Chief critical of detective at snowball fight

WASHINGTON - The head of the Washington, D.C., police union is decrying the police chief's public criticism of a detective for pulling a gun during a snowball fight.

Videos of the plainclothes officer holding a gun and telling people he pulled the weapon after getting hit by snowballs circulated widely on the Internet after the Saturday confrontation.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier on Monday called the officer's actions "totally inappropriate."
