DE - Dominion Voting Systems vs. Fox News, $1.6B Defamation Trial for 2020 election lies, 17 Apr 2023 *Settled $787m* + add’l trials

It still seems like a meager amount for all the lying that was proven to be done. But I guess no one wanted another expensive trial...

We had the Lidell case a couple of months ago.
Will there be any more?????

Dominion Voting Systems' historic defamation case against Fox News will proceed to a high-stakes jury trial in mid-April, a Delaware judge ruled Friday, in a major decision that dismantled several of the right-wing network's key defenses.

The judge's decision is a painful setback for Fox News and sets the stage for an agonizing, weekslong trial, where the network's highest-ranking executives and most prominent hosts could be called to the stand to testify about the 2020 election lies that were promoted on its air.
We have used Dominion machines in Canada for awhile now, it makes the process go much smoother. only one person at the poll has the key for the machine and are physical counts have to balance with the machine before we can leave for the night. I worked many elections and the machine cannot be tampered with, plus we too busy to be doing anything other than handy out ballots to voters and then documenting them on paper

FWIW, in today's news regarding voting machines (and mail-in ballots):

"I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we're at it, Highly 'Inaccurate,' Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES," Trump wrote in a social media post....

"Remember, the States are merely an 'agent' for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them," Trump wrote in his social media post.

But legal experts said states were responsible for administering federal elections under the U.S. Constitution and that only Congress can regulate how they do so.

Golly gee whiz, I wonder where he got this idea?! Vladimir Putin. 😡

In an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier on Friday, Trump relayed that "one of the most interesting things" Putin told him during the summit had to do with the unreliability of mail-in voting.

"He said: 'Your election was rigged because you have mail-in voting. ... It’s impossible to have mail-in voting and have honest elections,’” Trump said, adding that Putin told him "no country" has mail-in voting.

It's false that the United States is the only country with vote-by-mail. Other countries, such as Canada and the United Kingdom, also do. Russia has been heavily criticized, including by the U.S. government, for not having free and fair elections.

“Putin wants to sow chaos in the American electoral system,” said Brookings Institute senior fellow Fiona Hill on Face the Nation on Sunday, Aug. 17. “[He] just, basically, used his time with President Trump to push that along…It’s a diversion.”

Trump is such a fool. He’s so easily manipulated by Putin. It’s so bizarre that he worships and trusts the dictator who has been the biggest enemy of the US for so long. I suppose that’s what happens when you don’t read books or study anything at school or anywhere else. He’s so gullible.

Hes’s just blowing hot air. He probably won’t prevent people voting, but he may try to discredit the votes of people who do. Hes’s going to use the same tactics as last election.

Wait, what?

The summit about Ukraine was shorter by hours than planned (even lunch was canceled), and those two spent the time talking about American elections?

It's astonishing and a bit unsettling to see how easily Trump is manipulated by Putin. I realize some Americans now think Russia is a friend of the US and it's Allies, but those of us who've been around a while know otherwise. Russia (or USSR) hasn't been on friendly terms with the US since WWII. Even then, FDR, Truman and Churchill had an uneasy relationship with Stalin.

Interestingly enough, Russia had online voting in the last election.

This will be the first Russian presidential election to be held over multiple days (15-17 March 2024) and to include online voting.

I've followed IT experts for many years on the question of online voting. In short, there's not yet a system available to make online voting secure. It also doesn't provide the gold standard for recounts - VVPAT - voter verified paper audit trail

But if Putin did it, how long before DT wants it....while at the same time claiming voting machines like Dominion are rigged?

When reading some of the news reports these days, I have to pinch myself to see if I'm asleep and having a bad dream. Insulting our Allies and threatening to invade them while taking election advice from Putin sounds like something you hallucinate when running a high fever.

Why on earth in that period of time, were they even talking about #47s so-called stolen election and mail in voting? There was nothing better to talk about? I wonder if they even made time to talk about Ukraine!

Of course, this is just what Trump is *saying* Putin said about mailed votes. That doesn’t mean it’s true…to be blunt. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if it was, since Putin knows how to play Trump.

That thought also crossed my mind, #47 had to come out talking about something so why not promote himself and his stolen election.
