Sorry, no, it was in comparison to this post (my apologies for not being clear) - that started the dialogue regarding Relisha's face not looking right. This discussion has been going on since Page #36 (hope this makes sense)

ETA: other WSers noticed Relisha was on the opposite side of klt, and the resolution wasn't as clear on her face, so maybe it was just a camera issue. However, I'm looking at how clear the carpet looks vs. the NBC footage, and I'm hard pressed to dismiss how her face looks. This may be a different camera. There are parts of the carpet that look the same, leading up to the bottom of the image mpnola linked.

It will make more sense if you are able to read all of the previous posts, as I'm trying to paraphrase what other people are saying (and probably not doing a very good job of it :blushing: )

What you are saying makes sense... when I look at that photo, to me her whole upper body looks a bit distorted/ out of proportion somewhat though.

Going to shuttup because I have no clue.

This CBS article confirms the video is from the Holiday Inn Express on 2/26

Day Three: Dive Teams Continue Search Effort for Missing Relisha Rudd
March 29, 2014 11:49 AM

(snip)
On Tuesday, authorities released surveillance footage of Tatum and Relisha taken on Feb. 26 at the Holiday Inn Express located at 1917 Bladensburg Road in Northeast D.C.

The embedded video link is here:

I don't know if this helps at all....

She doesn't look upset at all in the video on 2/26. She's following him, not resisting or anything.

No, please don't! I want to believe it's just the camera popsicle! I'm not meaning to argue with anyone, honest

Just seeing her go into that hotel room door is making me come unglued. Not knowing what happened to her, or what's happening to her now, is beyond difficult. Truth is, I have no clue either.

I hope this post makes sense - no conflict meant whatsoever....

I found the video via NBCWashington & pulled the best screengrabs I could. I noticed something interestingly (and infuriating, as 2Hope4 stated  ) - there is a timestamp for Relisha walking down the hallway towards the camera:

but as she enters the room with klt :bandhead: - notice, the timestamp is gone! :waitasec:

Also, Pat Collins' report mentions "sourcrs say" KLT took Relisha to ANOTHER hotel on New York Avenue on March 1st, followed by his visit to Home Depot. :tantrum:

Heres' the video segment link, dated March 28, 2014:

http://www.nbcwashington.com/video/#!/news/local/Police--Tatum-Had-Contact-With-Other-Girls-at-Shelter/252956831

The possibility exists that the other photo, that started this dialogue, could be from March 1st. Perhaps we need to take a closer look at the background and/or the carpet, to see whether or not we can discern if it's the same hotel/motel hallway. The footage/images posted here are from 2/26. If the other image, meant to isolate the boots, are from 3/1, Relisha's face may still be swollen. I can't do that at this moment. I am falling apart after putting this post together.....

Heaven help this precious child! I need to take a moment to go hug my girls, light a candle, and say a prayer for Relisha! :tears: :praying:

The two images are from the same hotel. I already was looking and the hallway carpeting matches up. I suppose the "puffy faced" image could have been a still shot that was taken from the same footage that was released, before they came into view on that camera. I'm sure the FBI didn't release all of the footage. However, I still think they are from two different times, possibly two different days in that hotel (Holiday Inn Express on Bladensburg). Her face does not look the same in both of them. :moo:

Ok, I need someone to help me get this right. From what I am understanding, the hotel room that is being searched right now is where they found Andrea Tatum? Was Relisha ever in the same room with Andrea? I am getting lost with all these different hotel rooms I guess. TIA to whoever can set me straight! :loveyou: :seeya:

The last hotel room they were searching was the SECOND hotel that he had Relisha at on March 1st. That one is most likely the Days Inn around the corner from the Holiday Inn. Myself and another person found the location last night and matched the image released in the media to the other via google maps.

To sum it up we have three hotels that we know of:
Holiday Inn Express on Bladensburg - Tatum and Relisha there on 2/26
Days Inn on New York Ave NE - Tatum and Relisha there on 3/1
Red Roof Inn Oxon Hill - Andrea Tatum found there 3/20 (Relisha was NOT with the 5 people who checked in on 3/19 around 10pm)

I was looking at the gma's pics earlier on SM. It is amazing how much time these people spend in motels and hotels. I don't know about anyone else, but the only time my family goes to a hotel is when we are visiting out of town, vacationing, etc. These people seem to just decide "hey, let's all go to a hotel!" on a whim. What is up with that??

 • #948
TY for this! Is it me, or is something going on with Relisha'a face?

Is this the image another WSer mentioned a while back, (?belimom) that something was off?

I can't even begin to type it. The bright pink/red on the left cheek & just swollen look. Her boots aren't that out of focus & I'd expect more movement from her limbs...

Does anyone see this?

:tears:

It looks like she's had an allergic reaction or been hurt. :(

I noticed on one of the videos where they interviewed another homeless woman that just had a baby, that she qualified to have a hotel room due to the temperature. Paid for by the state.

NurseBeeme addressed this upthread in response to a similar question. I'm not saying this has anything to do with the players in relation to Relisha. This is what Nurse said:

a lot of times people live in hotels nikki... at least in metro area here.. heck I live in the woods and there is a hotel up the state route and they have weekly rates and people live there.

:twocents:

People don't have to pass a credit check to stay long term in a m/hotel, just have the ability to pay (often times by the day, or the week), so it's a viable housing option for those who aren't able to manage monthly rentals. There have been long term residents who were interviewed (faces hidden) who observed klt and his vehicle at one of the hotels you mentioned in your awesome post upthread.

What we don't know is whether or not the hotel room Tatum's wife was found murdered in was hers or not. If they were already separated, it's possible she could have been staying there :moo: If this has been released, and I missed it, my apologies.

There are certainly more sinister reasons for people to be in that transient (non-long-term) environment, and when I think about them, it's the LAST place an 8-year old should ever be. :twocents:

Good questions...

Why were they at so many different hotels?....

The only thing I can think of is for nefarious reasons (I.e. Drug deals, etc.)

Or that they don't want to clean their own home... And want to stay where it is cleaner...

:loveyou: You gave me my first smile in awhile. TY! I think I'm going to find a hotel to stay in. I'm tired of cleaning, and laundry, and mowing grass, shoveling snow, cooking...the list goes on. I want room service, and a maid. Question is, how am I going to pay for it?

We could live in a hotel here for less then $500 a month.
Renting a place to live is a minimum of $800.
I have seriously considered it more than once... if I didn't have kids I'd be there. :seeya:

<above snipped by me>

It is a possibility that if she was contemplating leaving him, she may have been staying at hotels. But, the one she was found in we know she checked in the night before she was found there, with him and three others. She hadn't been staying in that room prior to that.

The court papers give a timeline of Tatum's whereabouts and say he checked into the motel at 10:04 p.m. on March 19 with his wife and three other people.

As for your other statement, ITA. And interestingly enough when media announced that the hotel from March 1 was on New York Ave in DC, I immediately went to google to see what hotels were in that area. Just typing "New York Avenue Washington DC" into google's search brings up a suggestion of "new york avenue washington dc prostitution" Not a good area to have a child at in my opinion!

It would be for him, since he was more than likely prostituting her

I really hope Im wrong about that

It is not uncommon for some motels/hotels to have extended or weekly rates. Nor is it uncommon for some homeless charities to issue vouchers for hotels where there is not enough room in the local shelter.

In my town, our homeless organization only issues motel vouchers because we don't have a shelter. The organization has agreements with several motels in the area for reduced rates.

Just some of the ways that motels can be used for emergency housing. Also there are several SOR (single occupancy room) type hotels across the country, with many of them being back East. These types of hotels are intended for long term residency of single occupants.

My Aunt was put up in a hotel for a while by the state.
It was ten times better than the crack house they put her in next. :twocents:

I found this article posted in the comment section of a story on Relisha, and my jaw hit the floor:

In D.C. mayor’s race, Vincent Gray has secret weapon: Support of growing ex-prisoner vote
By Aaron C. Davis, Published: March 22 (2014)

(snip)
In a busy city services building in the heart of Anacostia, the Office on Ex-Offender Affairs used to be hidden on the third floor, behind a wooden door that always seemed to be locked... More than 5,000 residents with records visited the office in 2013, its first year in the new location.

Gray also signed into law early in his tenure a key priority of the advocates: a ban within city agencies on asking job applicants whether they had been convicted of a crime.

Since then, the District has hired 534 former inmates — most for positions with benefits, including hundreds into jobs that were once off-limits because of their proximity to children, such as school bus attendants, drivers and camp directors.

The city has placed 400 more ex-offenders in jobs with private construction firms and paid for 112 to complete training for commercial driver’s licenses. Last year, the government enlisted nearly two dozen city departments, courts and federal prisons to begin a broader effort to get ex-offenders hired.

This may have played a role in klt's ability to obtain work at the DC General Shelter. If so, the fact that they're displacing families in response to what is clearly IMO a much larger, and politically motivated systemic issue, is another tragic facet to this story.

How many more children must be hurt, as pawns, in the games these people are playing? :banghead:

I'm off on Monday and might go wander around DC just to kind of do some site stalking, since I'm local. Is there anything in particular anyone wants photos/details of? If the weather wasn't so nasty this weekend, I'd go tomorrow, too.
