Depositions Cancelled In Casey Case

HHJP said to get the depos done within the deadline (drop dead date) or else. There would be no extensions.

Now, with all the depositions being canceled and no time left to reschedule them, is JB setting things up for an appeal by claiming the mean old judge wouldn't let him get his job done and thereby depriving sweet little ICA from her right for a fair trial?

Will HHJP be required then to extend the deadline to avoid this?

It's a delicate balancing act, but these attorneys have had such a long time to do depos, and have been warned so many times, that I think HHJP can safely enforce his deadlines this time...unless the entire defense team waitasec: how many people are actually still on the team now?) was abducted by aliens or something.

Can't wait to hear the excuse IF Baez has the gall to ask for more extensions at the hearing on Friday.
Will he have to give the reason why the depositions of these people have yet again been cancelled?

Watching Mr. Grund cry and pray I am reminded when she was an infant his family cared for this child as their very own grand-daughter. I bet Jesse and or his folks would have adopted this child in a heartbeat if Casey wanted out of motherhood. We all would.

JB isn't required to take these depositions. The "punishment" would just be that he doesn't get to take them.

Good question!

I honestly don't know.

I would guess that if they didn't get the depos done in time, they would not get paid for the expense of doing them? Also, they would not be able to use them at the trial to represent an absent witness, to discredit a testimony, etc?

I guess they could still do them at their own expense (haha) to use as a behind-the-scenes reference in defending their client?

Judge perry already informed them that if they cannot get their depositions done, HE would schedule them, possibly on nights or weekends and when he does they better bring a lunch. He said something to the effect of Bear in mind...the last person you want setting your depositions is ME! Here is the video.

They may have cancelled because they figure that there is nothing new to learn from these people.

I would bet that they not even cross examine them and rely on other witnesses to discredit any testamony they may give for the state.

We know he paid Lyon ($20,000)
We know he Did Not pay Baden. Not even what was written in the Retainer Agreement that she rescinded before Casey was declared Indigent.
We know Dominic Casey filed a bar complaint over payment of services..Not sure if he ever did get paid, my guess would be a NO..but Baez said he would look over his invoices.

I've been following these developments all day long and all I can say is Friday's hearing is going to be one heck of a ride!

Let's hope the defendant watches her "team" closely!
