I am surprised so much information is being received in the media about all these phone calls to and from the home and who said what on these phone calls.

The amount of details is surprising to me. Even though a lot of it is sketchy. Normally LE would tell everyone involved not to talk to the media because it is an active investigation.

I am very surprised we are hearing as much as we have.

The call info is coming from NG or from LE through the media? I'm also surprised how much is being shared with the media, not just one outlet but interviews with more than one. Unusual.

The husband knocked on front and back door- no answer. He called into the house and Mr S said they weren't there that Amy and the maid went to the hospital because Amy was sick. (Fox5)

I've missed this. Was it in a tweet or a new article? In the video I watched, Nelly doesn't give those details.

I looked on their website, but haven't found it. It certainly is new and important information.

But again, how would Mr. S. know how to call him and who he was? And it seems unlikely they were dragging bound hostages around to identify him.

If the husband actually beleived the story, I very much doubt he would have gone to the hospital.
For what purpose? He would have gone home and waited for his wife to show up there.

I think at this point, the husband would have to be really worried about the whole situation.
I would expect he would go to the hospital to find his wife and talk to her. He has not talked to her in almost 2 full days at this point.

First his wife never shows up the night before and according to NG she had never slept over at SS house before. So his wife never shows up.

The next day he goes to the house and hears that she is at the hospital with someone else so the situation would be an emergency and he would want to go talk to her. He had probably been trying to call her on her own phone that whole day and getting no answer on her phone.
I think by this point he would be very suspicous and want to meet with her.

It was on the news at the time I posted. The maid's husband called Mr S. They didn't specify if it was on a cell phone, intercom or ?

I agree he would be worried about his wife and want to see her/talk to her. I know my husband would be demanding it.

But...there might be understandable reasons for the husband not to contact LE. Many immigrants are uneasy about contacting LE, unfortunately - and tragically in this case. I don't know why the husband didn't call LE on Wednesday night when his wife didn't return home, as that seems a reasonable 911 call to me, but we don't know all the dynamics of their situation. Things might have been very different if someone alerted LE on Wednesday....

We haven't heard anything about husband showing up at any hospitals.

Exactly.

If he called into the house verbally or even on the phone, then how did they immediately know who he was.

I doubt the maid was even alive at that point but even if she was I doubt she was tied up right near the front door to be able to look outside.

How long had these two been married?

Could he have been the guy who claimed he was looking for his "brother"...watching the fire?

The wife was getting ready to retire, return to the home she bought, be near her children. She was "stressed."

In the interview, where Nelly says that the wife told her she wanted to work at S's house that day, it sounds like she was scheduled to work elsewhere.

Did her husband know where she was working? If she was supposed to get off early and never came home all night, one would imagine the husband would be terrified.

We obviously are missing a whole lot of this story or some stuff is just wrong.

When he called in, he could have said who he was. In fact most people would start with identifying themselves when calling in to someone they don't know.

They've been married a few years, but knew each other in childhood. They grew up in the same place in El Salvador and met again as adults in DC. Link is upthread.

Good point. That is one way they may have known.

Then he would have been walking around the house, shouting to be heard inside. That should have caused some attention to the yard crew or neighbors who seem aware of prowlers, vacuum salesmen, etc.

He would need to shout...because his wife's phone was "dead" and the interview made it sound like Mr. S. called HIM. (Another odd detail.) not the other way around.

If he had HAD the family's phone number, wouldn't he have called first before he went over there?

Was he seen around the house that day, I wonder?

When someone dials into voicemail to check their messages, is there a way to tell that happened or not?

We heard from NG that she didnt check her voicemail till Thursday and just wondering if LE has a way to prove that or not. When I check my voicemail on my house phone it resets the number to the number of messages to play it again so I am not sure if there is a way or not to know it has been played already. On a cellphone maybe there is a record of it somehow.

I am convinced he would have had to be very suspicous after he left that house.
And surely the perps inside were worried he may be going to go to the hospital and find out she is not there and call LE after that. So I am thinking the perps lit the fire shortly after he left.

I would like to find the time of when he was there at the house and compare that to when the fire was reported by the neighbor. I would expect the fire to be lit shortly after he left.

These are all good points.

I agree that it sounds almost like he was shouting or talking through the doors or windows with SS which would be very strange in itself. That alone would make him real suspicous.

Even if an intercom was on the front door, I doubt it was on the other door where he walked around to another door. Usually people would only have it on the main front door. So I am kind of outruling an intercom.

Its almost like he was on a mission to find his wife at that point. I bet he was really worried about her.

Gosh, this case is so frustrating and sad.

The good news is I bet LE has much more than we know as they usually do. Maybe they are letting everyone talk to the media to catch them when their stories twist up.

Nelly has an iPhone, we can clearly see it in the video. If the voice mail was left on that phone, then the police could easily find out what time the voice mail was listened to. As for a house phone, I'm not sure.

Originally we understood that the husband didn't get to the house until mid morning, 1030 ish. Now we understand that he was there about 9 ish. Even allowing for a very slow burning fire, that would be pushing it imo for smoke to be noticed at 1.15 pm. I though that the fire was set after they had received the package. Feels like the perps were taking a big gamble letting VF's husband leave the property and still hanging around for another couple of hours.

Fire was reported at 1:30 pm.

Sounds like husband bought the story and went home. Perps were taking a lot of risks. First, housekeeper's husband showed up. Then, we know that Mr. S's sister called him and talked to him on the phone (without noticing anything unusual).
Then, assistant delivered a package. Then, another housekeeper listened to the voicemail that Mr. S left for her. That's a lot of people that could have become suspicious.
Unfortunately, none of these people were suspicious enough to contact police.

I would like to know if he was observed banging on door or shouting to be heard inside either by yard crew or neighbors. I'd like to know whether he had a phone number for the house or not. Because if he had it, he could have called his wife the night before or called over there that morning and saved himself a trip.

If he did not call the house, I'd like to see what phone he was called on.

I'd like to know if he was indeed the man waiting for his missing "brother."

I'd like to know if he knew his wife had decided not to work with Nelly but go to the S's house instead,"to get off early."
