The friend didn't want to admit that she helped Madison see Noah who she wasn't supposed to be dating.

So was this friend the one who set up the meeting?

What in the world could she have known that he and a co-conspirator felt the need to silence her? A baseball bat?!? This is sick!:(

Court records detail Newark girl’s murder

Sharp allegedly confessed to the killing in an interview with police, leading them to the vicinity of I-95 and Rt. 896, on the opposite side of Newark, where police found Sparrow's body. An autopsy ruled her death as homicide by blunt-force trauma.

According to police, Sharp told them he planned the killing with another unnamed person.

Sharp was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, and first-degree conspiracy. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $1,021,000.

Two thoughts: 1. what was the motive here? Did the alleged “friend” perhaps want to be with NS or vice-versa, and together they plotted to remove MS, who posed a challenge to that? 2. What’s up with the unusual bond amount? One million twenty-one thousand dollars seems oddly specific, so I’m curious about whether it might have some meaning related to this crime.

There may be two "friends" here, a friend of Madison's who helped her sneak out and a friend of Sharp's who helped to plan the murder - although one would think the friend of Madison's would have come clean when she didn't come home. Maybe it just took a day or two for her to realize this was not just a runaway situation and/or she was afraid of Sharp. It is possible the friend and the co-conspirator are one in the same though. It can be shocking what people are willing to do when they're "in love", especially with regards to romantic rivals, especially with a dramatic story attached.

The bail is probably a million for the murder then the conspiracy and the possession of a weapon have their own bail amounts added on.

What is the motive here? It seems like Madison wasn't "allowed" to be seeing, let alone dating this guy. Did her parents make her break things up, she did and he got mad? Or is there something else here? Where did they even meet? Was he still in high school or something like that?
I'm assuming Madison's friend is just a kid who thought that she/he wasn't doing anything wrong, and was just helping a friend seeing the boy she liked. It looks like that friend got scared and didn't want to get into trouble for helping her, but once it became clear that Madison was nowhere to be found and Noah S. was still accounted for, he/she came clean.

Ex-Boyfriend Admits to Beating Madison Sparrow to Death with Aluminum Baseball Bat: Police

...The 17-year-old high school student was reported missing by her family on Friday evening after she left the house earlier that afternoon to get some ice cream with a girlfriend and buy a birthday present for her sister, according to her father...

Hours passed and a number of odd text messages were eventually sent to her mother that suggested Sparrow might be running away. The texts stopped as her phone was turned off. According to Sparrow’s father, Richard Prestidge, the texts suggesting a conscious desire to leave home were “really weird” and didn’t make much sense to the family because his daughter left her credit card and most of her money at home.

Unheard from and nowhere to be found, Sparrow’s family called the incident in to police.

...Police claim that an interview with one of Sparrow’s friends led authorities to believe 19-year-old Sharp was a likely suspect.

Per those filings, Sharp admittedly hit Sparrow in the head with aluminum baseball bat in the woods behind Maclary Elementary School sometime late Friday afternoon or early evening. Detectives then searched the area and recovered the alleged murder weapon along with blood droplets and some of Sparrow’s clothing.

...Police say Sharp confessed to murdering Sparrow and guided investigators to a separate wooded area near the intersection of I-95 and Delaware State Highway 896 where the girl’s body was hidden. An autopsy found she was killed by blunt-force trauma to the head.

I guess the “no threat to the public” was because he already confessed and led them to the body! What an evil person! Him and the friend!

Oh boy...I just read her obit and funeral arrangements, which is posted on local FB page, and realized I was good friends with plus went to high school and college with several of her close relatives. I was only following this case at a distance and don't ever recall seeing much on the local news. It happened in DE; myself and the connections are in NJ. This is extremely shocking and so very sad. Poor Madison. RIP :(

This is just awful! And the fact that the ex-bf “planned” this makes it even worse for me. There can be no justification, of course, but I am curious what his excuses/reasons are.

Sounds like she met up with him against her parents’ judgment/wishes, which makes me wonder what the relationship had been like previously. Ugh. Remember when we thought our parents didn’t know anything?

:(

Madison Elizabeth Sparrow - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Madison Elizabeth Sparrow
The parents of Madison Elizabeth Sparrow are mourning the loss of their daughter, who was taken from this world much too young at the age of 17. They ask readers to not only remember her beautiful spirit, but to remember to live life to the fullest because it’s much too short.

Madison was funny, outgoing, and vivacious, but she was also introverted and introspective. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. She was an excellent student and enjoyed tutoring young children. Becoming an elementary school teacher was a goal she had since the first grade.

Madison was a loving and compassionate person. She had an infectious smile and gave spirit lifting hugs. Her presence in the lives of all that knew her will forever be deeply missed.

After an extensive investigation by the Delaware State Police and the Department of Justice, a New Castle County grand jury indicted two Newark individuals for the October murder of 17-year-old Madison Sparrow. The indictment charges Noah Sharp and Annika Stalczynski with Murder First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During Commission of a Felony and Conspiracy First Degree.

“Every murder is an outrage, but the murder of a child strikes at everything we hold dear,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “Madison was stolen from her family and friends with her life and her dreams still ahead of her. A life has been taken and a cruel trauma has been inflicted on hundreds of people who knew and loved this kind, gentle young woman. My heart aches for Madi’s parents, the Sparrow family, and the entire Newark Charter community. We can never replace what these people have lost, but we can – and will – hold her killers accountable.”

Is Annika Stalczynski the friend that drove her to Noah Sharp? The one that lied about where they went?
