I'm too frustrated at her FB, I'll just sit here in the dark unless someone wants to hold my hand, lol. I will say that I totally want a Ray Charles backpack now though.

LOL I actually googled "ray charles backpack" and found zero results. I would buy that thing if I ever ran across it, simply for the camp quality and the fact you can't get more bootleg. What an odd choice as a donated backpack or a purchased one! I only state donated because of the shelter situation and it appears most of everything was donated

that's what I figured too but wanted to bring it up since it's confusing everyone, I think even those who've not found the page. I still don't know where her being in a hospital comes from. I can't find anything about that.

ah I see...
when the story first broke her fiancé told LE she was hospitalized.
maybe it was a misunderstanding or proven not to be true because I don't see it in the link anymore..

Relisha had been staying at the D.C. General family shelter with her mother and stepfather for the past year, according to Channel 9′s Delia Gonçalves. Relisha’s stepfather says her mother — who is now hospitalized — gave Relisha to a male janitor who works at the shelter more than three weeks ago, but they haven’t seen the girl since.

This was the article as it was first posted. I believe it was post #5 or #6 in this thread. I don't know if facts have changed or if the mother is in the hospital, but that's what was reported.

"Just bring my daughter home. That's all I want, just bring my daughter home," said Antonio Wheeler, Relisha's stepfather, pleading with Khalil Tatum.
Wheeler said the initial fear of his step-daughter being abducted intensified after learning that she could now be with a man police believe is a murderer.
"I have no idea where she is. No idea," he said.
Wheeler added that he was blind-sided by a man he thought he knew and trusted.
"Mr. Tatum had been helping us out (at the shelter). He'd been showing us the ropes, showing us around, telling us when the activity room closed and what programs they have going on. He's a good man, I never got no bad vibes or a salty taste in my mouth about him," said Wheeler.

Tiffany Young is Relisha's aunt, sisters with Relisha's mother. She wonders how her niece got mixed up in this mess.
"You only know (Tatum) because you were in the shelter. You don't know his background, you don't know anything. He don't have no kids, so why is she going over there unsupervised? What is she going over there for?" she asked.
"She's my only niece," said a tearful Young. "She's just a cheerful little girl. She's innocent."
Young said she thinks that her sister, Relisha's mother, knows more than she's saying.
"My sister, (Relisha's) mother, needs to come out and tell everything that she knows," said Young.
But Wheeler defended Relisha's mother, Shamika.
"For those who don't know, Shamika been 100% honest for the past 48 hours. I can honestly say I've seen a change in her," said Wheeler.

I won't start on a rant, but seriously we could talk shop - I'm curious about the capacity of this shelter. With it being an old hospital, I'm assuming a wing is being used and not the entire thing? If the whole building is being used then that's rather large and easy to dodge people. I'm wondering if there's an understaffing issue and parents doing the ole cps shuffle (kid is at grandparents, at school, with dad, with auntie..) as excuses why she wasn't available.

Is it prove that mom was at the hospital? I don't know that it was. When you say getting more money from being in the hospital, are you talking about disability? She wouldn't have received disability payment that quickly, and I feel like she's already getting the max assitance allowed by the state with being homeless, awaiting housing, on tanf, foodstamps and medicaid plus free schooling. I would speculate that if she's ever been diagnosed with a mental illness and did the 7 days inpatient then she's maybe already on ssi and disability. That latter part is speculation, the rest is pretty par for the course (their xmas was donated - they are considered destitute). So that makes the sudden bit of cash, new shoes and parading of JUST the younger siblings rather strange.

Notice that she's flashing the boys and not her daughter after a certain date and there's no fb posts indicating she misses her, is looking for her or that she herself is ill. She only posts about wanting to smoke weed and being with what I'm assuming is her lovers.

Trying to be delicate. . . .I meant getting more money and then winding up in the hospital. Sometimes people that live a certain lifestyle self destruct every time they come into a little money. :moo:

What is the timing when the fbi got involved and when mom went to the hospital?

  • #273
interesting one of her sisters interviewed said tatum has no kids so that means there is no granddaughter...............this is a very strange case.

Her words are not very positive in that direction, nor are they on FB either. I've been digging around trying to get a grasp on who is truly related and who is just friends etc. :banghead: <--- that sums up how frustrated I feel. Never has a case been more bleak

From what it sounds like in the interviews coming out now:

1) they have NOT known Tatum for years as claimed; I think they met him at the shelter, and he became 'like a godfather' to Relisha; I don't think he *is* her godfather.

2) Relisha's aunt sounds very straightforward; I dug around in her FB some (all of these people have such public FB pages), and what she is saying seems closer to the truth; I don't think she knew Relisha was with Tatum until now.

Found this and I think it answers some questions. I really think we are going to need all of this for a timeline. This is not going to be a simple abduction case - at all.

"Evidently, a social worker who was concerned about Relisha called the police on Wednesday, which began the original search for her. The Washington Post reported that the mother said she had talked with Relisha by phone and did not consider her a runaway. She also stated she knew who she was with and asked him to return Relisha but he has not done so."

This reminds me of a case mentioned in the book Protecting the Gift in which a mom is at a mall, shopping at a shoe sale. Her preteen son is bored, and some man keeps hanging around, asking if he wants to go to the mall arcade with him. The mom says he can't go, and she keeps shopping for shoes. The man kept saying his son was at the arcade, and he'd introduce him to the boy, etc, etc. The mom said 'no' again. Then she tried on shoes, looked up, and her son was gone. She ran to the door, and the last time she saw her son he was getting into a vehicle with the man.

It sounds like Tatum may have made up the bit about having a granddaughter. Maybe there's another child Relisha sometimes played with around him that he referred to as his 'granddaughter' - who knows. But predators often lure kids with the promise of playing with another kid.

There are three things I think could be happening right now (and it makes me ill to think of any of them):

1) It's too late for Relisha.
2) Tatum has her and is obsessed with her, can't give her up.
3) Tatum is making money off of her, or has made money by selling her, and no longer has her.

I keep hoping to check the headlines and see that they have found her. But the longer she goes missing.... the more I worry.

Doesn't consider her a "runaway"? I think she is missing the point. :banghead:

Also, I don't believe that she spoke to her. MOO

i'm leaning towards #2 which would explain the dead wife.

I really want to know when mom went to the hospital
I want to know where the cash both parents were seen flaunting has come from
Did all the kids get new shoes or just the boys, mom and dad?
and what did step-dad mean by "I noticed a change in her the last 48 hours" *saying he believed she knew nothing. Why the last 48 when she's been gone for at least 3 weeks?!

And 3 weeks ago is when the mom and step dad had money and were rolling around town getting stoned and flash cash in their mouth, taking photos of it etc.

There's an interview with Relisha's mom here that was done tonight - and she's not in the hospital. Looks to be outside of the shelter at DC General:
