Decomposed Body found in Scurry Co.*3/16/13* - LE identified as being Hailey

I just read a post where this lady owned a home near lake Thomas, she was walking around and saw an area of disturbed land that looked like a grave, she said she reported it to the FBI but never heard from anyone. I guess they cant follow up on everyone that calls but one report said the body was buried.

Was the POI in that area ? I know they had a good idea of the whereabouts on the day Haley went missing..?

I have land too. I also know every square inch of it. Unless someone brings a backhoe with them, no graves could be dug on my land, only has about 6 inches of topsoil and the rest is rock BUT if it were possible and I did notice a disturbance in the ground that I thought could hold a human body, I would still be on the phone with the Sheriff. No doubt about it.

For those who are local. Is this area dry enough year round that remains could be partially mummified? If not, I would think it wouldn't take very long for a body to be reduced to skeletal remains in such a relatively mild climate.

After reading this article, I guess it could be possible. West Texas has been in severe drought conditions for over two years, many of our lakes, creeks and rivers have dried up. It is not out of the ordinary for temperatures in the summer to reach over 100 for days in a row. Here it is spring and yesterday and the day before it was in the upper 80's.

I 100% believe that Hailey was killed on the Sunday night unfortunately and for that reason I would like it to be her ( tho i dont think it is) so that she can be laid to rest

Yeah, you know though, if this was off of a tip, I would think they would have closed things off much quicker than now.

I'm not clear if she is saying that she recently saw disturbed ground, or a long time ago. Not saying that it's the case here, but people say that kind of thing all the time in hopes of gaining attention.

I wonder if there were just so many calls about areas of disturbed ground that LE wrote it off as "nothing" without checking. Especially if it was "recently" since one would assume a grave containing HD would be virtually indistinguishable from surrounding ground after all this time if she was buried shortly after her disappearance.

A person who runs a Hailey page apparently has a PI on the case. Its been said that he phoned LE who supposedly gave him information that this could not be Hailey or the missing boy Mark. Now from that other people are going by what that admin said. LE have not said officially that this is NOT Hailey and my personal opinion is until LE state officially that its not Hailey or for that matter Mark either that no facebook admin should be telling people its not them as it can be giving false hope to people ;(

I would certainly hoe by this point that they have all learned how to keep thy lips zipped. Can't believe after all this time and all that has happened that would be an issue. Even with neat initials and even if they did know, they're not going to give that kind of info out to someone who calls. At least they shouldn't be. (and I don't think they did)

Just had a thought...Hailey has been missing for 2 years and 3 months. More than likely her body would be skeletal remains by now. Wouldn't reports say "skeletal remains found" instead of decomposed body???

If "a body" is buried in wet conditions, it can saponify instead of simply decomposing. This is a process by which body fat (adipocere) is converted to something akin to soap. If this area is used for camping, ashes from woodfires mixed into the soil would greatly increase the probability of this occurring.

Soap = fat + lye + time
Bodies contain fat
Lye can be naturally created when woodfire ashes are soaked in water.

Maybe someone should call Scurry and let them know that if they are passing info. around the good ole' boy network, that it's not exactly staying there....

BTW, I don't think that's the case. If nothing else, simply for the fact that there is likely no way they know that info. at this point if the state of decomp was anything like described.

TY. FWIW, a PI who is ex LE should know better and the PI is going to have significant cooperation problems in the future if he/she leaked this.

My guess is that LE is looking for their leaks, and they just found one.

That's a bit different than saying it is not KNOWN, eh? It sounds to me as if they DO have a pretty good idea, which opens the possibility that someone who knows leaked the info. I'd hope they'd have better sense than to share this information with "ex" LE. Unless this person was involved with the case in a LE capacity early on, they should find out when the rest of us do.

Have I been watching too much tv? I thought, in general, cops don't like or disclose, any information to PIs working on a case that they, too, are working on?

Also, someone who runs a FB page for HD has enough cash flow to hire a PI? Or is this a donation type PI?
