DC - 2 Israeli embassy staffers killed in apparent 'targeted attack' in Washington, DC, 22 May 2025

Threw his entire life away, and for what? Five minutes of internet fame? Not to mention the lives of two other innocent people that he stole. What does this act do to further the cause in Palestine/Israel? I don't understand what he hoped to acheive...RIP to the victims.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs identified the victims in a statement as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim: “We are shocked and horrified this morning by the news of the brutal terrorist attack that claimed the lives of two of our Embassy staff members in Washington — Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim. May their memory be a blessing. We embrace the grieving families during this painful time and will continue to support them always. Israeli diplomats and representatives around the world stand on the frontlines of Israel’s diplomatic efforts — defending the country with their very lives. We will not be deterred by terror. We will continue our mission across the globe, with unwavering commitment to represent Israel with pride.”
"Antisemitism will not be tolerated, especially in the nation's capital. We're going to continue to investigate this as a hate crime and a crime of terrorism," said interim United States attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro

During his first court appearance Thursday afternoon, Rodriguez -- wearing a white jail jumpsuit and flanked by two U.S. Marshals -- waived his right to a detention hearing and asked for a public defender. He is next scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on June 18

"We stand in prayerful mourning with our Jewish brothers and sisters and denounce this act of violence and antisemitic hatred in the strongest possible terms," said Bishop Joseph C. Bambera of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Metropolitan Archbishop Borys A. Gudziak of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia in a May 23 joint statement.

The bishops -- who respectively chair the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs and Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development -- said their hearts were "burdened by sorrow" over the murders of 26-year-old Sarah Lynn Milgrim and 30-year-old Yaron Lischinsky, who were fatally shot at close range while leaving a young diplomats reception at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington

“For some time I have accepted that, as a Jew, I just have to face facts that my safety and the safety of others is threatened anytime we’re in identifiably Jewish places, or if we appear identifiably Jewish,” he said. “That’s not new, so I don’t know if I feel any less safe now than I felt before. I can see how other people would feel that way. There’s no question it’s threatening. It’s very triggering for me and I suspect for other people who lived through 10-27-18, or people who lived through similar events.”
