That's an issue: Wright hasn't been sentenced in his plea, so he could have said something to ruin his already tenuous deal w/out counsel.

Also, DCF wants to close the case if Mary is given full custody. That's another main objective for kids who are in the state's care. They have so many cases and they feel confident Mary is the best fit for the girls. It gets expensive for the state to have a lot of open cases if there is an individual who can provide what the children need physically and emotionally.

Am I understanding that string of tweets right? This is all making zero sense to me.

Wright would be stupid to go back on his plea deal. He will stand trial for first degree murder and he will be convicted. The only person it might save is MS. jmo.

What makes more sense is that DCF has called this hearing to force a permanent removal of Mark's parental rights and planned to use testimony by Wright to say that yes, Mark hired me to kill these girls' mother.

Re. 1st tweet: Ben Brasch is TOTALLY misunderstanding. CWW wasn't being called as a witness for Mark, he was going to testify AGAINST Mark. That is why Mummert objected - claims he wasn't noticed timely. Feel certain his testimony was going to completely corroborate his sworn statement (the one sealed, plea deal in criminal matter). So, just the opposite - it would not ruin his "already tenuous deal". In fact, it would have tied him down even tighter because he would then have said it TWICE under oath.

I'm pretty sure he would have testified that Mark hired him & JRR to murder the mother of his children. At least, that would have been part of his testimony, I feel certain.

Cause if CWW testifies that Mark conspired with him & JRR to murder his children's mother, it's quite damning to MS's claim that he would act in the best interest of those girls.

No, I don't think so.

I've read AZlawyer's opinions/brainstorming on this matter too. I'm a little confused myself HOWEVER, I will confirm that I was told several months ago that the May 31st date was just a "placeholder" on the docket and that something would be filed. That CWW would not be formally sentenced until after Mark's trial was completed and a verdict was rendered.

I don't know if it is something specific to FL statutes or laws....but I want to look into it. Also, I have a old contact who is an esteemed attorney in Orange County, FL. I thought I would email him and ask him to explain the strategy. Just haven't had time yet, but it's on my list of things to do soon. lol

Quoting myself to clarify a point I may have overlooked -

If CWW's attorney was never noticed by either side that he was being called as a witness, THAT would be totally legit. CWW's attorneys would want to be there to make sure their client testifies exactly as he has already in his sworn statement. (no contradictions) I seriously think he would have been asked one or two MAX questions and they would have been very limited in scope so as not to "open" the door for MS's attorney's to expound.

e.g., "Mr. Wright, is it true that Mark Sievers hired you to murder his wife and mother of their children?" One word answer: "Yes."

Leaves no room for the defense to ask anything on cross-exam.

Beach, your last post just made me think about something the detective said (and IIRC others have said this, as well), he said how articulate and personable Curtis is in his mannerisms and conversations. That he comes off as a gentleman (gag) but that Mark doesn't come off that way at all (I'm paraphrasing- totally), that Mark comes across cocky, combative and brash. Well, one thing is for sure- I'll be very glad of those dynamics come trial time or the next DCF hearing.

I sure would like to see Mark outsmarted at his own game. I have no doubt left in my mind that he was setting CWW for the fall the last few months of Teresa's life and I think Curtis has been in love with Mark (in one form or another) his whole life. Curtis helping to free Teresa's daughters from the grip that is Mark could be one form of a tiny bit of redemption. We shall see.

I will also confirm that I have been told that by more than one person who know both very well. They have been compared/described almost verbatim as the detective you paraphrased.

CWW: personable & likeable

I sure can't wait for the day MS faces his "brother from another mother" testifying against him. Even if it's only one or two questions. I want the camera to zoom in on Mark so we can view his facial expressions & body language.

I would think it would have been DCF since they are the ones that want the permanent placement of the girls with MAG.

Why would Sievers attorney have to notify Wrights attorney? They did not call for the hearing.

Or is it the responsibility of BOTH sides to connact Wrights attorney?!
