Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

  • #661
Happy birthday, Sterling!!!

Hey, I feel your pain. I'm in southern WI and we're getting the white stuff here too. It's very rare to get this crap so late in April. :( It's very depressing.

The eaglets look bigger every day to me. It seems they grow overnight. Kinda like that gray nose hair I found this morning that wasn't there yesterday! :D

Happy Birthday Sterling!!!!

BBM - HAHAHAHAAAA!!!! Thanks!! I needed that laugh today! :floorlaugh:

I guess this is a lesson for later on in their lives - find a straw filled warm bowl and hunker down.

Happy Birthday Sterling. :bdsurprise:
:bdscroll: :balloons: :partyguy: :cake4u:

Ice is melting off of lens but right now all is shows is a cold and dedicated eagle.

Thanks everyone for the Birthday wishes! Now if Mama would look less miserable, I would be complete!

Sterling ...hope you are having a better day than Mamma Eagle. All good wishes for a great year for you!

Poor Mom! She is losing her own body heat while keeping her wings out like that, but she is determined to keep the babies warm and dry.

Dad was the one that was all spread out over the babies earlier and then mom came back, they sat together for a while, and he left but she was waiting in just the right spot to take over the job for him and I bet none of the babies got a single drop of water on them. Wow, it's amazing. I was having a hard time figuring which one was on the nest so I had to peak in at the RRP FB to see if I had it right. She is the one who is back on the nest now.

:truce: Guess Dad looked bigger to me all spread out like that. That'll teach me to make guesses. :floorlaugh: Poor Dad!

Here's another live stream I just found of Macaw parrots...these babies are tiny, tiny!

I hope mom and dad get to dry out soon. It's almost painful watching them.http://www.ustream.tv/channel/aramacaw

Have the babes been fed today? With the rate they are growing, they seemed to have had constant feedings until today.

Hi! It's me. :seeya:

I changed my picture to something more uplifting!

It pains me to see the Eagles so miserable. My birthday wish today is for better weather....

When the screen was covered I did hear one of the parents tearing something apart, so I assume it was breakfast!

Looks like that's not gonna happen, more sleet covering the camera, poor poor birds.

Both parents there now. The lens is icing up again. It sure looks cold there. :(

I was able to sign on to the raptorresource chat. The moderator was very reassuring that the Eagles are doing a great job and are fine. It's the humans having a harder time!

Ok, I'm supposed to be working....

They look like they could use a hug!

One more thing before I ummm, start working...
I noticed the Eagles had full crops yesterday which means they can regurgitate food and survive for up to 7 days. I think they were preparing for the storm.

  • #677
I finally saw babies poking their heads out. Bless their hearts! They all are miserable.

  • #678
I have had the urge all day to climb a ladder and build a tree house over that nest. :(

  • #679
Oh no, more and more ice building up on the camera, it's about where we can't see again.

  • #680
I finally saw them too. I cannot believe how different they look.; as if they sprouted feathers overnight. Stay warm little ones and fellow sleuthers that are caught up in this storm. I actually have some sun peeking out this afternoon in Ventura, CA today and I found some extra sunshine in my pocket from Santa Monica beach last summer.... her ya go.
