“The Ansonia Police Department and our law enforcement partners continue to follow leads and interview potential witnesses in our efforts to identify the person who killed Christine Holloway and locate our missing 1-year old child, Vanessa Morales,” Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a prepared statement Sunday.

“We would like to thank all the members of the community who have reached out to us and continue to reach out to us with information,” Lynch said. “No piece of information is too small or insignificant.”

[...]

In addition, Lynch referred to a community effort intended to motivate anyone who may have Vanessa in their custody to return her, no questions asked, to those who put a red light outside their homes.

[...]

“We are asking all the people who have shared the red light message to please add to their message that Vanessa should be brought to a local hospital, fire department, or police department,” Lynch said.

After 4 “code Adams” today at work for missing children I am little on edge, but grateful they were all found (just hiding). Following Vanessa’s case closely.

ETA: I hate code Adams but I am also deeply grateful that Adam Walsh’s legacy has lived on and saves other children.

What a great reminder you’ve shared with us. Thank you Kay. Hang in there. Take a deserved break. We count on you and your reliant consistency.

That's actually a good question. I just threw a few generic names into the search, and the earliest sentencing dates I'm seeing are 2010.

CT records do not show on the court or DOC page once the offenders sentence is completed. At least that's what I read on the department of corrections website. And it proved accurate when I searched a name that I know has multiple felonies but all sentence served. The only place I can find anything is when the incidents happened in online newspapers and some police blotters. But good luck finding this guy, his name is very common.

Police are also praising the community’s efforts on social media to bring Venessa home by placing a red light outside their home if they are willing to take in the baby girl from whoever has her.

“We believe the symbol of red light outside a home is a great way to show community support for Vanessa and her family until she is brought home,” said Lt. Lynch. “However the red light should be a reminder to whoever may have baby Vanessa to bring her to a local hospital, fire department, or police department.”

Is it just me, or is it insane to just drop a child off at a random house because they have a red light outside? I love the show of solidarity and support, but that's an odd campaign. I'd love to know where it started.

Does this include misdemeanors? Because I've found multiple people I know with misdemeanors on there, regardless of whether the sentence was served or not. I wonder if it's dependent on the crime?

The Ansonia Police Department and our law enforcement partners continue to follow leads and interview potential witnesses in our efforts to identify the person who killed Christine Holloway and locate our missing one-year old child, Vanessa Morales. We would like to thank all the members of the community who have reached out to us and continue to reach out to us with information. No piece of information is too small or insignificant, so please continue to contact the FBI tip line at 203-503-5555.

Last Night at about around 10:00 p.m. the New Haven Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Ella Grasso Boulevard on a report of a child seat left in a parking lot. Members of the Ansonia Police Department and FBI also responded and determined the car seat had no connection to our investigation. The seat was from a car that had been reported stolen in Hamden several days earlier.

There has been information circulating on social media encouraging people to place a red light outside their home if they were willing to take in our missing child from whomever has her. We believe the symbol of red light outside a home is great way to show community support for Vanessa and her family until she is brought home. However the red light should be a reminder to whoever may have baby Vanessa to bring her to a local hospital, fire department, or police department. We are asking all the people who have shared the red light message to please add to their message that Vanessa should be brought to a local hospital, fire department, or police department.

Anyone with information can contact the FBI at 203-503-5555, or leave a tip through www.tip411.com.

Ha, I figured as much. I should've clarified that I'm curious WHO started that campaign.

A random person replying to a post, honestly. Then they all got on this "give her to us" kick.

This might sound bad to some. Apologies in advance, if so. The first thing that came to my mind when I read the article was when I was young. I overheard my neighbors talking about how some lady the street over had a red porch light she turned on when her husband was out of town and she must be a hooker. It was years later before I found out what that meant. So, from that, I would probably avoid such a house. However, red lights would probably signal enough attention for someone to want to find out what’s going on in the neighborhoods - possibly reaching new segments of city residents who haven’t heard about the case. Who knows if it turns out to be an effective tool? I like your inquisitive nature wanting to find out how the campaign began. Now I wanna know too.

You know what I would think if I saw a red light this time of year?

"Oh, they put out a red light for Christmas."
