TRUSTEE WANTS TO SELL CASEY ANTHONY'S LIFE STORY

One New York publisher said Monday that Anthony's story has the potential to be worth seven figures.

"If she had the goods, and she was really going to spill the beans of what happened, particularly if she's not guilty, that's pretty big," said Eric Kampmann, the owner of Beaufort Books. "If she knew who the murderer was for example, that would be huge. That would be the biggest news story of the year."

Kampmann, who said he has been in contact with a member of Anthony's legal team but has no deal in place, is no stranger to controversial books. His publishing house reissued OJ Simpson's book, originally scheduled for release by ReganBooks, an imprint of HarperCollins. But "If I Did It" was dropped in response to widespread outrage. ReganBooks founder Judith Regan was later fired and her imprint disbanded.

A federal bankruptcy judge then awarded rights to the book to the family of murder victim Ronald Goldman to help satisfy a $38 million wrongful death
judgment against Simpson.

Beaufort Books, based in New York, published "If I Did It" with Simpson's original manuscript intact and commentary included. The Goldman family called the book Simpson's confession — the same description Regan offered in justifying the original publication. The Beaufort edition has sold more than 100,000 copies.

Kampmann said enough time has passed since Anthony's trial that her story could be marketable.

The hearing was set for April 9 in federal court in Tampa.

The judge in Casey Anthony's Chapter 7 bankruptcy has set a date next month to hear argument on whether her life story is an asset which can be sold in order to pay her debts.
The hearing was set for the morning of April 9 at the Sam M. Gibbons United States Courthouse in Tampa.
The trustee overseeing Casey Anthony's bankruptcy recently asked U.S. Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May for permission to sell "the exclusive worldwide rights in perpetuity to the commercialization of Anthony's life story" including her daughter's death and her high-profile murder trial.

Also set for hearing April 9 is a motion by Zenaida Gonzalez, a woman suing Anthony for defamation, for the judge's permission to further question Anthony about her finances, and who's been supporting her. Anthony's legal team countered that Gonzalez's lawyers already had that chance at a recent creditors' meeting.

The rights to the controversial life story of Casey Anthony could be auctioned to the highest bidder if a Florida judge approves a motion filed by the trustee overseeing Anthony's bankruptcy plans.

"My job is to liquidate any potential assets for the benefit of her creditors," Meininger told ABCNews.com. "Whatever we're able to get for it would be distributed to her creditors."

Allan Watkins, Meininger's attorney, said the sale can made without Anthony's consent since she filed for bankruptcy.

When asked if Anthony has consented or objected to the sale, Watkins told ABCNews.com, "She hasn't filed anything yet…I'm sure if she's unhappy with it, she'll raise it in court."

Because of the expected interest, the trustee asked the judge for permission to set terms for bidding in order to "maximize the value for the Estate and its creditors."

The creditors will not be paid unless they can prove their claims. This goes for Baez, ZG, whomever. In the case of ZG, she would have to prove her claim by having a trial (either in BK court or in state court, depending on what the BK judge decides).

The $$ would go to administrative expenses first (trustee fee etc.), then to creditors. As I noted above, the creditors will have to prove their claims. The creditors will be divided into classes--e.g., I believe the IRS and court cost claims would be given priority--and paid different %ages depending upon the class of the claim.

WOW did this station get it all wrong!!!
The way they promote this video clip makes it sound like Casey Anthony has accepted a new book deal - which she has not, and cannot now that the rights to her story are tied up in bankruptcy court.
They say Casey Anthony wants a book deal, and use the Trustee's Motion to sell rights to her story as the basis for their conclusion.
The Trustee selling the rights to her story is NOT for Casey Anthony to pocket money -- it is to pay her true creditors.

OBJECTION OF ZENAIDA GONZALEZ TO DEBTOR'S CLAIM of EXEMPTIONS

Zenaida's bankruptcy attorney R. Scott Shuker, filed an Objection to Casey Anthony claiming as exempt various personal items, and unspecified "Other Personal Property of Any Kind Not Already Listed", with value of $ 1,084.00.

Zenaida's attorneys says that discovery will show that the property claimed as exempt has a value in excess of the Florida Constitutional limit of $ 4,000.00....

Zenaida's attorney says that discovery will show the existence of funds and/or bank accounts being held by Casey Anthony's attorneys and unnamed friends.

On March 20, 2013 the Trustee filed a notice that he had recovered her assets and filed a notice fixing the deadline to file proofs of claim.
