The news in this case just gets worse every day. Oh, this poor child. Relisha, where are you, sweetie?

Surveillance video taken in a D.C. hotel last month shows a young girl believed to be a missing 8-year-old -- and it shows the man police say is accompanying her.

snipped and bolded by me

:thud:

That poor baby! Find her!!!

I hate to jump to conclusions, but he is pimping her! He most likely abused her himself. Oh Em Gee! And if mom knew and was complacent. . .:furious:

Yes, all of the vehicles they know of have been found - this last one last Thursday in Hyattsville. Either he disguised them enough for public transportation, or they are with someone else now. It is like finding a needle in a haystack at this point... :(

Thank you, I thought it was found. So why leave that info on the AA? Someone may see them and think "oh that's not them because they're supposed to be in a white truck" :tantrum:

That's lovely. So no idea where they are now. I think that Alert should go out all over the US at this point. Maybe even further.

Great article. Very well written - and straight to the point. Much more at the link. Thank you, Petula Dvorak, for taking up this case and for writing what you did.

Relisha Rudd’s disappearance deserves as much attention as Malaysian jetliner’s

Sweet-faced 8-year-old Relisha Rudd deserved better.

She deserved a mother who protected and cared for her and didn’t hand her over to a janitor....

...She deserved a social safety net that recognized her life was chaotic, unstable and dangerous — and caught her.....

And right now, she deserves as much attention as a missing Malaysian airliner. She deserves an all-out nationwide manhunt.

She deserves the rage, tears, sympathy and tireless work of a city and a nation that shouldn’t stand for the kind of eight years she’s lived and the way she simply disappeared into the ether on Feb. 26....

...But this isn’t about Young, and this isn’t a debate about the life choices of poor mothers and whether they deserve our sympathy and assistance. Say what you want about homeless parents — many are victims of a whiplash economy and an affordable-housing crisis, many others are just plain careless — but their children didn’t ask for this life.....

:tyou: belimom!

hollye,

If you click on the link at the end of the post belimom linked (it's a google map link), you should be able to "add destination" to it, so you don't have to start from scratch.

From there, you can make the screen shot, and post the update IMG code. I've been lurking all day, so I apologize for not being able to help out with the maps as I usually do :blushing:

If you need help with anything, just say the word.

I've seen this many times. If people don't understand FB, and they go in to list that they are "married" or whatever relationship status is, it posts THAT day, as if that were the day it happened. Unless you actually add it as a life event with the correct date.

Tatum listed it as a life event and said he got married on that date.

As of 2008, she was still Andrea Denise Kelly. Since her name wasn't Tatum until later, I tend to think they did get married in 2011.

The video made me feel ill...this is the saddest thing I can imagine for this poor girl. :(

That was beautiful.

Another quote:
It is up to us to help these kids, to do everything we can to give them a better life and a better future. Ask yourself: Have we done that?
.....
Take a look at that picture of Relisha’s sweet face. Even before she disappeared, her eyes were so sad. She deserved our protection. She didn’t get it.

ITA ticya! I hope Mr. Dvorak's article reaches readers everywhere, and raises awareness about Relisha's plight. This is a story of many facets, and a cautionary tale that has touched SO many of us here, regardless of our own socioeconomic status.

We care on a human level, and I believe Relisha's case will have the power to shine the light of truth and transparency on what she was going through before she was taken.

Her story must be told - in order for systemic change to occur. :moo:

That's lovely. So no idea where they are now. I think that Alert should go out all over the US at this point. Maybe even further.

I've found that the AA systems are receptive to feedback - when the Felix children were abducted from Los Angeles, AmberAlert.com had the most up to date info (photos, etc.), so I emailed the link & PDF file of the updated flyer to NCMEC's (MissingKids.com/Amber) "Contact Us" page & they quickly updated their pages.

I'm mobile, so I can't link the page here ATM, but IMO, it might be worth it to try to send this info to them, so they can update their AA pages.

A quick google search for the contact page of each site should bring it up. I am certain MissingKids.com accepts attachments on their contact page.

I hope this helps, & ITA, an updated AA is crucial in helping to #FindRelisha :heartbeat:

Tatum listed it as a life event and said he got married on that date.

If you look at his photos there is one from January 21, 2012 of him and his wife that says they've been together 21 years at that point. That's where others are probably getting that info from. I wouldn't put much stock in the December 2011 date as I'm sure it doesn't mean anything really. If you look at the date he joined FB it was December 29, 2011. He was probably adding life events, added that he was married, and that is why it shows that it was recorded on December 30, 2011.

Personally I don't think they were married at all in the legal sense. When she was identified as the deceased woman in the motel room it was stated in MSM that she was Tatum's common law wife.

There is a $25,000 reward for the whereabouts of Relisha.
There is also a second $25,000 reward for the capture of Tatum.

That is $50,000 if someone knows where they BOTH are!
:please:

My apologies if this link has been posted. I had no idea that LE had actually released the surveillance video of Relisha and Tatum at the hotel. I just watched it - and like TLC said - I feel sick. Flashbacks to Shaniya, and that did not end well.

I hope they have scoured that hotel room for any evidence.

MSM did state common law wife, however, there was an update today stating the couple had filed for divorce in early Feb! So they were married at some point, how long, I do not know. We know he was in prison, released in Oct. 2011. No idea if they were married before that prison term or after. There are photos on FB that Andrea had children prior to marrying him. 3 boys and a girl have the last name Kelly. Though the Tatums still could have been married 21yrs and Andrea had the kids before. I just don't know. I haven't seen an obituary at this point.

I believe that a common law marriage requires a legal divorce. And I can't believe they don't have an obituary out yet...

Wow, this whole story is just bizarre.

Anyway, to answer your first question, the homeless shelters I've had contact with usually make people get out during the day. If they didn't, people would just hang out 24/7 and not try to do anything to better themselves. Most people either go into some sort of educational/trade program, go to work, or are out on the streets panhandling until the shelter opens in the evening. Making people leave also eliminates the need for staff to be present during the day which reduces costs.

With regards to your second statement, I'm not really surprised they had a janitor. I volunteered in one shelter that offered tons of other services besides being a shelter (job training, meals, clothing donations, a low-cost daycare, etc.) and had offices that handled each of those services. They did have a janitor that came in to clean the offices and daycare center because they had some issues previously with theft when having the persons living in the shelter cleaning those areas.

Clearly hiring a person who'd been charged with theft was a great idea.

My guess is the one person who knew where they both were was found dead in a motel room. That's probably why she ended up that way.
$50 k is a pretty big reward. Somebody start talking !!!!
