Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

  • #721
Has anyone been quick enough to grab a close up, side view of each baby's head? Could you post them if you have? Maybe we could decide if they are boys or girls. So far, I think Sassy and Wobble are female and Finally is male. They just won't sit still long enough to see where the beaks end. :maddening:

I was thinking just the opposite - that the first two are male and Finally is female. :) Great idea for the screen shots of their heads though!!

Does it seem like Dad has been around the nest a lot more than Mom today? Almost every time I check in, it's Dad on duty.

This has certainly made for a nice change of pace from what we usually follow here on WS.

I agree. I'm in a much better mood watching Decorah's Royal Eagle Family. Too bad some human parents don't have a little Eagle blood in them. I will not mention names bacause I don't want to pollute this thread.

I must say that I am awestruck at the devotion and teamwork these two Eagle parents have. Especailly through the storms. They are AMAZING!

I think dad has been around more today but bless her heart after the last 2 days they've had, she definitely needed a break.

I'll be on the lookout when Bob pans the camera and see if I can catch some up close shots. Sometimes I'm not fast enough though.

I have changed my mind a couple of times - but that's what I am thinking today.

Finally has daddy's undivided attention and eating tons of fresh fish. Just saw mom flying by and swoop in the nest. That was pretty awesome. She has just taken over feeing Finally!!

Daddy decided he wanted another fish and just came back to the nest with one. According to the RRP FB, that's his 12th fish for the day.

Ya gotta wonder if the fish hatchery people are like "COME ON!!! Enough is enough!!
We don't mind sharing but the birds are greedy!!!"

Dad grabbed a big stick and started 'looking busy' just before Mom landed.
LOL, like a few humans I know..

Hancock Eagles Nest. Awesome camera views if you are interested. Two eggs in the nest. First pip today. I wish we had these kinds of cameras for our babies. Maybe with all the donations Raptor Resource Project has received, they can do an upgrade for next year.

Thanks for the link, right now one egg, one baby. But I really do not need another addiction - can't live with this family but I will have to check on them now and then...

Thanks lorann, I haven't even checked in this morning. Our babies are being so cute today, it's hard to pull away. They are fighting with each other, one is learning how to rearrange the nest (can you say OCD like dad?), and just generally being funny. I'll have to pop over to the Hancock nest and see what's going on.

I'm so glad the sun is shining on our family today!! They deserve that after the rough couple of days they had. I hope it's warming up. Dad is feeding them again. Man, they're getting so big. I know I've said it before but it just amazes me how much they seem to grow overnight!! I notice the spots in their feathers now too.

Parents are gone. Babies are laid out like spokes on a wheel...butts in, heads out. LOL! Finally seems restless with the rents away. The older two sleep.

So far I have seen them bring 3 fish this morning and I have been only tuning in now and then between work spurts. :innocent:

I saw Mom I think bring something brown and furry, she pecked on it a bit and feed one the the babies, she keep looking around and back like she was seeing something she didn't like. She flew off and hasn't come back yet.

What is going on with the chat stream, any body know?
