The Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is searching for missing 24-year-old Taylor Hackel.

Hackel was last seen Monday on the 600 block of Jackson Street Northeast in D.C. near the National Basilica and the Catholic University of America campus, and she has not been heard from since.

Her disappearance was apparently reported to police on Wednesday, MPD said in a Thursday alert.

An article from 2020 about Taylor.

There was never much doubt Taylor Hackel would work in medicine.

As a preschooler, her most prized possession was a toy doctor bag equipped with a stethoscope and blood pressure meter. She used to give her family make-believe checkups.

Two decades later, her desire to work in health care is stronger than ever — and much closer to becoming a reality.

Thanks for posting.

The Fox News article states Taylor's debit card was last used at an ATM in the country of Georgia. Not sure if this could be some type of card skimming or was physically used.

This is worrisome. Where could Taylor be? How many classes is she taking?

Taylor's family is asking for privacy at this time while they work with DC Metro police to find her.
It's interesting that her family is asking for privacy. I wonder if they think she left voluntarily.

And from the article posted about her back in 2020, there was this:

Hackel served meals at the Salvation Army, lent a hand at the Catholic Charities Warming Center, and became pen pals with people who were incarcerated.
A commitment to care

Is it possible she developed a relationship with one of her contacts? Someone who might not be 'accepted' by some people in her sphere?

I hope Taylor is safe. DC is a long way from Wisconsin, in more ways than one.

Hackel graduated from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and was selected for a prestigious fellowship through the National Institute of Health, according to an article on UWL’s website.
.....
“My highlights from these experiences are when people that you serve begin to trust you enough to tell you their story,” she says. “I have listened to accounts of domestic violence, prostitution and struggles with addiction. This experience is never comfortable, but to be a true advocate, you need to be able to support others and love them where they are.”

OCT 28

When she graduated from La Crosse, she hoped to earn a joint medical doctor/master of public health degree to address health disparities and improve social justice in health care, according to a news release.

Found safe.

From the Stevens Point Journal link:
Hackel's aunt, Catherine Hackel, announced on Facebook around 8 p.m. that Hackel had been found.

"Taylor has been found!!!! Her parents, Paul and Mary are flying over there to pick her up and take her back home," Catherine Hackel posted.

I wonder if she wants to come home.
It sounds like her family is hyper religious and she went to very religious educational institutions. But what if she was trying to pull away from that a bit?
I'm worried that her parents are trying to force her to stay in their religion against her will.

This is so strange, given where she was reportedly found. I hope she’s okay.

Caatherine Hackel is very connected to the church. She is Parish Secretary and Liturgical Ministry Coordinator for her church. I don't think she would understand if Taylor wanted space away from the church.

Friday night, her dad Paul confirmed they were on their way to the European Country of Georgia.

Wow. Why would Taylor go there?

Maybe to get away from her parents?
Of course young adults will often rebel. They think they are mature, but they're not.
Having said that, she clearly ran away and we don't know why. Her family were strongly religious and definitely pushed that on her, but she seemed to want something else.

Ok, this is strange. I know I usually say "we don't deserve an update, all that matters is that they're safe", but I really want an update this time. Could she possibly have met someone from Georgia during her studies? Georgia is also close to Ukraine. Perhaps she wanted to go on a humanitarian mission? I imagine flights to Kyiv are difficult for US residents to obtain.

The proximity of Georgia to Ukraine is what immediately stood out to me, too—I can imagine she would be (understandably) concerned about pregnant women and children being displaced (or worse) by the war, andnmay have felt “called” to help? Regardless, I am glad she has been located safe.
