Although I don't see it mentioned today, OCSO has expressed concern over Cain's truthfulness regarding his follow up on this case. It will be interesting to see what the results of the investigation reveals.

If that is true that would explain the stripping him of all they did. He got a real dressing down it seems. They took away everything that would define him as an officer. What is he now just office help?

Glad to see it addressed. Does anyone know where the " Material Control/Supply Section" is in a police dept?

Does that mean supply room?

I'm pretty sure it does. That would not be fun.

I wish we knew the entire story behind the calls to report the bags, I am not taking all that at face value just yet. IMO, this officer will be cleared of any wrong doing.

I do not understand why, if Kronk was so sure something must be down there & he was getting the blow off by his calls, why did he not call Yuri himself or any number of the tv stations. In Aug there was still a lot of media camped out, why didnt he just walk up to one of them & take them to the site with camera's entow.

I am looking at what makes sense & this doesn't make sense. NOTHING in this case makes sense.

I'm pretty sure I would have dealt with it the exact same way he did...I don't find it odd at all. The only odd part imo, is that LE didn't investigate it better back in August, and the attacks on him since he's come forward.

Your last sentence pretty much wraps it up with a bow.

I don't believe the officer is going to be reinstated, 3 strikes in 2 years? If 3 people called him on his behavior, you know there were other times his attitude could could have been better. Most people just don't bother making a case about it.

I think RK was trying to do the right thing, the right way. RK didn't go to the media because he didn't want his name put out there, according to his 911 call. Remember in those first weeks how many psychic calls LE had to field? Out of all the calls about 10(?) weren't psychics, and out of those 3 came from Kronk!! He also has the issue of being a county employee and I believe his income and job stability is crucial to him right now.

I'm feeling doubtful that he saw a skull in August, I think in the 4 mos in between his mind has played tricks on him and possibly even convinced himself he saw a skull. But I'm not convinced that is what he saw. Because if he did, I think he would have said he did, in the first calls.

They had searched the sight, they thought it was cleared. (Except for the portion that went under water in Fay). I don't understand the dispatcher putting him off or the cop who responded to the call. Two times the ball was dropped. And it all goes back to none of it making sense.

The way I've felt since I first heard Kronk's story ~ he told an officer of the law who decided it was just too much trouble for him to search these woods which are right down the street from the home of a missing child. If the guy was scared of a snake in the woods, he should have called animal control to come with him. If the guy thought it was too muddy, he should have changed his shoes and gone back the next day.

It really doesn't matter whether he was "just a patrol officer" or what he was. He was supposed to uphold the law and do his job, and I'm glad they are discinplining him. I just refuse to see him as a victim at all.

I am reading some reports from police depts of similair incidents with officers-some are placed without pay in the time they are placed off duty. wonder if deputy is on full pay while this is happening to him.

Reports show that Deputy Richard Cain responded to Calibre Bend Lane on March 25, 2007 regarding a threatening call made to resident Kevin Newton.

The complaint report shows that Newton had been robbed several days prior to the day he received the threatening phone call. Newton asked Cain for protection, but the deputy told him that could not be provided by the sheriff's office.

"I explained to him that we could not provide him the type of services that he is asking for," the sheriff's report shows. "The best thing he could do is contact the detective assigned to his robbery case."

No sheriff's policies were violated in the incident and the complaint was dropped, according to the report.

Another complainant told deputies that Cain failed to identify himself when he responded to Pamlico Street on January 17. Resident John Schuss told deputies that Cain and another deputy remained on his property 30 minutes after the call for service. Cain also refused to identify himself, Schuss said.

Sheriff's records show that Cain and the other deputy had not remained at the scene for the alleged period of time. Cain told deputies he had identify himself. The report shows that Cain's name is also displayed on his uniform.

Schuss did not return calls made by the deputy assigned to the allegations against Cain. Deputies determined the complaint was unjustified.

Yes, I agree. I still do not understand why with a persistent tip - they didn't just decide to do a small search of that area.... the one down the street from where the child lived. Yes, that one. Not a bigtime stop the traffic search, but certainly some kind of action. I have never understood that.

As far as the Police Apologists now emerging ..... please. :hand:

Thank-you for putting into words what I've been feeling.:clap::clap:If this guy had only done his job, Caylee could have been found in August!

Wow Jesse G. (not that his resignation had anything to do with KC or did it), Anthony R., and now Richard C. for KC to be possibly lookin at life behind bars she sure isnt making a good impression with law enforcement that will one day be there to protect her. This is one crazy mess.Oh what a tangled web we weave .....
Vanpet

I have always wondered WHY & WHEN JG resigned.

I really believe the bag was underwater at that time. I am not convinced it would have made any difference what he did because he most likely could not have recovered it at that time. There are a LOT of us who "could" have found her if circumstances were different. I believe she was found when she was supposed to be.

I DO believe he should be disciplined to avoid things like this from happening again.

I had a feeling when hearing of Kronk's call that he was probably treated very badly by someone and told to quit calling. I've read that the officer was very rude, and I think he should be totally fired since he's had other complaints and there is no mistaking what happened. Anyone with a brain should know that the area should have been totally checked out, every inch of it, snakes or not. If there were still so many bags, there's no way the area was checked out thoroughly. Kronk was plain from his calls that there was something white and round and it did not look right. Duh....... Thank God Kronk stewed over it, didn't just whine and give up. Hopefully a murderer won't get less time or even get off scott free because of this officer with a big problem.

I have always wondered WHY & WHEN JG resigned.

I believe it was 6/24, from his LE interview where he said he remembered the date clearly, off the top of his head, from his situation, Detective Edwards called it a significant day in his life, said "we know why and you don't have to pick that scab''

RG said in his rant (I mean his blog) that "Jesse was raised to believe things are black and white," the word righteous was tossed in there and this doesn't always work in LE so that Jesse and LE weren't a good fit. Black and white is a quote, the rest is my wording but very close to RG's.

I think we have 2 choices, A- Jesse found LE was not a good fit with his "righteous" upbringing so he chose to quit or B- a situation presented itself that did not feel comfortable to Jesse and he was not able to comply with the standards of practice in his department. In this situation because it was a case of ethics or morals, Jesse was given the opportunity to resign or face disciplinary actions. Having spent 6 months making decisions that were in conflict to how he was raised, Jesse realized LE was not a comfortable fit for him and he chose to resign.

Which at the end of the day doesn't explain a dang thing, but I'm satisfied this is the date. His next employer was Cheese Cake Factory, Millennia Mall.

I think he has job security until after the trial. They are going to need him to testify, then he's history. In the mean time he'll be counting paper clips and making sure all the pencils on the chief's desk are sharp.

Police officers with a bad attitude are bad for everyone. Any cop who has been in the on the force for less than 3 years and has logged 3 complaints that needed to go to IA needs a new job. Even if the officer was taking an appropriate stand, he was not doing it in an appropriate way. I'm curious about whether after either of the other complaints Cain was offered training in public relations?

I'll make a prediction based on your prediction being accurate: He will sue for wrongful termination.

I am assuming that there is no list of complaints against him other than these...

No sheriff's policies were violated in the incident and the complaint was dropped, according to the report.

I am confused, did the MR actually bring the deputy to the bag he found or not? If not, why not? From what I hear there were several bags in the area - how would LE know which one if he didn't point it out to him?

VELEZ-MITCHELL:
KATHI BELICH, WFTV CORRESPONDENT: Well, we`ve heard that -- as you said -- Deputy Richard Cane has been relieved of his gun and badge at this point; reassigned to work in supply until the end of this investigation. It turns out he`s the same deputy who investigated the Anthonys` missing gas cans back in June 24th.
