UNCASVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) - Mohegan Tribal Public Works discovered skeletal remains in a wooded area adjacent to Cove Road in Uncasville on Thursday morning.

Public Works notified the Mohegan Tribal Police at around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Mohegan Tribal Police is conducting an investigation alongside State Police in Montville, New London County State's Attorney's office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.


There are no suspects at this time. There is no known cause of how the remains ended up the area in the first place. It is not known how long the remains have been in the wooded area.

It's hard to tell without a reconstruction but I think I may have found a match.

Rosan J. Angulo (sometimes goes by Mercado), a 55 year old Asian woman, from Houston, Texas has been missing since June 2, 2017. She was 5' 1" and 124 pounds when last seen. And wait until you hear this. Her son said his mother took some of her belongings and possibly traveled to New York. Mohican Sun is less than a 3 hour drive away from NYC. It's possible Angulo may've treveled to New York City and then decided she wanted to go on a Gambling Trip to an Indian Casino.

I would like to see the green pendant, but no picture of that available. Could this woman have used another (more American sounding) name? I couldn't find anybody reported missing by this (possible) name?

There's a large number of "Chinatown buses" that take people from the "Big 3" chinatowns of NYC (Chinatown, Flushing, Sunset Park) to Mohegan Sun - considering they seem to think she's Asian, coupled with the name, i think there's a possibility of her living alone in one of those neighborhoods, taking a bus to Mohegan Sun, and somehow winding up in her current state.

I'd like to point out also that her outfit can be identified - the jacket came from a JCPenny label and the Glasses are from a distributor/designer located on Long Island (But probably gets a lot of business from tri-state clinics). I wonder if the search should focus on those areas of NYC.

I'm betting that this lady lived alone, took a bus out to CT to gamble and was never noticed on the way back.

As a name, Chan seems to be pretty widespread, but also occurs in Cantonese.

My bet is maybe she had some sort of fading ID or ticket or such - enough to give her a possible name but not enough to work as an ID

Chan is a Malay surname. She could also be Chinese. Def not Japanese (which typically consist of 2 or more syllables) - you may be remembering "chan" as a Japanese endearment ie "Nice to see you here, 'hope-chan!"
