There's a missing girl who could be this Jane Doe: Helen Irene Allison. Here are her websleuths page & namus page.

Helen Irene Allison
Went missing:
May 11th, 1972 (age 16)
Current age (if living): 69
Race: White
Gender: Female
Height: 5'3''
Weight: 115 lbs
Hair Color: Brown (looks auburn or reddish)
Eye Color: Blue
Clothing: White blouse, pleated blue/gray skirt, white knit sweater

Jane Doe- NamUs #UP16571
Estimated year of death:
2002-2005
Estimated age: 40-50 (Helen would have been 46-49 at this time)
Race: White
Gender: Female
Height: 5'3'' (estimated)
Clothing: Different from what Helen was last seen in, but that’s expected after so many years

According to the charley project, it's possible Helen traveled up to Washington, DC (perhaps after running away).

The map above shows the distance between where Helen disappeared and where this Jane Doe was found. It’s entirely possible she could have lived in DC or the surrounding area for 30–33 years, started a new life, and then, sadly, died there unidentified. The time frame and physical stats match up almost exactly.

The only “problem” I see is the height: Helen was listed as 5'3" at age 16, and the Jane Doe is estimated at 5'3" as an adult. However, it’s not unusual for someone’s height to remain about the same from late adolescence into adulthood, and forensic estimations aren’t always precise. So while it’s a point to consider, I don’t think it rules out the possibility.
