If he shot himself in the forehead or in the mouth, that is exactly where it would land- in the lap. Not that far fetched, to me. Definitely not as far fetched of what the alternative would have to be of someone else doing it, planting him/ the gun, not having evidence of someone else and tricking the police into believing it was suicide. I will believe them and just go with that it was suicide.

Off subject, my cousin committed suicide and did exactly what you described but the gun wasn't in his lap. There's also a group here but I can't think of the name of it and there's a retired female police officer that said she thinks Relisha wouldn't be found in the park and was possibly sold. Messed up to think but that's where I got the idea from plus with the recent police involvement in the other cases I mentioned... it wouldn't be hard for a police officer to cover up something... they wouldn't have to sneak anything into the park. IJS, IT'S JMO.

One thing... since we were talking about Union Station. That's the Metro side of the train station. The Amtrak side has different floors. All Metro stations have that red floor. Just a thought. I am brainstorming like crazy right now.
