The money was probably from selling drugs or any other nefarious activity that homeless people in SE DC do.

Drugs and prostitution are the main sources of income for people in the hood.

Really now?

I was out last night and didnt get to read much, but now im in for the day. I just asked my bf who is a sneaker collector and the manager of a sneaker store about the shoes. He knows his shoes, lol. The photo is kind of blurry, and without seeing the inside tags and such its hard to tell if they are all real. But from what he sees he is almost positive they are real, and he says the prices range from 75-180. depending on if they are adult or childrens sizes.

Not sure if this helps much, other than actually seeing how much money she had and was spending around that time.

and like Astrokitty said, unfortunately i dont see a little girls shoes and feet in that photo at all.

I really believe she was just sold to this man. But then I have to wonder where he would get all of this money to purchase her.. unless he was selling her out to other men :(

I haven' read the whole thread. But let's see if I got the gist of this.

Family lives in a homeless shelter and has for a year. Near the date date that Relisha goes missing, the family buys new expensive shoes? Mom has been lying about the child's whereabouts to authorities and family? She is concerned about the man who has her child, maybe moreso than concerned about her daughter or about the man's wife who turned up dead?

Yeah I'm pretty suspicious about her too!

"I didn’t see anything wrong with him. He’s a good guy," Young told WRC-TV Friday. "When [Relisha] did go out with him, he brought her back. He would take her shopping, took her to see Disney on Ice, he bought her a tablet for Christmas, took her out to eat with his granddaughter."
She pleaded with the suspect to bring her child home.
"Bring my daughter back to me right now, please," Young said. "It’s crazy. I want to know what’s going on."

How are there NO sightings? This case has me so frustrated I want to pull my hair out.

One resident of the shelter said "everybody knows" Tatum, the man suspected to be with Relisha, adding that he once bought her daughter a fish tank. Another resident questioned the background check process at D.C. General.

"Relisha, her parents and her brothers need a home," a woman who took the microphone at the end of the vigil said. "They're in a small room, packed like rats. This brings a lot of stress and tension. The man that took her was trying to relieve her of this stress. As a community, I think we should do something so they can get their own home. If they had their own home, this situation would not have arisen."

What a horror we have here... i'm so worried for this poor kid that (it appears) everyone failed, except the school counselor who went on to report Relisha missing!

Looking at the mother and step-father's FB's now... I see no shares or mention of Relisha being missing at all! Have I missed any social media shares by this family? Because I don't see one, and i'm so upset. :'( Let's keep working and pray for this child!

I'm confused about the mother...what is her name? I've seen Shamika and Mika as a first name and Rudd and Young as a surname...

  • #448
Anyone good with Photoshop and can make a poster of Tatum without mustache?

I think it's a good idea. Thoughts?

Shamika. You have the surname correct, yes. Look for one (fb) where the pic is orange in color.

VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO! Says wife is common law wife! There's a photo from one of the charges against KARL LEE TATUM from ARLINGTON CIRCUIT for breaking and entering, grand larceny on 8-26-03 at the time of 1:25 in the video. Proof again that Kahlil is Karl Lee!! I don't know how to screen shot, but maybe someone else here does and can post it.

Mika is short for Shamika (she is known as Mika)

Looks like he was grooming another littlr girl, but the mother was smart enough to put a stop to it. unfortunately Relisha's mother did not have the intelligence to see where this was going. Can't believe how gullible Shakira was.JMOO

I think this case has more to do with greed than it does stupidity. But who knows at this point.

I'm working on it, but my kids are NOT happy with my Websleuths activity today.

FWIW, there is a closed caption button on the video player (CC), and the built in captions are actually pretty good (they aren't always, IME).

Have a look at the video with the CC activated. IDK if this is at all helpful. I type a good 65-70 wpm, and it's helpful when I have :earson: downstairs. However, I need a bit of uninterrupted time with my headphones on to transcribe the entire segment onto the thread, and I"m not sure if I"ll be able to pull this off right at this very moment.

Seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY????? You cannot work harder for someone than they work for themselves. They have a warm, safe, free shelter. They OPENLY choose to spend their money on drugs and brand name items. But the community is at fault for not providing them with a bigger place of their own? Can't cope.

I agree with you. You have to *want change in order to receive change. I think it's safe to say that Shamika was comfortable allowing others to take care of her and her children verses she herself doing it. They had been at the shelter a good while, not just recently and I understand the waiting lists for section 8 housing and the qualifications to receive it, she could have been saving back money for furniture or anything else besides high end items that the kids are going to grow out of, and drugs.

The idea that this wouldn't have happened if they had had a home is taking them attempting to take the blame off a mother who shouldn't have been giving her child to a non-relative for an extended period of time. So many quotes that the people involved have made are just upsetting and miss the bigger point. I'm not sure that woman (whoever she may be) or Re's mother truly understand what responsibility for your actions looks like.
