Witness 4
Witness number 4 takes the stand in Copenhagen: Kasper, a physician who volunteered in Madsen's space lab, starting in the fall of 2015
"Peter was extremely motivating and inspiring to work with. One could learn a lot from him," Kasper tells the court
"At times, he could have a dark humor but it wasn't anything I found unusual. A lot of people have," Kasper says about Madsen
Prosecutor asks Kasper, if it's true he told the police, that Madsen was fascinated by the second world war, weapons and torture. Kasper confirms.
Kasper went by the workshop on Wednesday Aug. 9, the day before the submarine sank
Kasper tells the court, that Madsen seemed sad about the cancelled rocket launch, when Kasper went by the workshop on Aug. 9
Kasper brought some friends to the workshop on Aug. 9: "I expected that when curious people came to the lab, Peter would start showing around but he was writing on his blog," Kasper says, adds "He was more dismissive than usual."
Kasper doesn't remember seeing the hose in the submarine and he doesn't see a purpose of bringing metal pipes on Nautilus "That would be trash," he says, but has seen straps on there before
The prosecutor shows Kasper the half meter long screwdriver: "Oh my, that is a very long screwdriver! I don't remember ever seeing a screwdriver that long. I don't think I have ever seen one like that in my life," Kasper says
"I could have easily said that (red. that Madsen was especially happy to show the submarine to beautiful women)," Kasper said. "It was no secret that Peter was a bit of a skirt-chaser."
Kasper one time started the submarine's engines without remembering to open the hatch and the pressure made the hatch stick, he tells the court "It was a problem, it was an element of danger."
Kasper tells the court, that he and Madsen had discussed that they should fix the problem with the hatch getting stuck due to pressure when the engines started
According to Peter Madsen's story, Kim Wall got stuck inside the submarine due to pressure, before she died from carbon monoxide poisoning
Madsen's defence attorney shows Kasper a photo of benches in the submarine where Madsen says the straps found in the middle of the submarine where attached "they could easily have been up there," Kasper says
"I had a joke with Peter that one had to ignore the best 10 percent and the worst 10 percent," Kasper says, adding that Madsen could become extremely happy and extremely angry
Kasper never noticed any violent tendencies, the court learns
Kasper perceived Madsen as an empathic person, the court learns
"If the vacuum first becomes marked, it's far more than what a person has the ability to open, without letting in air or using some serious machinery," Kasper says. Madsen has said he eventually opened the hatch after Wall got stuck
Peter Madsen, his lawyer, Kasper and the prosecutor are all standing in front of the judge looking at a picture of the submarine. Kasper explains how a vent on the submarine works
If the vent, Kasper opened to let in air, had been open while the engines were running, the submarine would have been filled with exhaust gas, Kasper tells the court
The fourth witness, Kasper, leaves the stand and the court goes on a lunch break until 13.00 CEST
