Thank you. I was worried about those kids. From what I heard Relisha looked after her younger brothers. Now that Relisha isn't there for them how much more neglected are they with only their mother?

Apparently they were taken away because the so-called mother kept saying that Relisha wasn't missing. I imagine that, coupled with seeing how those poor little guys were living, caused them to be removed from the home.

I think little Relisha was either given away or sold and that the mother knew exactly what she was doing.

I agree. I didn't want to think of the mother like that but when I heard about the crisp $20.00 bills my mind jumped to the mom who gave her little girl in exchange for drugs. I can't remember the little girl's name but I still can see the video of the man (he was convicted) carrying this child in his arms in the motel. He raped and killed her.

As a local, I don't necessarily think of Hyattsville as being close to DC, but when you type in Eastern Avenue, Hyattsville MD in Google Maps, it comes very close to the Chapel Oaks location.

To try to help the non-locals: Eastern Ave. NE is literally the boundary between MD and DC. If you are driving in a northwest direction on that street, the addresses on your left are in DC and the addresses on your right are in MD. For example, the building at 1123 Eastern Ave is in Maryland and the building at 1126 Eastern Ave is in DC (totally random addresses, NOT associated with this case). The neighborhood as a whole is known as Chapel Oaks.

I guess it depends on which part of DC you're thinking of. Monuments, downtown? No. But I work in NE DC... very very NE, close to Hyattsville. I go from VA, to MD, to DC, back to MD, and into DC again going to work. :o

According to this the mother wouldn't admit Relisha was missing so they had to go to court to get custody of Relisha so they could report her missing and start the search.

My mouth is filling up with blood from biting my own tongue here.
I am still convinced that the items and money that were flashed on the dates which absolutely do correspond with Relisha missing, are tied to Tatum.

Have they announced whether or not Tatum has been captured. sorry all, I just got off a late shift and I'm coherent enough to read through all the links right at the moment. Please let me know the cliff notes. Thank you

Oh, DairyGirl, I know what that does to you. It immediately struck me the same way when I saw little Relisha walking down that hotel hallway with Tatum. It made fresh cracks in my heart for both of those precious little girls. Shaniya's flowers should be blooming soon. I will never, ever forget that beautiful little child and never stop grieving for her.

It's the same with little Teghan. Now Relisha. So many. Too many of our babies gone. My heart is heavy and torn as so many of ours are.

That monster janitor knows every nook and cranny of that shelter. LE needs to search it from top to bottom and even search it for any hidden rooms.

War has to be declared on these forms of breathing material that can do this to our babies and children.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Obviously, it`s not great living in a homeless shelter, so I -- you can understand, maybe she thought, well, he has a grandchild, which we understand -- and they`re the same age. And oh, you stay there with this nice family, and they`ll take care of you while we`re stuck in the homeless shelter. Was that the basic thinking?

CARTER (godmother): I don`t think it was that. I really can`t speak on her thoughts as to why she did it.

I REALLY wonder what the godmother is thinking the reasoning is???

Interesting Update on ABC7 News a few minutes ago. (No link available yet)
According to the update, Relisha's school requested a Dr. letter to state why she was out of school for so long. A note was returned to the school from a "Dr.Tatum".
Also, apparently Relisha's mother did not approve the Amber Alert, according to this report.
I'll post as soon as the link is up.
From what i've learned, the AA failed to go out properly due to lack of and mis-communication between LE agency's.

The man suspected of abducting an 8-year-old girl in Washington posed as a doctor and told school administrators Relisha Rudd had been sick to explain repeated absences from class, according to Beatriz Otero, D.C. Deputy Mayor of Health and Human Services.
An Amber Alert remains in effect for Rudd who authorities believe is being held by Kahlil Malik Tatum.
Shamika Young, Rudd’s mother, provided officials at Payne Elementary School the name and phone number of a doctor who accounted for the girl’s absences, according to Otero. It wasn’t until school staff members visited the shelter where Rudd and her family had been staying that they became suspicious.

Re's mom GAVE the school the number to the "doctor"...which is Tatum. Can we agree that this is conspiring orrrr is that still not allowed.

This is getting worse and worse. 'Shamika Young...provided the name and number...believed to be Tatum.'

They actually TALKED to Tatum. So many folks have attacked school officials for not doing anything. It's very hard for a school to know what's going on, when a parent is actually behind something like this. I'm glad they got suspicious and went to the shelter.

I have no words (or, no words that would be within TOS).

ETA - Ohhieliz - I do see that you quoted the same thing above. I just... had to repost... it's so unbelievable...

"Shamika Young, Rudd’s mother, provided officials at Payne Elementary School the name and phone number of a doctor who accounted for the girl’s absences, according to Otero. Calls to the doctor, believed to have been Tatum, prevented officials from becoming immediately suspicious.

School officials visited the shelter where Rudd and her family after the absences continued and they had not received written confirmation of her illness. It was at that time they realized something was wrong. Her disappearance was only brought to the attention of police last week.
