The sister of a Perth man missing for four days says she “won’t rest” until she gets him back.

Declyn Cunningham, 30, was last seen in a bar in the Methven Street area of Perth at around 1am on Thursday.

A major search and rescue operation of the River Tay, from the city centre to Friarton Bridge, on Friday failed to find any trace of him.

‘I just want him home’

In a heartfelt social media post, which The Courier is sharing with her blessing, Chloe says she wants her beloved brother home.

She said: “As I write this, it’s now day four with no news on Declyn’s whereabouts.

“I just want him home. I want him to listen to my boy problems.

“I want him to tell me, ‘You’re just like your brother’, whenever I make a decision I will soon regret.

“I want him to laugh at me on a drunken night out while he’s on the doors, me constantly bugging him for a cigarette.

“I want the silly messages, the singing voice notes.

“I want to make fun of him for being 30 and still getting annoyed at me for not keeping our Snapchat streak up.”

Declyn is ‘unbelievably loved and adored’

Chloe continued: “He’s always been able to put the biggest ‘cheeser’ on my face, and I want that feeling back.

“I just want Dec home. We all do.

“He is so unbelievably loved, adored, and respected — and people are showing that every single day.

“I’m not resting until I have my brother. Until we have our Dec.

“Please, keep sharing. Keep talking. Keep the word out. Keep everyone aware.

Our Dec is still missing.”

Sadly, there was no trace of Mr Cunningham.

On Saturday, a plea for any information that could lead to finding him was also put out at McDiarmid Park during the match between St Johnstone and Greenock Morton.

The 30-year-old is described as being around 5ft 11ins, with short fair hair.

He has a number of tattoos, including one on the back of his neck.

Mr Cunningham was last seen wearing black trousers, a black coat and a beanie-style hat.

Police Scotland Inspector Susan Cook said: “It is unusual for Declyn not to be in contact with his family and friends and as time passes concerns are growing.

“I am appealing for anyone who has seen Declyn or who has any information on his whereabouts to contact us.”

Heart goes out to this family, devastating for them to be waiting for answers.

The fact Declyn doesn’t seem to have been captured on CCTV after being last seen at the bridge doesn’t fill me with a lot of hope, sadly.

The dad of a missing Perth man has praised the “monumental effort” to find him after planes and drones joined the search.

Declyn Cunningham, 30, was last seen at Smeaton’s Bridge in Perth in the early hours of Thursday December 18.

Despite extensive searches along the River Tay, Declyn remains unaccounted for.

Now, volunteers from the Civil Air Support have joined the effort by sending one of their planes to search the Tay between Perth and Newburgh on Sunday.

Locals have also been helping with the use of drones.

In a post on social media, shared by The Courier with his blessing, Declyn’s dad, Thomas, wrote: “Monumental effort from everyone again today, thank you.

“Pretty much covered both sides of the river from Smeaton’s Bridge to the reed banks opposite the sailing club at Newburgh over recent days.”

There are further plans for searches of areas east of Newburgh, with the Beneath the Surface group also set to join the search at the start of January.

Thomas added: “Again, the sincerest of thanks to everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, support, individual and collective efforts to try and find my boy.”

Civil Air Support is a registered charity which provides free air support to agencies and individuals using private pilots and other members.

Civil Air Support joins search for Declyn Cunningham

A spokesperson for Civil Air Support told The Courier: “Following a request for support from a Perth family, and acting on the guidance of our national Search Advisory Group, Civil Air Support crews are conducting an extensive airborne search in the Perth area.

“As with all CAS search operations, this activity is fully co-ordinated with the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre (ARCC).

“The primary search area covers the stretch of the River Tay between Smeaton’s Bridge and Mugdrum Island, near Newburgh.

“Throughout the operation, crews are capturing a large volume of high-resolution imagery, which will be reviewed and analysed by our experienced ground-based support teams.

“The family of Declyn Cunningham, who went missing in the area on the morning of December 18, are aware that the search is taking place.

“The thoughts of everyone at Civil Air Support are with them at this extremely difficult time.

“Sadly, Civil Air Support has received several similar requests for assistance over the Christmas period and is currently engaged in multiple missing person searches across the UK.”

They added: “Our volunteer crews are working diligently to support families and the statutory agencies during what is an incredibly distressing time.

“We are committed to doing everything we can, using the specialist aerial capabilities available to us, to assist in the search efforts and to help bring clarity wherever possible.”

Declyn’s family released a statement on Christmas Eve, telling of their anguish.

Family tell of ‘unconditional love’ for missing Perth man

The statement said: “This unimaginable week has almost passed, and it’s never been clearer how much you are loved and adored by so many.

“At this time of year, we all have the same Christmas wish of you returning home to us.

“We love you unconditionally, Dec.

“Our family would like to thank all the efforts, response and overwhelming support from all who are helping in the search to bring Declyn home to us.

“We are forever grateful and will not give up until you are home.”

Previously, Declyn’s sister, Chloe, told how she wanted her beloved brother home in a heartfelt social media post.

Last Tuesday, a police marine unit searched the River Tay near where he was last seen.

Sergeant Lindsay Brown from Police Scotland previously said: “We continue to review all available information and will act on any new details which come to light.

“I would again urge anyone who has not yet spoken to police, or who may have even the smallest piece of information, to get in touch.

“No detail is too minor and may assist with our inquiries.”

Declyn is described as being around 5ft 11in, with a shaved head. He has several tattoos, including one on the back of his neck.

When last seen, he was wearing black trousers, a black coat, and a beanie-style hat.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 0654 of December 18.
