sorry for the double post.

Simply ridiculous. Apparently Kent can just do whatever he wants and get away with it for the price of a wearing ankle monitor.

Here are 10 cases to watch in 2025:

When will Kent Mawhinney trial start in Jennifer Dulos case?

Although Michelle Troconis has been convicted and sentenced in the 2019 disappearance and death of Jennifer Dulos, court proceedings will likely continue for years.

[..]

Mawhinney has pleaded not guilty to a conspiracy to commit murder charge. He is taking his case to trial, which has yet to be scheduled.
He is accused of trying to provide an alibi for Fotis Dulos the morning of the disappearance.

Troconis is appealing her conviction as she serves her sentence in York Correctional Institution. She also was arrested three times during the case, including on charges that she tampered with evidence and hindered prosecution. A jury convicted her on all counts. State Superior Court Judge Kevin Randolph, who oversaw the trial, dismissed one of the tampering with evidence charges, calling it redundant.

Prosecutors, however, are appealing the dismissal, saying the judge erred when he dropped the charge.

The appeals from both sides remain pending.

6/5/25 Update: Disposition hearing on 6/13/25. [A disposition hearing in Connecticut typically refers to a legal proceeding that follows arraignment & occurs before or instead of a trial. Its main purpose is to determine how the case will be resolved, which could involve a plea agreement, dismissal of charges, or scheduling the case for trial].
6/13/25 Update: The State will not move forward with the conspiracy to commit murder case against Kent Mawhinney in the disappearance & death of Jennifer Dulos. Instead, Mawhinney today pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of interfering with an officer. The sentence is 11 months in prison, which Mawhinney has already served. Per State’s Attorney Paul Ferencek, despite the judge finding probable cause for the warrant in 2020 & a continued exhaustive investigation by the State’s Attorney’s Office, the state doesn’t have the evidence to prove a conspiracy to commit murder charge.
*Michelle C. Troconis (44/now 47) – Cases #021178T, #0167364T & #0148553T: Trial started on 1/11/24 & ended 2/29/24 with a verdict of guilty on all charges. Sentencing hearing on 5/31/24. Sentenced to 14 ½ years in prison & to 5 years probation. Status hearing re contempt charges on 6/18/25.
*Fotis Dulos (52) – Committed suicide on 1/28/20 & declared dead at 5:32pm on 1/30/20. 3/3/20: Charges dismissed. The case against Dulos will be officially dismissed in about a year, unless the state decides to reopen it. 1/17/22: After debt, no money left in Dulos estate for children. While Fotis Dulos’ estate has $395,687 in assets, it owes $548,280.75 in expenses, according to Farmington Probate Court records. Attorney Christopher Hug will be paid $189,525 for settling the estate & attorney Paul Knierim, who represented Hug, will receive $98,326, court documents show."

So, when was the interference with an officer? When he tried to flee the State? I'm so sorry for Jennifer's family. What a JOKE.

Vindicated? Hardly. Not enough evidence to convict is not the ssme as innocent.

Probably when he went to flee the state, as you said.

Kent Mawhinney walked out of court a free man Friday, having only pleaded guilty to interfering with an officer.

In court, the state dropped a conspiracy to commit murder charge for the presumed death and disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos. The state said that beyond a reasonable doubt, they just couldn’t get there.

“Mr. Mawhinney was Fotis Dulos’ lawyer and friend and he was present at Dulos’ home the evening preceding the murder, as well as the morning of the murder,” State’s Attorney Paul Ferencek said.

In his arrest warrant for the conspiracy to commit murder charges, it mentions two members of the Windsor Rod and Gun Club in East Granby were hunting on the land when they came across a large hole in the ground that appeared to be hidden. One of the members described the hole as “100 percent a human grave,” stating inside the hole was "a bag of lime and a tarp.”
The state said in court Friday that Mawhinney was at Fotis' Farmington home the night before and the morning of Jennifer's murder, and that Fotis called Mawhinney the evening Jennifer was murdered, but the content of the phone call couldn't be determined.

Kent Mawhinney's conspiracy to commit murder charge dropped in Dulos case

Interesting.... KM testified on Friday that he was on probation (his charges brought by his ex-wife preceding the Dulos charges) but that his probation was ending in 4 days.

IMO, FD would have cracked when he was returned to jail and held until trial, and his own words would have likely convicted both himself and KM.

KM was not vindicated here. He was just lucky that FD ended his life, and took all his secrets with him.

What in the world did he tell the State in order to get this deal? I'm sure it'll prove helpful should MT's future appeals get the green light.

A dead man, his mistress and an attorney walk into a bar...

Justice seems to be the joke here.

Only it's not at all funny.

See attached Pages 13-17 of KM's Arrest Affidavit that details the evidence they had against him:

KM was interviewed on 6/9 and 6/25/19 where similar to MT, he was vague about the meeting at Fore Group on 5/24 until he became aware of the "alibi scripts" and then he changed his story to the meeting being pre-scheduled.

KM allegedly fell down some stairs on 5/25/19, claimed to injure his head--resulting in memory loss, and also broke his cell phone.

Police have evidence of KM's phone pings near the gun club on 3/29/19-- the date KM made an inquiry about rejoining the Club and was told the location of the gate key, and not again until the evening of 5/31/19.

The "grave" was first discovered by other club members on 5/18/19, and it was observed filled with water around 5/22/19. By early June -- it was reportedly covered and "neat as a pin." We know the Gun Club grounds were thoroughly searched by LE and no evidence was found at this location. IMO, the minute word got back to KM that "the grave" had been discovered, the co-conspirators wasted no time abandoning this location!

KM's phone also polled the cell tower near FD's residence on 5/23 (when FD left party to purchase more meat), and 5/24 when KM met MT at the Fore Group Office.

I hope they dug 50 ft into the grave. An empty grave atop another one...

Although I suspect there was a sinister "if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" plan between FD and KM and the gun club was for KM's itch.... and FD's plan required more than just cutting off clothing... ponchos...

As far as I'm concerned, two men got away with murder. FD just didn't get very far.

In 2020, his 1st ex wife was granted sole custody of his 2 minor children (while he was going thru a divorce from his 2nd wife). Imagine being one of his 3 children. Such a shame. The twins were terrified of him. I hope he's not allowed to be a coach or referee, but who knows.
