that the jury won't vote for death if they get to know him a little. Not that the testimony is really demonstrating any redeeming qualities. I guess it depends on how much weight you put on being good with electrical things.

For every seemingly nice thing JK did it was also coupled with another not so nice thing. A perfect example is how he comforted a young teen burn victim. But then when you go back to the facts in this case and how he poured gasoline on two living victims and fully intended to burn them alive you shake your head. He witnessed first hand what a burn can do to the human body. Yet still chose to dispose of his victims in what is arguably the most atrocious way to die.

I'm generally on the fence about the DP. I think in this case it's appropriate. Part of my thought process is not just the horrific nature of the murders but something a little more. It's been shown in testimony that JK does well when being completely watched but the minute that supervision lessens even a little JK goes back into full criminal mode. My concern is that if while in prison (even for life) he gets some sort of job where he isn't watched 24/7 he will attempt an escape and could very easily kill again. And I'm not willing to put the prison staff and any other inmates (even if they too have committed horrible crimes) in that kind of danger. I think JK is simply a danger to those around him unless he's constantly watched at all times. JK has also demonstrated a keen intellect as well as being very sneaky (and by more than one person). I'm afraid that he will never stop scheming or manipulating. It's very unlikely that if JK receives the DP that he will ever be executed. But I do like the fact that death row inmates are watched constantly and that would certainly put my mind at ease.

I also think JK's hatred of Dr. Petit is abnormal and extremely sinister and with JK's personality (if again not actively watched all the time) would resort to taunting Dr. Petit for years.

For all involved I think it best that JK be placed in a situation that he's literally and constantly watched 24/7. And I truly don't think JK holds any redeeming qualities at the present time. I only can see that he would do more harm to others if still alive. Although for practical reasons JK will never be executed. Much like it is here in California. It's basically just a symbolic gesture to indicate yes you're the worst of the worst and you aren't fit to even roam among even other criminals.

I think it is seething rage. He can't hide it and he has to explain it, so he states it is because Dr. Petit didn't do enough to save his family.

The real reason is that Dr. Petit didn't die himself. JK's loathing of Dr. Petit is in a ways self-directed. He is mad at himself that he didn't hit Dr. Petit harder or didn't go back to finish the job. Dr. Petit dies, his body is incinerated in the fire along with the other victims, and the two criminals are home free. They ditch the car, count their money, and the crime wave of breaking into houses continues unabated, potentially escalating because they "got away" with it.

That didn't happen. JK can't discuss his real anger - Dr. Petit's clinging to life - because it goes against what his alibi is: that he didn't start the fire and didn't mean for the girls to die, when it is the farthest from the truth.

Gret Post Envoydriver 61----Agree with u 100%....Dr Petit was also supposed to die. His escape was unforseen----so was the arrival of the police. JK was caught red-handed. I have leaned away from supporting the DP but feel that this case warrants the ultimate penalty!!!!!!!I pray that the jurors agree with me. I view these two perps as pure animals and never ever want them to see the light of day again. May their souls burn in H---!!!!:furious::furious::furious::furious::furious:
