I certainly hope none of my family or close friends go missing. With my Internet history I'd be screwed.


Not saying that I don't think they're guilty as sin, just that true crime books aren't usually an indication of guilt.


God, I even googled "Places to hide a body in Portland" on my phone once... I really hope none of my friends go missing.

I believe their interest goes beyond a few true crime books. I think all of us on here by have searches, files, and screenshots on our computers from researching cases (e.g., how long before rigor mortis sets in, what conditions make a body decompose faster, how someone can be tracked by cell phone pings, etc). But they had boxes of some really gory stuff. I don't recall is off the bad, but tons of stuff. I think SA & Co. liked to act out some of it, IMO.

So while I do understand your point, I think their interest was on a different level.

IMO one thing that immediately entered my mind is the fact that Billie's having claimed there was a coworker whom she spoke with, that came to her home picked up, and drove her to work that morning, is that THIS CO WORKER HAS THEREFOR KNOWN IMMEDIATELY THAT BILLIE WAS LYING ABOUT THE EVENTS OF THAT MORNING.. IMO that's a huge factor that Billie would have obviously known the risk of actually lying involving a coworker in that mornings timeline..therefor knowing full well this person would KNOW IT WAS A LIE.

Playing Devil's advocate here, but... what if she frequently hitched rides with various "coworkers". Perhaps people from other departments who do not know one another. Then nobody would think they were the referenced co-worker, assuming it was ANOTHER coworker that morning. Of course, LE would have asked for more information about this person, and interviewed them, so how long have THEY known it wasn't true?

The day before that,, Shawn picked Billie up from work, they drew out $ from the ATM for some drugs, Hailey was playing with her brother on the Xbox and then he left to go spend the night at a friends. Is this right?

IIRC, Hailey was "at the sleepover" when Shawn and Billie did these things. The brother had seen her the night before THAT playing XBox when he left to spend the night elsewhere.

FWIW. I hate to jump in here and not stay on the topic at hand but this has been on my mind a few days now, and again this morning, so I am going to share this and maybe it will quit popping up in mind so often. The area where these remains were found have been described as desolate, ugly etc. No, some of the land in West Texas would not be described as an enchanted forest but as a landowner that spends a great deal of time on a piece of earth just about like this one in Scurry County, I must tell you that it is the most peaceful place I know.
In the mornings, the sun coming up on the horizon is like God waking you up himself, the air is crisp and clean and the birds chirping in the mesquite bush are like sounds from heaven.
When evening falls, one gets a panoramic view of the brilliance, majesty and breathtaking colors of the sun and sky. A rainbow can't even compare to the colors of a West Texas sunset. The night sky is the most beautiful of all, with stars so clear and vibrant it feels as if you could just reach up and take one. The moon is spectacular, providing it's luminous glow like it is there for only you to see.
The land, this land where these remains were found may not be considered beautiful by most people's standards of beauty but it is beautiful and it is peaceful.
I hate the total disregard for human life and the total lack of respect that was shown to this person by being placed here but if it was Hailey, and reading about her home life and such, this may be the only peaceful place she has ever known.

But here is the issue regarding Shawn, pings, and would he or would he not be knowledgeable enough to think about pings, etc..

The big issue for me has always been that yes, he absolutely was aware of his phone's tracking abilities and its exactly why his cell phone drops off the face of the earth for a BIG CHUNK OF TIME and then randomly comes back on later all the way at momma's in Big Spring..

MOO IS THIS IS THE BLOCK OF TIME, AFTER SHAWN DROPPED BILLIE OFF AT HER WORK, THAT HE DISPOSED OF HAILEY'S BODY AND JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE THE BLOCK OF TIME HIS PHONE DROPS OFF THE RADAR FOR A GOOD CHUNK OF TIME.. ONLY TO REAPPEAR BACK ON IN BIG SPRING ONCE AT MOMMA'S..HIS ALIBI..

Thank you for that. Question: How does it drop off the radar? Does that mean it is turned off? Doesn't a phone continue to ping even when it's off? Are the only towers along that main road, or are there some out near the lake?

I always wondered why he went to work that day. It seemed to be to be for an alibi during that time frame. And then to go to his mom's.....to have a reason for the pings on his phone in that area? But is he smart enough to think along those lines in covering his tracks????

"Smart" and "educated" are different things. I can't say if he is "smart" but they "educated" themselves by reading "crime stories" and may have KNOWN cell phone pings would be an issue.

Sorry to quote myself but I remembered something else. He said he stopped at his grandmother's house in Dunn and knocked on her door for awhile but no on answered. Am I remembering that correctly? I call bogus on that. He was explaining why it took him so long to get to Big Spring. Because he was possibly disposing of Hailey along the way and needed a reason for lost time. And that would be in the vicinity of the route he would've taken from Snyder to Big Spring, in the case of cell phone pings.

Just trying to decide where knocking on grandma's door fits in the timeline or in his story if he did in fact take Billie to work. (<-- I just recently learned of this on here...).

Assuming he knew they'd look at his pings, could he have dropped the phone off somewhere he was "supposed to be" and gotten rid of evidence? Then gone back to get the phone? He'd just need to explain why he was at that location for a period of time (15-30 minutes?), and saying he was trying to rouse granny works well.

I am just thinking back to the 1st day I heard she was missing. I turned to my daughter who was in her class and asked her if Hailey was wild and what her personality was like. She was mild mannered and had a smile on her face all the time. She stated that Hailey didn't seem to her like things were burdening her. She knew Hailey from school but not outside school. She knew Hailey walked around with other kids as did I because we would see her. She went to church with Hailey. During the nancy grace interviews when it was out out that Hailey was premiscuous my daughter got upset because she said Hailey did have alot of male friends but not boyfriends. That she wasn't like that. Now this is just what I was told by my child. And IMO I believe Hailey was down to earth and a good girl. I think her mother may have envied her just based on everything I've heard come out of her mouth about me me me. My opinion only. Wish we had more facts so we could figure out where this precious child went for certain. But I do believe time is running out and based on recent events bd is getting nervous that's why she is changing her story yet again. Dang it.

Right - the only person who ever said Hailey was "Promiscuous" was Shawn, and he said it to police and it raised all the red flags.

Whatever was said on Nancy Grace was just them quoting from the police report from the interview they did with Shawn.

This came out after Shawn had flunked a couple of polygraphs, too.

Nancy Grace Transcript Jan. 12, 2011:

As police take DNA samples from Hailey`s parents, bombshell tonight. Did Mommy and the boyfriend actually throw a New Year`s Eve party? That`s just 72 hours after Hailey goes missing. We learn turmoil in the home before with the boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, with him threatening to kill the mom and Hailey. And oddly, during his police interviews, after cops ask to see his cell phone, he starts deleting numbers. Why?

Then he says he`s sure Hailey can be found a few counties over. In those same interviews, Adkins starts out saying, quote, what a "good girl" Hailey is. But then he does a 180, claiming the little girl -- she`s 13, people -- claiming she`s promiscuous. And did the boyfriend lie about his job and his whereabouts that day?


. . . JEAN CASAREZ, "IN SESSION": And Nancy, let`s remember where this comes from. This is the search warrant affidavit for cell phones and also for a vehicle. And that is what gives a judge probable cause that a crime has been committed to issue a warrant. And it says in this search warrant affidavit that Shawn Adkins and Billie Dunn hosted a New Year`s Eve party at their home.

And it goes on to say many things. Let`s look at the polygraph. It says that Shawn Adkins actually walked out the first time, walked out the second time. The third time, he sat down for it. And when he was asked, Do you know the whereabouts of Ashley (SIC) Dunn -- you know, Hailey Dunn, you know what he said? He said he didn`t, and deception was indicated.


. . . GRACE: You know, Jean, also in that interview and in some of his police interviews -- everybody, we`re talking about the live-in boyfriend of the mom, Billie Dunn, who with us live tonight and taking your call calls. At some point, he starts talking about what a great little girl, a good girl, as he says, the little girl is. She`s only 13. Of course she`s good.

But then he goes on within that same interview, does a 180, Jean, starts talking about, she is promiscuous, sleeps around, does drugs. You know, take a look at these pictures. This is not a drug-head. Look at this little girl. She`s an all-American little cheerleader. She didn`t even have a boyfriend.

CASAREZ: Thirteen years old. Thirteen years old. But you`re right, he totally changes course and says she wasn`t a good girl, she was a bad girl.

GRACE: Now, isn`t it true also that in one of those interviews, he tells police point-blank, Oh, you can find her. She`s in Scurry, Texas. It`s just a couple of counties over. Right? He said that.

CASAREZ: That was in the polygraph that you could find her in Scurry County. You know where Scurry County is? That`s Dunn, Texas. That`s where they had that big search.
