Here's Bowie with Iggy on the Dinah Shore show. Its the second part of the interview and DS asked Iggy if he has influenced anyone and he says that he "helped wiped out the sixties." :)

But the cool part of this clip is when Bowie talks about what drew him to Iggy. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like many artists these days collaborate for the purpose creative exploration.

Piece of another interview with DS-- totally different David Bowie. Bowie talks about how he is inspired by other artists and his environment and what inspired him to be a musician.

At about 4:50 he talks about being a "self invented man", its interesting it really impressed upon me what he goes through continuously destructing and building himself up again.

He also talks about love.

One catches a glimpse or two of Eno in the Roxy Music video above.
Both essential names in glam/post glam, and, with Eno, in what was to come later.

Where are we now? David Bowie breaks decade of silence with new single on his 66th birthday

Music idol David Bowie broke years of silence and speculation today to release his first new single in a decade - with an album to follow.

His voice touches me more now than it has ever done. I guess because I'm now 51 and I can hear the wistfulness in his voice that only comes when we've reached a point in our life where we pause and reflect on what has passed and how little time there is left in comparison.

Aaahhh....the days of Bowie and Mott. Still love listening to these guys! Still have my vinyl LPs....saw Bowie the summer of '74 on the Diamond Dogs tour....Jai lai(sp) fronton in Altamonte Springs...got tickets the day they went on sale. I was so into the glitter rock scene back then. It was so much fun getting all dressed up in our wildest clothes for the concert....memories....Aladin Sane is my favorite album.

I remember the whole scene - record store, people I was with, all of it - when I bought the "All the Young Dudes" LP 40+ years ago (egad!).
